00:01European leaders have welcomed the framework deal to end war reached between the United States and Iran.
00:07On X, the president of the European Council, António Costa, said that he was looking forward to an end to
00:14this costly war.
00:15I commend the tireless diplomatic efforts of all those who made this deal possible, he added.
00:22The EU's top diplomat is on the same page.
00:25There is the deal that has been announced now by the US and Iran that is much welcomed by everybody.
00:32It is the first phase to open the Strait of Hormuz and then move on to the negotiations on the
00:40critical topics like the nuclear issue,
00:42but also other critical issues that are important for the stability in the region.
00:52For the British Prime Minister, this is an encouraging announcement and an opportunity to be seized.
00:59This is a hugely significant moment. We have long called for de-escalation and it is vital that all parties
01:08seize this opportunity to secure stability in the region and restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
01:17In a joint statement, the UK, together with France, Germany and Italy, have pledged to play their part in ensuring
01:24the free and unrestricted flow of traffic along the Strait of Hormuz.
01:29British Prime Minister Kiel Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni referred
01:37to a strictly defensive and independent mission aimed at reassuring commercial traffic and carrying out mine-clearing operations.
01:51Preparing for modern warfare is the focus of the Eurosatory Defence and Security Show, taking place this week just north
01:58-east of Paris.
01:58At the previous edition in 2024, the idea of sending troops to Ukraine seemed unthinkable.
02:04Today, the likelihood of a clash in the east with Russia is increasingly high, according to General Philippe de Montenon.
02:30The drone is both the main asset and the main challenge of combat in 2026.
02:35Every tank on display at Eurosatory is flanked by its own anti-drone system.
02:41In 2025, the French army had just 4,000 of them and is in the process of buying another 14
02:47,000.
02:48On the battlefields of Ukraine, the drone has become the symbol of modern warfare.
02:53The country is now an expert in their use.
02:56As a result, 80 Ukrainian companies are exhibiting at Eurosatory 2026, compared with 10 at the previous show.
03:06Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has condemned what he called one of Russia's most serious crimes against Christian culture to date,
03:16following Moscow's assault, which damaged the 11th-century Dormition Cathedral within Kyiv-Pakoslavra.
03:23The damage came during a large Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv overnight into Monday that left at least
03:3011 people dead, dozens injured and several residential buildings destroyed.
03:35Russia has denied hitting the historical site.
03:38Visiting a scene with members of his government, Zelensky, hailed the rescue efforts and noted,
03:45the bells of the Lavra again rang out across Kyiv symbolically, despite the damage the church had suffered.
03:53The Kyiv-Pakoslavra, also known as the Monastery of the Caves, is a sprawling complex of monasteries and churches, including
04:02some underground, built between the 11th and 19th centuries.
04:07Some of the churches at the UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site are connected to a labyrinthine complex of caves spanning
04:15more than 600 meters.
04:17The attack prompted swift condemnation across Europe, with the French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barreau describing it as the equivalent
04:25for us French,
04:27quote, of a bombing of the Notre Dame, referring to the iconic Paris Cathedral.
04:37After years of complaints over dangerous riding, pavement clutter and even links to organized crime,
04:43the Belgian capital has announced that rental e-scooters will disappear from its streets by the end of this year.
04:49Experts say that the design of e-scooters means that injuries are more severe,
04:54and riders who crash are more likely to suffer head and facial injuries.
04:58There are also concerns that incorrectly parked scooters can obstruct public rights of way
05:03and cause difficulties for people with reduced mobility or the elderly.
05:07The Brussels government also revealed that the scooters have been used by drug traffickers and organized crime groups,
05:13and that they were used in 25 shootings in 2025.
05:17This region needed order in the matter, so that's what we are doing.
05:21We put order in the order, especially in the public space,
05:24but also in the very numerous accidents that we saw exponentially.
05:31But it is a fact that, in addition to all the rest of the criminalities,
05:37the view of the Prince-Roy is very clear.
05:40The fact that we have to suppress shared bikes is also a plus in the fight
05:47with the shooting acts that we know in Brussels.
05:51While the city is moving away from e-scooters, it will strengthen its bike-sharing network,
05:56and plans to expand the availability of e-bikes on the streets.
06:00Brussels is far from the first city in Europe to outlaw shared e-scooters.
06:04Madrid, Paris, and Prague have already removed them from use.
06:12Monday and early Tuesday's World Cup fixtures brought an interesting mix of satisfaction and upset,
06:17as fans anxiously watched matches, though on paper perceived to be easy,
06:22in fact were more tightly contested than anticipated.
06:25Spain opened their World Cup campaign with a match against Cape Verde,
06:29who were making their first ever appearance at the tournament.
06:32Many fans around the world expected the scoreline to reflect a result similar to a day earlier,
06:38when Germany took on first-timers Curaçao in a match that ended 7-1 in favor of the European powerhouse.
06:45But La Roja, missing young superstar La Minha Malta injury,
06:49was unable to convert their chances, drawing a game that was meant to earn them an easy three points,
06:54nil-nil, a result Cape Verde fans around the world joyfully celebrated.
06:59Belgium fans also watched anxiously as the Red Devils drew 1-1 to Egypt in their first fixture of the
07:05tournament.
07:06The team, which steamrolled past Tunisia last week 5-0 in an international friendly,
07:11was unable to make much happen against the Pharaohs,
07:14who led the game for more than an hour after a stunning strike by forward Imam Ashur in the 20th
07:19minute.
07:20An own goal shortly after the one-hour mark proved to be a moment of relief for the Belgian team,
07:25who walk away with one point in Group G.
07:28Saudi Arabia also took on Uruguay in their first match of the tournament, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
07:34Meanwhile, Iran kick-started their politically charged campaign,
07:38facing off against New Zealand where they had to come back twice to level the score, settling for two goals
07:43apiece.
07:48Professional fishermen and critters are in despair,
07:50pufferfish and invasive species that entered the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal,
07:54continue to devastate marine biodiversity.
07:58The pufferfish problem affects many Mediterranean countries, particularly Cyprus and Greece,
08:03where this poisonous and highly opportunistic predator has become dominant in recent years.
08:09In addition to containing a powerful toxin that makes them deadly if consumed,
08:13these fish have exceptionally strong jaws capable of biting through wood and metal.
08:18In a look, the fish have mixed fish муз from Rha Wertans.
08:21Look at all our inexpensive practice which one is your Electors who is for Maryland and resting place.
08:28The fish come down from the feed for 10 years and the fish blew off both the soil.
08:44The fishing eradtschaft location to bind the fish passed.
08:47calling on the government to immediately implement a subsidy program for the removal of these
08:51fish, allowing fishermen to cut them and reduce their population while limiting the enormous
08:56damage puffer fish are causing to their livelihoods.
09:15Puffer fish were first recorded in Greece in 2005 in Crete and the Dodecanese islands.
09:2120 years later they are now found throughout the country with scientists warning that consuming them can be fatal.
09:30The Dodecanese is a very dangerous toxin, since it gets damaged.
09:36It causes a heart attack and the brain stops.
09:42In general, it needs a lot of attention.
09:44The research is also underway to find ways to neutralize the Dodecanese so that it may eventually become commercially viable
09:50or at least useful for other purposes.
09:53We have proceeded to research to find ways to remove the Dodecanese from the brain
10:01and to make the natural body of the brain and to be able to communicate with some useful materials
10:08for the lisp, compost and such things.
