The Rookie – Season 1 follows John Nolan, a 45-year-old man who decides to completely change his life after a traumatic event. Leaving behind his old career, he moves to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer with the LAPD. As the department's oldest rookie, Nolan faces skepticism from his superiors and fellow officers, who doubt whether he can handle the challenges of police work.

Alongside fellow rookies Lucy Chen and Jackson West, Nolan must prove that age is not a limitation while learning to survive the dangerous and unpredictable streets of Los Angeles. Season 1 combines action, drama, humor, and emotional character development as the rookies struggle to balance personal lives with the demands of law enforcement.

00:00I came to get us, so everybody get down, get down, get down, get down, get down, get down.
00:05Should we be flattered that Sergeant Grace elected us to represent the department at this block party?
00:09I think you're forgetting four key words on our day off.
00:13I'll take it as a vote of confidence.
00:18This is some great swag. Did you get this one great?
00:21I think Officer Above and Beyond bought those himself.
00:24Hey, I got a guy at Kinko's, okay?
00:27All right, okay, you guys make stuff useful and fill these up with water.
00:32It's all a hose in that side yard.
00:38Get out, get out!
00:42How you doing?
00:44Fine.
00:46Do you want to talk about it?
00:47There's nothing to talk about, so let's just focus on the work.
00:52I just wanted to make sure you weren't still mad.
00:55Do I look mad?
00:57No.
01:02Look, you're on the rebound from a 20-year marriage.
01:05This was never going to be a long time, so let's just move on.
01:13Is that your girlfriend?
01:15Hey, kids.
01:16Ever been tased?
01:19She's a nice pants.
01:20Thank you, sir.
01:21She might be your only hope to lure those kids from LAFD.
01:24All due respect, sir.
01:26They have a fire engine to a six-year-old.
01:28That's crack.
01:32I am not going to be shown up by some department that publishes shirtless calendars.
01:39West, Chin, let's get in the game.
01:52Hey.
01:53Hey.
01:58Hypothetically, if a neighborhood cat has been killed, can the owners contact the authorities?
02:02Will you investigate?
02:03Did you kill a cat?
02:05I told you the cat's hypothetical.
02:08Did you kill anything non-hypothetical?
02:12Hey!
02:13You're free!
02:14You don't have to run.
02:23Hey, guys.
02:24Where's your friend?
02:25He ran out of ammo.
02:31Can't do that.
02:32I'm the only one here.
02:33No.
02:34No.
02:35No.
02:37No.
02:39No.
02:40No.
02:43No.
02:48Help! Stop breathing! Ready to CPR, master!
02:53Hurry up! Grab that gurney!
03:16Good job, Antonio.
03:22Good job.
03:27I'm gonna wear all you like I know you want me to do it.
03:37We'll see.
03:44...
03:51...
03:57...
03:59...
04:18Oh, hey, is that how you greet your best friend turned landlord?
04:25I wasn't expecting you for another week.
04:26I got homesick.
04:28I mean, I was also worried that I abandoned you in your time of need.
04:30Yeah, it's been really tough living here.
04:32You know what I mean?
04:33Come here.
04:34Good to see you.
04:35You too.
04:36Oh, man.
04:37You look good.
04:39Coffee machine.
04:41Yeah, hot off the factory floor.
04:42It's from my foundation in Guatemala that empowers young mothers by helping them to start their
04:47own business.
04:47Making hot beverages.
04:48Among other things.
04:49I didn't think you'd want the lactation device.
04:51Good call.
04:52Yeah.
04:53So when did you start carrying a gun?
04:55When I became a cop.
04:56Oh, you didn't think I was going to see it through?
04:59No.
05:00Well, maybe a little.
05:01I just assumed that you'd get distracted by the sunshine and yoga instructors.
05:07Well, not that anyone will blame you, but being a cop seems really dangerous.
05:11It is.
05:12But it's also very fulfilling.
05:14That's great.
05:16You needed a purpose.
05:17So no yoga instructors?
05:20I did have a thing with one of my fellow rookies.
05:23What about them?
05:24Well, we're both responsible adults.
05:26How old is she?
05:2928.
05:31You've been 40 since you were 20.
05:33Right?
05:34Not everybody's like you.
