The Rookie – Season 1 follows John Nolan, a 45-year-old man who decides to completely change his life after a traumatic event. Leaving behind his old career, he moves to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer with the LAPD. As the department's oldest rookie, Nolan faces skepticism from his superiors and fellow officers, who doubt whether he can handle the challenges of police work.

Alongside fellow rookies Lucy Chen and Jackson West, Nolan must prove that age is not a limitation while learning to survive the dangerous and unpredictable streets of Los Angeles. Season 1 combines action, drama, humor, and emotional character development as the rookies struggle to balance personal lives with the demands of law enforcement.

00:00You think they'd get mad if we called in a sick week one?
00:02Previously on The Rookie.
00:03Time to play the training officer match game.
00:06Officer Bradford, you get Lucy Chen.
00:08Officer Lopez, Jackson West, Officer Bishop.
00:11You get John Nolan, the 40-year-old rookie.
00:14I've been trying to find you.
00:16Are you okay?
00:17I'm fine.
00:18That was my wife.
00:19I haven't seen her in almost a year.
00:20Show me those hands, now!
00:24You're a pain in my ass.
00:26That's my job.
00:27Get out, you're gonna cover me!
00:30Officer West, you didn't fire a single shot.
00:32It won't happen again.
00:33Not good enough.
00:40715, pursuing two members of a heist crew carrying stolen money.
00:44Dressed as zombies, sent back up to Westwood Metro Station.
01:02The Rookie's not gunned.
01:04Ow.
01:06Use my hands.
01:12Go.
01:13Move your hands.
01:21Go.
01:21Move your hands.
01:24Go.
01:25Get him, go.
01:47It's not funny.
01:54Yeah, sure it is.
01:54It's just not to you.
01:56Honestly, who steals stolen money right in front of a cop?
01:58Somebody stupid or desperate.
02:01I thought we were here to run.
02:02Oh, yes, we are.
02:03We just need a little more warm-up than you do.
02:04You look great, though.
02:05Yeah.
02:06You think you're cute, but the job's a marathon.
02:08And I'm not going to be the one who falls by the wayside
02:10because I didn't train.
02:12Look at good.
02:12You're at peace.
02:13We're right behind you.
02:20He's right, though.
02:21Tim gets back today, and I feel like I should have prepared myself,
02:24somehow, for the abuse to come.
02:25You saved the guy's life.
02:27He's going to cut you some slack.
02:28Does Talia ever cut you slack?
02:30Or Sergeant Gray?
02:32It's been good knowing you.
02:33Uh-huh.
02:34It's time to run, Officer Nolan.
02:36Let's go.
02:37Be right there.
02:38I'm just going to stretch a little more.
02:44So how are you feeling?
02:46Good.
02:47Everything OK with my green slip?
02:49Yeah.
02:49You're medically cleared to return to duty.
02:52Which means it's time for the so-you-got-shot speech.
02:56Only give it to officers wanted on the job.
02:59Lucky me.
03:00Yeah, lucky you.
03:02So you came in this morning thinking everything goes back to normal now.
03:06You could just flip a switch, and the trauma you suffered will go away.
03:12It won't.
03:13But you're trying to muscle your way through.
03:15That's what I did.
03:17Trust me.
03:18It didn't go well.
03:20I didn't know you got shot.
03:22My last year on patrol.
03:24Spent two weeks in the ICU.
03:26Rushed back, thinking I could put it all behind me.
03:30But it doesn't work that way.
03:33I understand.
03:34I promise I'll take it slow.
03:37OK.
04:00All right.
04:01All right.
04:01All right.
04:02Slow down.
04:03Slow down.
04:04Let's get to it.
04:05You ready, Officer Nolan?
04:07Once again, we start with you.
04:10I'm flattered?
04:11Don't be.
04:12Yesterday, a four-man crew disguised as zombies knocked over a cash advance near Pico and Robertson.
04:20So, Officers Bishop and Nolan were able to apprehend two of the criminals while the other two escaped.
