Watch as a young girl bursts into tears after learning she cannot take her beloved beach discoveries home with her.

Melanie McEwan from Gateshead,UK captured the emotional moment at Ocean Cay in the Bahamas.

The video shows the little girl upset and crying after spending time collecting hermit crabs along the beach.

When it was time to return to the family's cruise ship, she was told the tiny creatures would have to stay behind in their natural habitat.

The news proves too much for the youngster, who breaks down in tears at the thought of leaving her new crab friends behind.

The touching scene was shared online and resonated with viewers.

Melanie said: "My daughter collected hermit crabs on the beach, when it was time to get back on the cruise she had a melt down when I told her she couldn’t take them back to live with her."