05:35Was it serious?
05:40Yeah.
05:42Then it's good that I'm home.
05:48All right, settle down.
05:50Settle down.
05:51Settle down.
05:52Listen, everyone knows what today is.
05:54And I just want to say that Team Bradford is going to dominate once again.
05:58Yeah, not this year, Plonby.
06:00Go down, man.
06:01Go down.
06:01Go down.
06:02Dominate what?
06:03The roundup.
06:05Happens every year when the rookies are a month into the job.
06:07The T.O. sponsor a competition for the most felony arrests in one shift.
06:10Sounds like fun.
06:12What?
06:13We were both there when pub trivia almost got violent.
06:16I like a little healthy competition.
06:19Are you kidding?
06:20You're cutthroat and relentless, which I respect.
06:23So all right, settle down.
06:25I think I didn't see you open my spot, Bradford.
06:27So I am aware that today is the day where our T.O. units compete for most arrests.
06:33Under no circumstance does the department endorse this, meaning
06:40I don't want to hear about your points or strategy.
06:45Am I clear, Officer Bradford?
06:48Yes, sir.
06:48This job isn't about winning.
06:50It's about good policing and teamwork.
06:52We win at any cost.
06:54Sergeant Gray just said...
06:55He said he doesn't want to hear about it, which is different than saying don't do it.
06:58The scoring is like football.
07:00Seven points for a felony arrest, three points for a misdemeanor, and we focus on quality over quantity.
07:05Okay, so what's our strategy?
07:07So, Sloan steady or shock at all?
07:09Neither.
07:10We're not playing.
07:11But Jackson said all the T.O.'s compete.
07:12Well, he was misinformed.
07:14But if we were to win...
07:15Officer Nolan, if you make it to T.O. then you can choose to play.
07:18But right now the decision is mine, and we will not be participating.
07:22Is that clear?
07:23Understood.
07:32Hold up, Ruth.
07:36What?
07:41What is that?
07:43Insurance.
07:45Wow.
07:52Now, look at you, you are positively glowing.
07:57What's your secret?
07:59Um, I hiked Malibu Creek yesterday.
08:02You should try it, good for the soul.
08:03I bet.
08:05Listen, I saw this at the bookstore yesterday.
08:07Thought of you.
08:09That is so sweet.
08:12Oh my gosh, Kilimanjaro.
08:14I've been dying to go someday.
08:17You will.
08:18Hey, so listen, as calls come in that sound like felony arrests,
08:22can you send them to us and not over the radio?
08:25Um, that would qualify as favoritism, so...
08:29But I am your favorite.
08:32Come on, for me.
08:36Isn't that cheating?
08:38I'm celebrating the unsung heroes of the LAPD.
08:41In exchange for hot calls.
08:43Isn't our job to respond to any crime, no matter the anticipated outcome?
08:47Of course.
08:49But if you're gonna be some Pollyanna on my shoulder all day,
08:51I'll be happy to loan you out to clean the drunk tank.
08:53Heard there were some heavy pukers there last night.
08:57Clearly, I misspoke when I said cheating.
09:02You gotta be kidding me.
09:04Oh, hey.
09:04Look what we found just two blocks away.
09:06A burglary and conspiracy lookout.
09:08Yeah.
09:09Are you here booking someone?
09:10No.
09:11Then I guess we're first on the board.
09:1314 points.
09:14Ah!
09:16Seven out of 15.
09:17Property damage.
09:18Washington and Carson.
09:19Multiple callers report man on scaffolding causing a 415 LAFD on scene.
09:24Is this a Banksy thing?
09:26Don't care.
09:26It's a crime thing.
09:28So is there a reason we can't compete in the roundup?
09:30Because I said so should be all the reason you need.
09:32If you're worried I can't be impartial because of Lucy, don't be.
09:35Because that's over now.
09:36Really?
09:37How are you handling it?
09:39I see a little blame in your eyes.
09:41No, ma'am.
09:42It's the right thing to do.
09:44And do not worry.
09:45It will not affect my work.
09:47Glad to hear that.
09:48I'm gonna go check in with the fire captain.
09:49Keep an eye on our vandal.
09:50All right.
09:51Hey, come on down.
09:53Seven out of seven.
09:54Wellness check.