04:26Somehow, Officer Nolan managed to let civilians steal 10 grand in already stolen cash.
04:31Luckily, CCTV captured our thief.
04:34Still waiting on an ID.
04:36Uh, he plays guitar, if that helps.
04:38Absolutely.
04:38Because they always list special talents on your rap sheet.
04:45Captain, how can we help you?
04:47First off, I wanted to welcome Tim Bradford back.
04:49If you need anything, you let me know.
04:51Yes, ma'am.
04:52Secondly, we just got some new intel on our zombies.
04:55Turns out that they're responsible for a rash of armed robberies in the last six months.
04:58Always disguised differently.
05:00The tech does want to get the two in custody to flip on their partners at large.
05:03But there is no guarantee.
05:05So, don't stop hunting.
05:07Finally, we got a request for a civil standby.
05:10Turns out somebody's getting fired from a tech job.
05:13Supervisor's worried things may not go right.
05:14Babysitting a termination.
05:17Patrol officer's favorite assignment.
05:21So, who should I bless with it?
05:25Officer Nolan, are you volunteering?
05:28Just embracing the inevitable, sir.
05:30Smart man.
05:31Get the address from dispatch.
05:33That's it.
05:37You sure you don't want me to drive?
05:40Why would I want that, boot?
05:42You think I'd go back on duty before I'm 100%?
05:45No, sir.
05:45Or you think simply doing your job during a firefight means you get special treatment?
05:49No, sir.
05:50You'll drive when you've earned it.
05:52Yes, sir.
05:56It's good to have you back.
05:58Damn straight.
06:00How could you possibly know he was going to take the money?
06:02Because everyone's an opportunist.
06:04Guy plays the guitar for change.
06:05He sees a bag of money.
06:06He's going to steal it ten times out of ten.
06:08So, your problem is that you think that people are inherently good.
06:11But you're wrong.
06:12People are good when it's easy.
06:14When push comes to shove, everyone crosses the line.
06:17Wow.
06:18I must have missed that chapter in Gandhi's biography.
06:20Yeah, well, until Gandhi shows up on Western Avenue, assume that everyone you meet is one bad day away from
06:25committing a crime.
06:26Understood.
06:27Of course you know Gandhi is dead.
06:34Morning.
06:35Morning.
06:37Doing some renovating?
06:38I just took my kitchen down to the studs.
06:40Big job.
06:41What did your contractor estimate?
06:43Two months?
06:43At four.
06:44He's lying.
06:46Longest it ever took me was three, and that was because the appliances were on back order.
06:50You tell him he doesn't beat his estimate, he's going to get a call from the LAPD.
06:54I will.
06:56Okay.
07:00Officers.
07:01I thought you'd be here 20 minutes ago.
07:04And Nancy's with you.
07:05We'll make this quick.
07:06Wait.
07:07What's going on?
07:09I think you are getting fired.
07:15Oh, thank God you guys are here.
07:18He's trapped in there.
07:19In where?
07:20The bank?
07:21No, in the wall.
07:22Mike went inside to fix an ATM last night before we closed, and we forgot he was in there and
07:27left.
07:28The lock must have broke when he tried to come back out, and he's been inside all night.
07:32Push this note through the receipt slot when he heard us come in.
07:41Control, 7 out of 19 requesting LAFD to 3301 Dittmer for a guy trapped in a wall.
07:49Sir, we're going to get you out of there.
07:53Sir, can you hear me?
08:00What's that supposed to mean?
08:02Epoxy.
08:02Go grab the halogen out of the trunk.
08:03We can't wait for the fire department.
08:05Sir, I need you to get low so I can open this wall up.
08:07How tall is the space behind the ATM?
08:09Oh, I don't know.
08:10It's pretty cramped in there.
08:11About five feet.
08:25Why am I doing this?
08:27Boot, get in there.
08:39Sir!
08:40Are you alright?
08:43Come on.
08:50Just to be clear, Mrs. Wu, you are not under arrest.
08:53But your former employer has indicated that you are no longer welcome back on premise.
