00:00An ICE agent in New Jersey was struck by a van being driven by a fleeing suspect on Monday.
00:05The collision prompted him to open fire on the vehicle, striking it several times.
00:08Now, the incident took place in southern New Jersey, about 60 miles east of Philadelphia.
00:13The Post's senior reporter, Chris Neesey, has been all over the story, and he filled me in on all the
00:17details.
00:18This is another vehicular attack against immigration agents who have faced a 3,300 percent uptick in such attacks since
00:25the start of President Trump's second term in office.
00:27ICE tells me that this particular incident happened while they were conducting a targeted vehicle stop in Manahawken on the
00:35suspect,
00:35whose name has been released as Friedrich Castillo Ormeno, an illegal immigrant from Peru who was released into the U
00:42.S. under the Biden administration.
00:45While officers were trying to stop him, he took off, striking the officer and fleeing the scene.
00:51The officer drew his weapon, fired several times.
00:54One local report saying he may have blown out the van's rear windshield.
00:58The officer was brought to a local hospital for treatment, and the agency did not report on this condition,
01:03but they did say that they would update the public when additional information became available.
01:08One thing that also wasn't immediately clear is what, if any, crime Castillo Ormeno had been accused of,
01:16but that he was given a final order of removal by an immigration judge on January 30th.
01:22ICE and the FBI are currently on scene, and they're actively searching both for the van and the suspect behind
01:27the wheel.
01:27One thing that I see on the scene of the war, is that the police should be used to be