09:55552 Oakwood.
09:56ER nurse reports patient with suspected stroke disappeared from the hospital.
10:00Seven out of seven.
10:01Show us code six on the wellness check.
10:04Fourteen points out the gate.
10:05You ever done that before?
10:06No, but we gotta keep the pressure on.
10:08Bradford's always got a trick or two up his sleeve.
10:10I hope our patient didn't come home and croak.
10:12Or we'll get stuck here all day.
10:14Wow.
10:14Less than an hour into the competition and you're already exhibiting a visible lack of compassion.
10:19I'm sorry.
10:19You're right.
10:20That was extremely insensitive of me.
10:23Police!
10:26Mr. Walker?
10:27Yeah?
10:28Sir, are you okay?
10:30Your ER nurse said you left the hospital before you were discharged.
10:32She tried calling you but you didn't answer.
10:34Oh.
10:35Uh.
10:37I'm sorry.
10:38I was feeling better and that hospital food, you know, it's just so awful.
10:42So I came home for some leftovers.
10:44Can you please tell her thank you from me for checking up on me?
10:49Yeah, sure thing.
10:50Hope you feel better, sir.
10:55Okay, sweet.
10:56He's fine and we can get back out there.
11:00What?
11:03He was lying to us.
11:04About what?
11:05I don't know but he was clearly nervous.
11:07You were so ready to move on you missed it.
11:24Oh.
11:34Stealing opioids from the hospital is a felony, Mr. Walker.
11:37I'm just making ends meet.
11:39Do you know how hard it is living a fixed income?
11:41My grandparents moved into a townhouse.
11:44I'm just saying.
11:46There's options.
11:54Any way we can speed things up, I've blown up pool rafts faster.
11:57Ah.
11:58We almost there, bro.
11:59Meanwhile, gotta stay high, baby.
12:01Thanks.
12:02Hey, good job with that kid yesterday.
12:05I mean, my part gets all the attention but you were the real hero.
12:08Well, my son was a daredevil since birth.
12:10I keep an eye on him 24-7.
12:12You sound like my dad, man.
12:16Hey, that rookie cop, Lucy, she single?
12:19Because I picked up on a vibe yesterday.
12:22I think so.
12:24Cool.
12:25Thanks, bro.
12:28Thanks, bro.
13:03Hey, there.
13:05You got something against Guns at Garden or just science in general?
13:09You think this funny?
13:11You know, five years ago, I got pulled over with an ounce of weed in my car.
13:14An ounce.
13:16I couldn't afford no lawyer, so the public defender made me take a deal.
13:20Five years I sat in that box, man.
13:22And you mean to tell me all these little Silver Lake hipster kids,
13:25they could just walk around vaping like it's nothing?
13:28I can see why you're frustrated.
13:29Don't patronize me, man!
13:31Because it was a cop just like you that put me in that box.
13:36You know, my mom died while I was inside, man.
13:41And now every time I fill out a job application, I gotta put down felony.
13:46Okay, look.
13:46What happened to you was wrong.
13:48Okay, but this, this is just gonna make it worse, right?
13:54Come on, let's, let's get down from here.
14:00Okay.
14:05Alex!
14:05Alex!
14:14Ow.
14:25Officer Nolan is there a reason you're walking with an OG lean?
14:28No, I just my right shoulder is just a little tingling.
14:31Tingly.
14:32Because I don't remember telling you to climb up there
14:34and remove the suspect.
14:35And you don't put yourself in a high-risk situation
14:37without my say-so.
14:38Right.
14:39I just had a slight miscommunication
14:41with that firefighter.
14:42Is that right?
14:43Is that the same guy who asked me about a hot rookie
14:46named Lucy?
14:47You too?
14:48God, that guy's a piece of work.
14:56Is that why you ignored proper protocol
14:57and climbed up there?
14:58Or was it the competition?
15:00Uh, OK, look, you told me to stop dating Lucy, and I did.
15:04Then you told me I couldn't compete.
15:06Haven't I earned a slightly longer leash with you?
15:08No.
15:09And after what happened out there, it's
15:10clear you don't deserve one.
15:23Nolan and Tally are on the board.
15:25Damn it.
15:26Call now.
15:26Put her on speaker.