08:56Why the hell would I want to come back here?
08:58Look, I've been where you are.
09:00I know how this feels.
09:01It's horrible.
09:02But it could actually be an opportunity in disguise.
09:04Alright, save the friendly act for the next person you strong arm.
09:09You do know that you're a cop, not a moving company.
09:12You were going the same way.
09:13I had an extra pair of hands.
09:14Exactly.
09:15Hands you would have needed if the situation went south.
09:17There's a reason her boss wanted us here.
09:19Yeah, but I'm not seeing you.
09:20There's no harm in just giving someone the benefit of the doubt.
09:25How does that feel, Chad?
09:28You idiot!
09:31Hey!
09:32Now!
09:347 out of 07, silent alarm, trip to Chili John's.
09:40You think it's actually a crime in progress?
09:419 times out of 10, a silent alarm is tripped accidentally, but you always treat it like it's real.
09:47Put the money in the damn bag!
09:48Put the money in the damn bag!
09:50Are you crazy?
09:51Hurry up!
09:51Hurry up!
09:527 out of 7, we have a 2-11 in progress at our location requesting backup.
09:55Do we go in?
09:56No, that'll just escalate things.
09:58We'll grab her on the way out.
10:01Police!
10:01Drop your weapon!
10:03Stop!
10:04That's a classic.
10:14Come on!
10:18Sue Clifford?
10:19Do I know you?
10:20You know her?
10:21She played ball for the Trojans.
10:22Best three-point shooter in the NCAA.
10:25Nice to meet a fan.
10:26Let me guess, you're waiting for the perfect moment to say I told you so?
10:29I get no pleasure in being right, Officer Nolan.
10:33Okay, I get a little.
10:35But were you right?
10:37I mean, just because she snapped in the moment, that doesn't make her a bad person.
10:40The why doesn't matter.
10:42Our job is not to weigh a citizen's morality, it's to enforce the law.
10:45And when push came to shove, she broke it.
10:487 out of 15, we have an ID on your guitar playing train thief.
10:51Suspect identified as Roman Ely, 617 South Cleaver Avenue.
10:557 out of 15, reattach us to 211, show us en route.
10:59Wow, 20 points a game, huh?
11:02You no joke.
11:04So what happened?
11:05I thought you got an offer to play for the WNBA.
11:08Blew out my niece's senior year, lost my scholarship.
11:11And now you commit armed robbery.
11:13What else am I qualified to do?
11:15You know, I met you once, at a party at USC.
11:18You were so passionate about playing ball, and I was so not about majoring in engineering.
11:22Got me thinking about going a different way, and well, here I am.
11:25How nice for you.
11:28You ever think about doing something else?
11:31Hell no.
11:32Being a cop was the only thing I ever wanted.
11:34Sure, but things don't always go your way.
11:36Gotta have a plan B, just in case.
11:38One out of three rookies washes out, so odds are either you, Chen, or Nolan won't be here in a
11:42year.
11:43I thought you were a sure bet to succeed at first, but those other two are rocking it, and you
11:48stumbled out the gate.
11:51That was a one-time thing.
11:53I have a long career, isn't it?
11:54Yeah, that's what I thought.
11:57Seven Atom 15, code six on our train theme.
12:02LAPD, open up!
12:06Sir, I can see you in there.
12:07Do not make me break this door down.
12:09Yeah, I'm sorry.
12:11I'm so sorry.
12:13Now put your hands where I can see them.
12:14Hands behind your head, interlock your fingers.
12:20Sir, where is the money?
12:21I swear I was gonna return it.
12:24Did you spend any of it?
12:33I...
12:34I just bought some groceries and had the water turned back on.
12:40I'm sorry.
12:40I'll pay it back.
12:42It just...
12:43It's been so hard.
12:46My wife died last year.
12:48Sir, put your hands behind your back.
12:49No, please, please.
12:50I've never even gotten a parking ticket before.
12:52Can I do something?
12:53I don't...
12:55Jacob, go back to your room, buddy.
