00:06Let's get to a big breaking news that's coming in on the Jharkand Rajasabha polls.
00:11There were two seats up for grabs and guess what?
00:14The independent candidate Parimal Natwani has won the Rajasabha poll.
00:18Parimal Natwani was in fact an NDA-backed independent candidate.
00:22So he's won after alleged cross-voting.
00:25It's led to questions really of what will be the impact and what does this mean for the JMM?
00:30But let me bring in Maria Shaquille for more details.
00:33Maria, this is another twist really that's played out in the Jharkand Rajasabha election.
00:37What does this really mean for the JMM?
00:39I would say that it isn't really much of a surprise.
00:43Parimal Natwani has represented Jharkand in the Rajasabha three times in the past.
00:50So certainly, you know, he himself is saying that this is his third term.
00:55As this will be my third term from Jharkand, independent candidate backed by the BJP, Parimal Natwani secured 28 votes
01:04and has won.
01:06You know, the other candidate was, of course, of the JMM.
01:10The third candidate in the fray was the Congress candidate.
01:13And the sense was that the Mahagatbandhan will come together to ensure that the Pranav Jha of the Congress, because
01:21that ticket was given to Pranav Jha of the Congress party, will secure the vote.
01:25That hasn't really happened.
01:26So the differences within the India bloc, the Mahagatbandhan in Jharkand did not stand united, is the bigger message.
01:34But Parimal Natwani winning, I would say, is not much of a surprise.
01:39He is known as ensuring someone who would be able to manage candidates.
01:44So this is some kind of Rajasabha elections, this is about management of MLAs that has happened in Jharkand again.
01:52And Parimal Natwani going on to win from Jharkand for the third time.
01:57He was earlier elected first time, I remember, in 2008.
02:02So certainly a massive victory for Parimal Natwani, a renowned businessman who comes from the Reliance Group.
02:09All right. Thanks very much, Maria, for joining us with those details.
02:11I mean, all that's happening with the DMC, with Yudhav Sena.
02:14This particular development has also led to endless buzz over what it means in Jharkand for the India bloc.
02:21But the independent candidate there, Parimal Natwani, winning for the third term, as Maria tells us,
02:26yes, reportedly due to cross-voting.
02:28But in a Rajasabha election, it's all about getting the support, getting those numbers.