15:29Um, hello?
15:33Hey, it's Officer Bradford.
15:35You haven't forgotten about me, have you?
15:38No.
15:38Of course not.
15:39Um, we've actually just, we've been a little slow.
15:43Oh, um, we just got a 911 call.
15:46DUI hit and run, teenage pedestrian injured, black 528I,
15:50last seen eastbound on Melrose.
15:52Perfect.
15:52Attach us to that, please.
15:54And Nell.
15:55Mm-hmm?
15:55You're the best.
16:02Seven item 15.
16:03We have a noise complaint at the Eaton Company lofts,
16:05number 501.
16:08We're gonna shut this down.
16:10No cowboy stuff, understood?
16:11Yes, ma'am.
16:12You've been very clear.
16:13Really?
16:13Is that why you're on a group text about the score?
16:16You can't keep secrets from me, Officer Nolan.
16:18I thought we established that, so stop trying.
16:20Yes, ma'am.
16:23L.A.P.D., open up, Mr. Ascari.
16:26Uh, come in.
16:27Just give me a second.
16:30Open up.
16:31Open up.
16:33Uh, can I help you?
16:35We got a noise complaint.
16:36You've been playing loud music for hours.
16:38I'm sorry.
16:40I just wound up a little school.
16:43My office is next door.
16:45I stay here when I work late.
16:47We were just having a little fun.
16:49No harm in that, right?
16:50Depends on what kind of fun you're having.
16:53Uh, just give us a moment.
16:56I do believe he's paying these ladies.
16:58What's the point?
16:58Well, shouldn't we arrest them for prostitution?
17:00With what evidence?
17:01Cite the guy for noise.
17:02Identify the girls.
17:03We'll pass it on to Vice.
17:05Hey, Mr. Ascari.
17:06I'm just gonna need a little bit of information.
17:11Hello.
17:12Officer Bishop.
17:14We have a gun.
17:17Hmm.
17:17Do you have a permit for this weapon, sir?
17:19A friend gave it to me.
17:22That's a felony weapon position.
17:24Everybody get dressed.
17:25We're taking Peter for a ride.
17:29You all paid up with the girls?
17:33Nice try.
17:34Almost had him.
17:35Yeah.
17:37Mel seems nice.
17:40Yeah.
17:41What's your point?
17:43She likes you.
17:45She's doing me a favor.
17:47That's all.
17:48I'm married, Officer Chen.
17:50This isn't something you and I talk about.
17:52Keep your eyes peeled for our DUI.
17:53Yes, sir.
17:58There.
17:59Seven out of 19 DUI suspect sighted heading east on Melrose.
18:06Seven out of 19 turning north onto Serrano.
18:15Let's go, Boop.
18:16You might try and run.
18:17LAPD.
18:18Hands.
18:19Don't move.
18:19Show us your hands.
18:22Whoa.
18:24This is a first.
18:31Don't worry.
18:32I'm not going anywhere.
18:34Seven out of 19 DUI suspect sighted Melrose in Serrano.
18:38We need ambulance and fire.
18:40Post three.
18:50Sir, just hang in there.
18:52The ambulance is here now.
18:53Should I pull it out?
18:54No, no, no.
18:55Don't move.
18:55Don't move.
18:56Stay still.
18:57I'm going to cut this pipe.
18:58Three.
18:59Two.
19:09You have the right to remain silent.
19:11Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law.
19:14You have the right to an attorney present during questioning.
19:16If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to represent you.
19:19Do you understand each of these rights?
19:20Yes, sir.
19:21Now, you're required to provide a chemical sample suspected of driving while impaled.
19:24Sorry, impaired.
19:26You can choose between blood, breath, or urine.
19:28A refusal will result in the immediate suspension of your license for a minimum of a year.
19:32We need to get him to surgery.
19:34No, not before I get my blood draw.
19:3521-gauge vial.
19:36Can't this wait?
19:37He's obviously just-
19:38What?
19:39Huh?
19:39He's what?
19:40He's dying?
19:41This guy got drunk and hit a kid with his car.
19:43Maybe killed him.
19:44If we wait, his blood alcohol will return to normal and we'll lose a crucial piece of evidence.
19:48Are you sure this has nothing to do with the seven-point felony arrest?