12:57It's okay.
12:57He can come out.
13:00Okay, come out.
13:02Well, what's gonna happen to him?
13:05Child Protective Services will take him.
13:06If you have any family in the area, then they can pick him up later.
13:10Uh...
13:11Yeah, my wife's sister, she was in Chatsworth.
13:13We'll take her info, make sure CPS gets in touch.
13:17But for now, you're gonna need to come with me.
13:20Best I can do is make sure your son doesn't see you in cuffs.
13:24Please.
13:24I'm sorry, but you need to say goodbye.
13:28Okay.
13:29All right.
13:30Hey.
13:31Hey, bud.

20:45What the hell was that?
20:47Patrol work, brood.
20:48You planning on saying otherwise?
20:51No, sir.

21:03Yeah.
21:04Bunny and Beverly Hills PD just called.
21:06The other two members of that heist crew
21:08knocked over a jeweler's on cannon at lunchtime
21:10dressed as werewolves.
21:12Shot a guard made off with eight grand.
21:14Well, I've got news on the two we have in custody.
21:16Detectives executed a search warrant on the zombie's apartment.
21:19They found souvenirs from robberies they committed with the crew
21:22last year in Dallas and Phoenix.
21:23So they move around?
21:24Mm-hmm.
21:25And with their partners on ice here,
21:27I bet you they are ready to get out of Dodge.
21:29I'll alert patrol units.
21:30We gotta find these guys.
21:32Mm-hmm.
21:33Do that.
21:38So, how do you wanna write this one up?
21:41Carefully.
21:42Gray's a stickler for proper procedure.
21:48Well, if it isn't Officer Poodie Poodie, please come in.
21:53I'm on the bench.
21:55You.
21:55Me.
21:58Officer Nolan.
22:01Leaving a police vehicle unlocked so that your suspect can give a shot out over the shock radio
22:07is cause for discipline.
22:10Carelessness like that will not be tolerated here.
22:12Do you understand me?
22:13Understood, sir.
22:15Now what's gonna happen next?
22:16Sir.
22:18I left my door unlocked.
22:20I left my door unlocked.
22:21It wasn't Nolan.
22:23My office.
22:25Now.
22:33Get him processed.
22:35What about the booking approval?
22:37You made this arrest.
22:39You saw what happened.
22:41Write it up, Poop.
22:44I'm gonna take any jewelry you have, any piercings, anything in your pockets, your socks, your shoes.
22:49You're gonna give them to me.
22:52Can I talk to you?
22:58I'm worried about Tim.
22:59Why?
23:00He instigated a fight with a biker.
23:02Wouldn't let me call for backup.
23:03Could have gotten both of us killed.
23:06I think he's spinning out trying to prove himself.
23:08You think he came back to you soon?
23:10Maybe.
23:11He got hit with a lot of personal stuff on top of it, too.
23:14And he's not handling it well.
23:18Clearly you have to do something.
23:20Yeah, but what?
23:21Tim is my T.O.
23:22I'm not gonna narc on him.
23:25And you're gonna have to talk to him?
23:28Oh.
23:30It's not gonna go well.
23:33What other choice do you have?
23:37Six doses of Narcan.
23:39Throwing quite a party, huh?
23:41Hey.
23:42Biker's processed.
23:44Do we really need all that?
23:46Look, there's a bad batch of fentanyl making the rounds out there.
23:49Miller went through his entire overdose kit in two days.
23:54You gonna tell me how I went with Sergeant Gray?
23:56He put me on undocumented oral counseling.
23:58For leaving a door unlocked?
24:00I deserve it.
24:00I lost focus.
24:01But at least it's not on my record.
24:03Look, I appreciate you trying to cover for me.
24:05No problem.
24:06But it doesn't mean you're right about how you see people.
24:08You think I did that to try and prove a point?
24:11Trust me.
24:12I'm no Gandhi.
24:13I just don't think someone's life should be ruined because of one bad day.
24:15You're my partner, my training officer.
