00:10I think this team might be more aggressive than perhaps,

00:18although it's certainly more aggressive than last year.
00:21It appears, given the fact that their name has been associated
00:24from credible reports that they've called about Trey Murphy,
00:27they've called about Kyrie,
00:29and now there's a report that they've shown interest in Austin Reeves.
00:32There is some speculation in the media about what Jalen Duren might get,
00:35and I'll be intrigued to know what fans think of it.

00:45You think that this could work in Detroit?
00:47Yeah, I mean, from a basketball perspective,
00:49I actually think he's like the perfect type of player they need,
00:51someone who can handle the ball.
00:52I mean, he's got one of the, if not best, handles in the league.
00:56He's got playoff and championship experience.
00:58He can make a bucket, create his own bucket.

01:03He, from that standpoint, I think it's perfect.
01:06Now, the cons are obviously he hasn't played basketball in over a year and a half.
01:10Some say he's, you know,
01:12mentally not what you would want on a team and a bad locker room guy.
01:15I would dispute that, especially how he's been in Dallas.
01:18I think he's matured a lot,
01:18and I think he's admitted some mistakes he's made in the past.
01:22And I don't think it would cost you a ton to get him.
01:26So, and I think that type of move is more realistic.
01:30Like, I don't think they're going to get,
01:31I don't have a problem talking about the big name guys like Porter Jr.
01:34and Trey Murphy,
01:35but I don't think they're going to be able to go there,
01:37or Austin Reeves.
01:38I just think the passing price is too much.
01:41But I do think they're going to go something above marginal,
01:44which was last year he said on the margins, right?
01:45And I think the in-between move is a guy like Kyrie,
01:48where it's kind of like above the margins,
01:50but not a big splash move.
01:52Because I just don't,
01:52I feel they want to continue this escalating,
01:56you know, progression that they have.
01:58And I don't know if they're willing to go over the top for it
02:02and give up, you know, maybe one of the core guys.
02:04And I'm not saying they should,
02:05but it takes an aggressive move.
02:06Well, it's faith in what you have or not, right?
02:11It's okay.
02:11I expect that the guys we have on this team,
02:13because we're a young basketball team,
02:14I expect them to grow and take another big step forward next year
02:18that will help erase the bad taste in your mouth
02:22from this past season.
02:23But I don't know if you'd fully trust that.
02:26So it's a tough position to be in.
02:29And then you've got to worry about salary caps and all that.

02:35Kane, I've been talking about Kyrie Irving for months.
02:37I floated that idea three or four months ago.
02:39And I find it curious just because of the talent that he is.
02:43But, yeah, there's a ton of risk because he hasn't played forever
02:45and because you don't really know what you're getting
02:49outside of what you see on the court,
02:50which might be a big deal.

03:15In the meantime, the New York Times is speculating about the future of Jalen Duren.
03:21Duren is eligible for a contract, a five-year contract,
03:24worth up to $287.1 million.
03:29New York Times reports a five-year, $200 million deal
03:34would value him at $40 million a year,
03:36keep him in Detroit through much of his prime.
03:38That feels like a potential end point.
03:41How would you feel about a five-year, $40 million deal?
03:45Well, it's better than a five-year, $50 million deal or whatever.
03:48But I know a lot of people are soured on Jalen Duren
03:53based on what happened in this most recent postseason.
03:55And there's reason for that.
03:57He literally had half the production that he had,
03:59what he was averaging in the regular season.
04:02I think that had to be some sort of an anomaly.
04:05I mean, there's got to be some reason to explain away why that was.
04:08I think part of it might just be that his deficiencies.
04:13But he's going to have to get better.
04:14But he's only 22 or 23 years old.
04:16He'll get better.
04:17He's not a finished product.
04:19This is a very productive player for this team this past season.
04:22He was, what, second-team All-NBA or third-team All-NBA?
04:27He's really good, but he had a horrible postseason for him.
04:31I think it's one of these things you say,
04:33yuck, throw it in the garbage and move on.
04:34You know, Tobias Harris was labeled as a bad postseason performer
04:39based off of, what, two bad postseasons he had with Philadelphia.
04:43And he ended up, you know, scoring 20 points a game
04:45at like eight straight for the Pistons in the playoffs.
04:48So things can change.
04:49You're not defined, certainly not defined who you are at 22 years old.
04:54I don't have any problem if, let's say, another team signed to an offer sheet
04:59for that and then the Pistons matched it.
05:00I'm not going to have a problem with that because I think he's good.
05:04I think the most they can offer is less than $40 million per year.

06:40So I think you've got to guard against that.

06:46But he's probably going to get just north of $40 million per year was what I would predict.