19:51Boot.
19:51Criminals get hurt all the time during a crime.
19:53They don't get special treatment if they get a boo-boo.
19:55Understood?
19:56Yes, sir.
20:02Call in our seven-point.
20:09Haha, there must be some way we can work this out.
20:11Are you offering us a bribe?
20:14Everyone knows the cops are underpaid.
20:16Yeah, don't look at me.
20:17I don't pay rent and I live right by the ocean.
20:19Mr. Askar, you're already facing one felony.
20:21You wanna add to those charges?
20:22No.
20:23Let's just get this over with.
20:24Officer Bishop, Captain wants to see you in the bullpen.
20:27Start processing him, I'll be back.
20:28Okay.
20:31All right, I'm gonna need your shoes and your socks.
20:34There.
20:36I know that look.
20:38I mean, I've never been caught in a room full of hookers with a gun before,
20:42but I can clearly see you are not looking forward to the phone call to your wife.
20:46My wife's the least of my problems.
20:48What does that mean?
20:49News travels quick in my line of work.
20:51And what line of work is that?
20:53Banking.
21:00You know that guy?
21:02Yeah.
21:05He's the lawyer.
21:07I mean, my lawyer.
21:12Article 849B authorizes peace officers to release arrested persons from custody due to insufficient
21:17grounds to file a complaint against said person.
21:20Conceal and carry permit.
21:21Signed by Judge Sather.
21:22How'd you even know he was arrested?
21:24Did one of his hookers call you?
21:26Who called me is not your concern.
21:27You have no right to hold my client, so release him immediately.
21:34You can stop printing him.
21:36Suspect's attorney has provided a permit for the weapon.
21:38He has?
21:40Is that a problem?
21:41Do you not want to go?
21:44No.
21:46I mean, yes.
21:47Yes.
21:47All right.
21:49Can you take him to his lawyer?
21:50Mm-hmm.
21:57I don't get it.
21:59If he had a permit for the gun, why not just tell us back at the apartment?
22:02I doubt he had one an hour ago.
22:04Can you get a permit that fast?
22:06If you know the right people.
22:07Usually when a fancy lawyer shows up with a same-day permit, there's usually a link to organized crime.
22:12Have you had the big fish, little fish conversation yet?
22:14No.
22:14Only big fish, little fish I'm familiar with are Dr. Seuss related.
22:18This is not that.
22:19There is a hierarchy in the street, just like there is in here.
22:22Patrol are the foot soldiers.
22:23Little fish.
22:24Dealing with the other guy's foot soldiers.
22:26The bigger their fish, the higher up the ladder you have to go.
22:28Mr. Ascari is clearly connected to a big fish who was the juice to get that kind of permit.
22:34The numbers are black and white.
22:36We have 28, while each of you only have seven.
22:38There's still a whole second half of our shift, and you know I'm a closer.
22:41You know we're not playing.
22:42Oh, right.
22:43You're above all this.
22:44Mm.
22:45When your chief who promised not to divulge you had any fun on the job.
22:48It's not fun.
22:49It's a relic of a time when the department drove a wedge between the cops and the community.
22:53I get it.
22:53You think it promotes an us-versus-them mentality.
22:55And you're right.
22:56But the them isn't the community.
22:57It's the criminals.
22:59I just arrested a guy for putting a teenager in a coma.
23:01And I'm not going to apologize for hustling to get that guy off the street.
23:03I'm not asking you to.
23:05All I'm asking you to do is take a hard look as to whether this contest teaches those rookies the
23:09right lesson.
23:11I just don't think septuagenarian should even count.
23:13I don't know why we're arguing a lot.
23:15It's because we're a bad loser.
23:16A felony drug bust is a felony drug bust.
23:18He does this with Monopoly.
23:20Changes the rules mid-game.
23:22When do we play Monopoly?
23:26You weren't there.
23:27It was, um...
23:29No.
23:30When was this?
23:32Time to go, Boop.
23:34Okay.
23:37Later.
23:42You okay?
23:44Fine.
23:45Just focusing on the job.
23:48I meant your arm.
23:50You're clearly in pain.
23:51No.
23:52If I was in pain, can I do this?
23:56That firefighter Antonio said you did a high dive.