24:19And I've got your back.
24:20Even if you think I'm one bad lunch order away from a life of crime.
24:25I saw you rolling your eyes.
24:29Seven out of 19.
24:30Show us code six.
24:32Florence and Central Avenue.
24:34Stay here.
24:35Stay here.
24:47You deaf boot?
24:49I said stay in the car.
24:50You're not helping her.
24:51You're enabling her.
24:52You know this because you're some shrinks kid?
24:54She's gonna shoot up.
24:56Okay?
24:56That's the reality.
24:58This will save her life.
24:59Addiction doesn't just destroy the addict.
25:01It destroys the family.
25:02Who the hell are you to tell me this?
25:03You think I don't know?
25:04I'm your rookie.
25:05And I need you to train me.
25:07Not put me in danger because you can't handle losing your wife.
25:15Look.
25:16At least let me go up.
25:19If you do, it'll just confirm your worst fears.
25:22Do you really want to see how she's living or who she's living with?
25:30Paramedics.
25:30There's apartment 510.
25:48Isabel.
25:49Just wait.
25:49Wait.
25:50You can't come in without a warrant.
25:52My name is Officer Lucy Chen.
25:55Tim Bradford's my TO.
25:56He's downstairs.
25:57If you don't give me five minutes, he's gonna come up here and break this door down.
26:09So?
26:11What do you want?
26:15Do you know your husband was shot recently?
26:17We got ambushed.
26:19He took a bullet while returning fire.
26:21That's what you're doing here?
26:22Because he seems fine.
26:27Um.
26:29It's Narcan.
26:30It won't get you clean.
26:31Just reverse the effects of an OD.
26:35I know what Narcan is.
26:36It's been a decade bringing junkies back from the dead with him.
26:39You were a nurse?
26:40No.
26:40A cop.
26:41Narcotics.
26:42He didn't tell you?
26:47He doesn't really talk about you.
26:50I...
26:52That's good.
26:53So you guys were on the force together?
26:56Different divisions.
26:57I, uh...
26:58I worked out of the 77th.
27:00Volunteered for undercover as soon as I could.
27:03Tim was happy on patrol, so...
27:05We synced our shifts as best we could.
27:07It was perfect.
27:09Until it wasn't.
27:10So...
27:11Anyway.
27:19Hey, um...
27:20He really got shot?
27:23Yeah.
27:25Yeah.
27:26It was scary.
27:30Don't let him come back here.
27:32There's no future here.
28:12There's no future here.
28:13Don't let him come back here.
28:16She was a cop.
28:26I thought she was having an affair, staying out late, making excuses.
28:35I didn't realize it was the drugs until the hook was in deep.
28:48Her apartment is pretty decent.
28:55Thanks.
29:05You could be a nurse or get into I.T. There's always clown college.
29:11Look, I don't need a plan B. And if I did, it wouldn't be from some pamphlet you grabbed off
29:15the community board.
29:15How do you think I got the idea for the LAPD?
29:18Lopez West, zombie robbers just flipped on their partners.
29:21SWAT's hitting the house. We're providing tactical support.
29:24Me and the bullpen at five.
29:27All right, let's get started.
29:28Our targets are Steve Bauer, Kai DeVera.
29:32Bit of an odd couple. Bauer is known for at least six hardcore 211s.
29:36A lot of collateral damage in his wake.
29:38DeVera did two tours as a door gunner on a Blackhawk.
29:42Was under the radar until she hooked up with Bauer about a year ago.
29:45Remember, if anything, she's far more dangerous than he is.
29:48Sergeant Laubacher will be giving you the briefing.
29:50He's in charge of tonight's operation, so listen up.
29:52Thank you, Captain.
29:54Targets are at a house in the hills over the Sunset Strip.
29:57Ingress is limited, so we'll be coming in hot.
30:00Team one will be primary entry, deploying flashbangs and breaching tools.
30:04Team two, break and rake the back glass door.
30:08Tactical support, you're out of perimeter.
30:11Sergeant Gray has your positions.
