National Democratic Alliance ally and Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas chief Chirag Paswan has warned that his party will contest all 403 seats independently in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh if seat-sharing talks fail or if the party is not adequately represented within the coalition. Speaking at an election rally, Paswan cited his party's alliances at the Centre, in Bihar, and in Jharkhand, alongside an independent contest in Nagaland. Analysts describe the move as tactical posturing to secure accommodation from the Bharatiya Janata Party amidst multiple regional allies in Uttar Pradesh.

00:00Breaking news that's coming in from poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, where there seems to be some trouble within the NDA
00:06ahead of the UP elections.
00:09BJP's ally, Union Minister Chirag Paswan, has warned that his party, LGP Rambalas, will contest on all seats on his
00:17own if alliance talks fail.
00:20So far, there's been no breakthrough in really the alliance talks, and that's because largely on seat-sharing issues, there
00:26will be some hiccups.
00:27And now, Chirag Paswan talking tough to his ally, saying that the LGP Rambalas will contest on all seats on
00:33their own if alliance talks fail or if they feel that they're not being adequately represented within the NDA.
00:41Listen in to what Chirag Paswan said.
01:14Rohit Singh is joining us with more details.
01:16Rohit, as Chirag Paswan says, you know, they're part of the NDA in the centre, they're part of the NDA
01:22in Bihar, and yet in UP he suggests that that's not necessarily going to happen, that there's a possibility of
01:29his party fighting in all seats on their own.
01:32What explains this?
01:33Has there been some sort of differences between the BJP and the LGP?
01:39Well, I think what is Chirag Paswan maintaining at this point of time is mere posturing, because the talks as
01:48far as the seat-sharing agreement in Uttar Pradesh is concerned is not started as per sources, and discussions are
01:56going on, however.
01:58And Chirag Paswan is very keen on contesting the UP elections, as he has been earlier also, and he wants
02:07that the BJP should accommodate in Chirag Paswan's party also as far as the seat-sharing agreement is concerned, because
02:15there are the partners in the NDA in Uttar Pradesh, where seat-sharing agreement has to take place.
02:22So now he is basically, it's a pressure tactics that is being applied by Chirag Paswan, that if at all
02:28he is not inducted, or maybe he's not part of the NDA in Uttar Pradesh, then he might as well
02:36go ahead and contest all the 403 seats in UP.
02:41So I think that at this point of time, when he was addressing this election rally in Uttar Pradesh today,
02:46it was more of a pressure tactics.
02:49Back to you.
02:50Okay, pressure tactics even before the talks begin.
02:53And so you can see the Chirag Paswan is trying to set the stage for ensuring that the LGPA also
02:59makes a smooth entry into Uttar Pradesh.
03:01Thanks very much, Rohit, for those details.