24:00Why did you talk to Antonio?
24:02He called.
24:03It was fast.
24:04Is that a problem?
24:06Not at all.
24:07No.
24:07We're moving on, right?
24:13Yeah.
24:15Right.
24:25Do I need to be worried that your mood is going to affect our chances in this competition?
24:28I'm fine.
24:29Because I've won this five years encounter.
24:31Yeah, I get it.
24:32I won't let you down.
24:36You're clear what happened earlier with our DUI, right?
24:41That wasn't about score.
24:42It was about making sure that guy sees the inside of a cell.
24:45Yeah.
24:46It's just...
24:48It's hard when he's the one that's bleeding out in front of you.
24:51You stood.
24:53But it's our job to always maintain perspective.
25:00Hey, so we just got a call about an armored car robbery.
25:04Suspects were seen wearing ski masks on Wilshire and Robertson.
25:07Hot damn.
25:08We're back in it.
25:22Get down, boot!
25:39What happened?
25:40There's a safety feature in armored cars that allows drivers to escape to the back under fire.
25:44They're now locked in a bulletproof fortress and we're going to be here all day trying to get them out.
25:517 out of 19. Shots fired. Suspects barricaded. Requesting SWAT.
25:55I'll call the armored car company. They should have a master key.
25:58It'll take them hours to get here.
25:59Hours where Lopez and Talia are running up the score on us.
26:03You seem more interested in that than in us getting lit up by the guys in the truck.
26:07What happened to maintaining perspective?
26:09You know, save the cycle analysis for Christmas dinner with the folks.
26:12Okay, my perspective is spot on.
26:13I want to win and put these guys behind bars.
26:16Yeah, I do too, but they're not going down without a fight. We need backup.
26:19And I called for it.
26:20Which is what they expect us to do.
26:23But they think...
26:26They think we'll stay here all day and wait for them.
26:29Which means their guard will be down.
26:41It's bulletproof. You're not going to get in with us.
26:43I don't need to get in. I need them to come out.
26:45They're armed and barricaded. We should wait for SWAT.
26:48The weapons won't matter if they can't see anything. Cover the back.
27:01Just have pepper spray and...
27:06Oh...
27:16Grab your weapon! Down on the ground! Down on the ground!
27:19Down on your stomach!
27:20Hands behind your back!
27:21Hands behind your back!
27:23Now, any carjacking? Armed robbery? Attempted murder?
27:27That's 14 more points, boot.
27:30I know who the banker's big fish is.
27:32Viggo Petrov, high-ranking member of the Odessa Mafia.
27:35The Russian mob?
27:36They're responsible for heroin, money laundering, prostitution.
27:41How does Peter connect?
27:42DA suspects that he's Petrov's money launderer.
27:44Explains why they sent the lawyer so quickly.
27:47Petrov can't risk Peter getting chatty when faced with jail time.
27:50Mm-hmm.
27:50DA was actually pissed that we let him go so quickly.
27:52They thought I should be holding on to him for the full 24 hours the law allows.
27:55I told him I don't do business that way.
27:57How did that go over?
27:58As well as you can imagine.
28:03Hey.
28:04Tim and Lucy just got 14 more points.
28:06We need to get back out there.
28:08Do I feel like salty or sweet?
28:11Did you hear what I said?
28:13Relax.
28:13We're still in the lead.
28:14There's only a few more hours left in our shift.
28:16Teams lose when they play safe.
28:18They also lose when they abandon the fundamentals.
28:20I rushed through a few arrests when I played as a rookie and they got bounced.
28:23I learned the hard way that guns blazing isn't a good mode for this line of work.
28:26Does it mean we're not going to try and win this thing?
28:28It means we need to win it the right way.
28:31Is that a problem?
28:33No, ma'am.
28:34Good answer.
28:38Salty.
28:43Where are you going?
28:44Uh, my shift's over.
28:46Mine's not.
28:48Anyway, you can stick around and be a part of the Bradford team.
28:50A little longer.
28:51How much longer?
28:53Three hours.
28:54Well, that will cost you a drink.
28:59That'll be later.
29:00After.
29:01When you're off duty.
29:03Deal.
29:06Deal.
29:07Thanks.
29:08Mm-hmm.