30:12We'll go through detailed assignments on the drive-in.
30:15My team, let's go.
30:17Let's do it.
30:19It's all right.
30:21So we could do this whole thing in five minutes without flashbangs and bearcats.
30:25But SWAT has us on guard duty, so make sure they take it seriously.
30:30So I won't be embarrassed at the next special office picnic.
30:32Yes, sir.
30:33We won't let you down, Sergeant.
30:38Is there really a special office picnic?
30:41I didn't think so.
30:55It sucks you have to be down here.
30:57Yeah, we'll get used to it.
30:58Patrol is lowest on the totem pole when it comes to operations like this.
31:01Perimeter watch is a necessary part of police work.
31:04There's nothing to look down on.
31:05Is he for real?
31:06Yep.
31:06Doesn't have a plan B, though.
31:08What?
31:08Well, that's just crazy.
31:10I've been dealing with this crap all day.
31:12Officer Nolan, this is your plan B, right?
31:14Uh, more like plan D.
31:16First it was astronaut, then law school, then construction, then this.
31:19If this doesn't work out, I'm thinking beauty school.
31:25Should we go up there?
31:26No.
31:27No.
31:27But we should spread out and cover the perimeter.
31:36Shot fired.
31:36Shot fired.
31:37Shot fired.
31:37Shot fired's at large.
31:46Stop!
31:48Shot fired.
31:50Shot fired.
31:55Shot fired.
31:58Super beef.
32:00Shot fired.hhh,
32:13map pessoas 真的吗. Uh...
32:15com...
32:17Did we go after him?
32:247 Adam 15 in pursuit of armed robbery suspects heading south towards Franklin.
32:287 Adam 15, what street are suspects on?
32:30They're not on a street, they're running down the side of the canyon.
32:32Are we supposed to have an airship?
32:34En route.
32:36Does it ever feel normal?
32:38What?
32:38Just getting shot at, people trying to kill you for doing your job.
32:41Yes.
32:41Really?
32:42About as normal as taking a parent away from their kid, but we signed up for it all.
32:45If you start to get numb to it, you know it's time to turn in your papers.
32:48How could anyone feel numb to any of this?
32:51There, just shoved the last for me.
32:52Control, suspects are down on the flash heading for Western.
32:55Where's that backup?
32:567 Adam 19, we're inbound to assist.
32:58There.
33:067 Adam 19, we'll take Bauer, you take her.
33:177 Adam 19, we're in code 6, St. Gregory's, we have suspect at large in the hospital.
33:25There's a woman in a green army jacket run through here.
33:27Down that hallway.
33:29Get the elevators in first floor in lockdown.
33:31We have an armed suspect on the loose.
33:32We have a code gray.
33:34Code gray.
33:40Flash by Tom, boot.
33:42Eyes right.
33:43I got the left side covered.
33:537 Adam 19, shots fired at our location, requesting backup and airship.
34:02The good news is he's trapped.
34:06If I go over this trailer, I'll come up on top of him.
34:10With all due respect, I should go.
34:12Forget it.
34:15Improvisation is a useful tool for a rookie to learn.
34:24Good.
34:25All right, you pass tonight's test.
34:26Get your ass up there.
34:51Police!
34:52Drop your weapon!
34:54Do it now!
34:56Get down in your stomach!
35:03Hands are in your back.
35:06What do you want?
35:08Laws?
35:09Get down here.
35:117 Adam 19, code 4.
35:13One in custody, one outstanding.
35:16Careful, this girl was a door gunner for a Black Hawk helicopter.
35:19Not some crackhead with a 9 mil.
35:217 Adam, our wait is in place on east entrance.
35:24Additional units in route to assistant search.
35:27All right, every exit's secure.
35:29We just need to flush her out.
35:30No.
35:32No what?
35:33Every exit is not secure.
35:35You mean, here we go.
35:41Okay.
35:46There we go.
35:47We're here.
35:47On here.
36:047S-15 to air support, armed suspect to stolen medevac helicopter from the roof of St. Gregory
36:09Hospital.
