00:00The High Court has quashed a subpoena taken out to compel Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to testify in a RM30
00:07million civil suit brought against businessman Vinod Balachandra Sekar and his wife Winnie Yap.
00:14Judicial Commissioner Adam Abdullah ruled that the plaintiffs had failed to show Anwar was a relevant witness in their case.
00:22He said photographs, social media posts, and public appearances involving Anwar and Vinod only demonstrated acquaintance or association, not personal
00:33knowledge of the disputed transactions.
00:36The court found that while the plaintiffs had alleged that Anwar's name was misused to perpetrate fraud, their own witness
00:44acknowledged there was no evidence to support the contention.
00:48The suit, brought by 10 investors and two of Vinod's former employees in 2023, alleges that Vinod had misled them
00:56into investing their funds.