29:16Seven Adam 15, mother and child causing a disturbance at Southland Sanctuary Shelter, 69302 Western.
29:22It's not right!
29:23Where the hell are we supposed to go?
29:25Ma'am, I'm going to need you to calm down a bit.
29:27Ma'am, what's going on?
29:28We need beds.
29:30We slept on the street last night, but it's not safe.
29:32I'm sorry.
29:33I wish we could help, but we have no empty beds.
29:35And state law prohibits us from accepting any more people.
29:38Hi there, little guy.
29:40I'm John.
29:41You look cold.
29:41Are you feeling cold?
29:43Okay, hang on a sec.
29:45I'll be right back.
29:48Did you tell her about other shelters in the area?
29:50Yes, but they've already been turned away at the ones nearby.
29:54All right.
29:58Here you go.
29:59This will help a little.
30:00That'll warm you up.
30:05You can keep that.
30:06Thanks.
30:08Officer Nolan, a word.
30:12They can't sleep in the lobby.
30:13We're going to have to escort them out.
30:15That's not right.
30:16We can't just kick them out.
30:17Yeah, well, unfortunately, the city has 60,000 homeless.
30:20We can't find beds for all of them.
30:21Oh, but we can find beds for these, too.
30:24Even if it takes the rest of our shift?
30:26And you lose the competition?
30:30We're not playing, remember?
30:33We're going to have to wait for them.
30:39Can you give us a list of all the city shelters?
30:41We're going to start making some calls.
30:43Okay.
30:52Yeah, no, thank you for double checking.
30:54No, I get it.
30:56Yes, thank you.
30:58Those are the last ones.
31:01What about taking them out of the city?
31:02We give them a ride.
31:03No, we can't.
31:05Sadly, there's nothing more we can do.
31:12I'm sorry, but we, uh, we couldn't find you a place to sleep tonight.
31:16I'm so sorry.
31:18Thank you for trying.
31:27This is why I don't play.
31:29Because it's not a game.
31:48I'm sorry.
31:52Go on.
31:54I did blame you for Lucy, even though I know you were looking out for her.
32:00And then you barred me from the competition, and I...
32:05Let's just say it has not been my finest day on the job.
32:09We're not robots, Officer Nolan.
32:11We all have bad days.
32:13But our bad days pale in comparison to the people we meet.
32:16They need us at our best.
32:19You ever struggle with that?
32:23Every day.
32:25I just don't show it.
32:28Seven out of 15.
32:29Homeowner called about a possible intruder.
32:3171 Holby Avenue.
32:32Seven out of 15.
32:33Copy.
32:35Huh.
32:37What?
32:38Our banker, Peter Biscari.
32:39He's the homeowner.
32:40Seven out of 15.
32:42Be advised, that call was just canceled.
32:43Homeowner reported it was a raccoon.
32:45Seven out of 15.
32:46Copy.
32:47You buying that?
32:48What?
32:48Our mob banker, who was clearly freaked out over being arrested,
32:53calls 911 a button intruder this same night.
32:56I'm just saying, what if it wasn't a raccoon?
32:59You think he called again under duress?
33:01I think it's worth taking a look.
33:05Big fish, little fish, Officer Nolan.
33:07If it turns out to be something, we'll call in the big fish.
33:09Which is who we're getting exactly?
33:11SWAT.
33:24Seems quiet.
33:29Heard you attached to a false alarm.
33:31Figured something big might be up.
33:32How'd you hear that?
33:33Did you bribe dispatch again?
33:34Again?
33:36I just thought you might need some backup.
33:37Unless you're too focused on getting all the points for yourself.
33:40We're not playing.
33:41Well, then you won't mind us tagging along.
33:49I've got a body.
33:58They slit her throat.
34:01Seven out of 15.
34:02Requesting SWAT for a hostage situation.
34:04One dead.
34:04Code three.
34:07No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
34:11Guys, we can't wait.
34:14They've already killed one.
34:15They killed a banker's wife at any moment.
34:16We need to go in now.
34:17So, what, we're going still?
34:19Yeah.
34:20Upstairs or downstairs?
34:21We'll take upstairs.
34:32I don't know.
34:34I don't know.
34:35Stop crying.
34:36Wait.
34:37Stop, please.
