00:00The Football Association of Malaysia has parted ways with Harimah Malaya head coach Peter Klemowski and CEO Robert Douglas Friend.
00:09FAM said Friend's contract ended on June 1st, while Klemowski's contract was terminated two days ago, both by mutual agreement.
00:18Friend and Klemowski joined Harimah Malaya on January 1st, 2025.
00:22FAM tasked Klemowski with leading Malaysia into the top 100 of FIFA's world ranking, but the team slipped from 132nd
00:31to 136th during his tenure.
00:34Friend's role came under scrutiny amid controversy and sanctions around seven heritage players.
00:40FIFA said Friend had explained that he works in a consultant role to FAM and that he was still based
00:46in Canada, only travelling to Malaysia for match days.
00:50However, Friend denied he was just a consultant, asserting that he was in fact the national team's CEO.
00:57The Asian Football Confederation previously recommended that Harimah Malaya return under the management of FAM to strengthen governance and accountability.