36:09Request you respond and intercept.
36:24Drop your gun.
36:29No, but I'll put it away.
36:33Okay, okay.
36:36Now what?
36:37I shoot you and take my chances in the hospital after the cops clear out chasing the helicopter.
36:43Can I offer an alternate suggestion?
36:45No.
36:45Look, I don't know you, okay?
36:49Just what was on your bolo.
36:53Two tours.
36:54When we did an action, you're an honest-to-God American hero.
36:57Who's about to put a hollow point through your skull.
37:00Still think I'm a hero?
37:02Yes.
37:04Yes, because you're not going to do that.
37:08My training officer says that people are inherently flawed.
37:12That they're only good when it's easy.
37:18When things get challenging, they make a bad call.
37:21And then another.
37:21And then pretty soon you can't see good in your rearview mirror.
37:25She says that once you cross that line, you can't go back.
37:28But I don't believe that.
37:30I think you can.
37:32I think that good people will make the right choice when it really matters.
37:41Look, if I'm wrong, then you kill me.
37:49But if I'm right, then you just give up because this is a line you won't cross.
38:07Remind me not to get on your bad side.
38:10You okay?
38:11Yeah.
38:12Yep.
38:17Guess now we'll never know what choice she was going to make.
38:21You're the only one still in doubt here, Officer Nolan.
38:24Officer Nolan, I just saved your life.
38:27Well, that case, thank you.
38:38Officer Nolan, did you bail out your train thief?
38:42No.
38:44I did.
38:46He made a mistake.
38:47He's got a kid and he deserves to be at home.
38:50Not in some prison because he can't make bail.
38:52Officer Bistrop, I didn't take you for a softie.
38:54I'm not.
38:55But one bad day shouldn't ruin a man's life.
38:59You okay?
39:02What?
39:03I want to give you a hug.
39:05Do you want to get to Hayes?
39:07Ask.
39:07Let's ask the captain.
39:11Ask me what?
39:12What was your plan B?
39:13I didn't have one.
39:14I was all in.
39:15Nothing was going to stop me from being a cop.
39:18Turned out pretty well.
39:19I agree, Captain.
39:21Whatever.
39:43Hard day?
39:47Yeah.
39:52You didn't tell me your partner got shot along with you.
39:57I might have done some poking around.
40:00Dennis Rowland.
40:01I had a temper, good heart.
40:04We were together two years.
40:06Well, it went through him and me.
40:08I walked away.
40:09He didn't.
40:11I'm sorry.
40:13Thanks.
40:17Now, are you ready for the show you got shot
40:20and didn't listen to me and pushed yourself too hard,
40:23but now you know I'm right, speech?
40:26Sounds like a long one.
40:27No, it is.
40:29Come on.
40:29I'll give it to you over a beer.
40:35How's that plan B coming?
40:37Captain says I don't need one.
40:39But I was thinking it might not be a bad idea
40:44for me to find a hobby.
40:46Something outside of the job I can look forward to.
40:48What about bull dancing?
40:51Okay.
40:52Clearly, I shouldn't have brought you
40:53into the circle of trust.
40:55What?
40:56You know, you were a pretty cavalier earlier
40:59about not making it as a cop.
41:01Is that how you really feel?
41:04I am seeing this thing through no matter what.
41:07No matter what obstacles are thrown in my way.
41:13You know, one out of three rookies
41:16washes out during their first year.
41:19And there's three of us.
41:21Odds are one of us isn't going to make it.
41:25Screw the odds.
41:26If I believed in odds,
41:29I wouldn't even be here.
41:30You know what?
41:31We're all going to make it.
41:33Because we're going to have each other's backs
41:35no matter what.
41:37Deal?
41:38Deal.
41:39Yeah.
41:39Deal.
41:42Okay, I'm going on a night run.
41:43Who's with me?
41:45Me, totally.
41:46Yeah, we're right behind you.
42:01Baby.
42:31Baby
42:42Damn it.