34:39No.
34:42No.
34:44Wait.
34:44Wait, wait, wait.
34:45No.
34:45You have to believe me.
34:48Wait.
34:48Wait.
34:49Wait.
34:49We've got to get in there.
34:50We will.
34:51We just need Tim and Lucy to get into place.
35:07Is somebody else in the house?
35:09Hey, check.
35:09Go check again.
35:10We're we're we're here.
35:26We're we're here.
35:43Clear!
35:43Clear!
35:44Clear!
35:54Hey, how do we split up the points?
35:55I told you.
35:57I know, I know, you're not playing, but let me figure out how to split them up right.
36:01It's not tricky, just give them more.
36:04Wait, are you guys trying to rig it so Tim wins?
36:09Why would we do that?
36:11I don't know.
36:13This competition is clearly an emotional thing for him.
36:18It's personal, when he was a rookie.
36:23Is it Isabel?
36:25I met her once, I know that they were rookies together before they got married.
36:31Yeah.
36:33Yeah, and they loved the round-up.
36:35They had an epic competition.
36:38Do you really think holding onto this is what he needs?
36:43Maybe it's better for him to lose.
36:46This contest is the one day here Phil's connected to her.
36:49Do you really wanna take that away?
36:55After some complicated math, the winner is...
37:03Bradford and Jen!
37:05Woohoo!
37:07Which means their drinks are also free.
37:10Yay!
37:10Congrats man.
37:11Hey, how you doing man?
37:12Oh my god.
37:13Nah, I'll give you.
37:16Thanks.
37:21Hey.
37:23When's the last time you lost something?
37:25What?
37:26You broke all your dad's records at the academy.
37:28You were the first in your class.
37:30When's the last time you lost at a competition?
37:34I don't know.
37:35Can't remember.
37:37Sounds exhausting.
37:40Yeah.
37:41It is.
37:42Okay?
37:42Look, I just need to prove that I belong here.
37:46That I didn't just inherit the spot.
37:48That I earned it.
37:50Can I give you some advice?
37:52Sure.
37:53Nobody cares how you got here if you can get the job.
37:56So, give yourself a break every now and then.
38:05Hey.
38:06Thanks for looking out for me today.
38:08Oh.
38:09Um, it was, it was my pleasure.
38:11I'm glad you won.
38:12You were right.
38:14You are my favorite.
38:18Look, now I, I should tell you.
38:22I'm married.
38:24Huh.
38:25I didn't know that.
38:26Yeah.
38:27It's complicated.
38:28But, I, I could still buy you the drink to say thanks.
38:33Yeah.
38:35Sorry, I don't do complicated.
38:36But, um, thanks for the book.
38:46Hey.
38:48Hey.
38:50Sorry you lost.
38:52I'm happy you won.
38:55Uh, look, I, I lied, uh, when I said I wasn't bothered by Antonio hitting on you.
39:00But it's not my place to be jealous.
39:01Of what?
39:03I said no.
39:05I didn't break up with you so I could date somebody else.
39:08I did it so I could focus on being a cop.
39:15I'm an idiot.
39:17Yeah.
39:18I'm sorry.
39:25Me too.
39:28Uh, I will see you later.
39:32Right.
39:37So it turns out she's the mature one.
39:40Wow.
39:41You really have changed.
39:42It's not funny.
39:44Give yourself a break, John.
39:47When was the last time you were single?
39:50Before I was married.
39:51No.
39:52No, I dated Cindy Carducci all through high school.
39:54So, never.
39:57Wow.
39:58Yeah.
40:00You deserve some you, Tom.
40:02To be a little...
40:04more mature.
40:06Figure out who you are now that you're a single guy in LA.
40:09Make mistakes.
40:10Fall on your face.
40:13Being your own.
40:15I don't like falling on my face.
40:17Or being on my own.
40:19How would you know?
40:23To being on my own.
40:27Together.
40:50It's a cool guy.
40:51It's a cool guy.
41:01To be a little guy.
41:01No, no, no.
41:04It's impossible to...
41:04But...
41:04Here.
41:06To being on my own.
41:07To being on my own.
41:14You can see me going.
41:15No, no, no.
41:17Any other people will get rid of me.
41:18I just hope I'm not going.
