00:19from an asteroid the osiris rex spacecraft was launched way back in september 2016 saddling up
00:25next to asteroid banu more than two years later for the next two years after that the small probe
00:30flew around the solar system with the asteroid looking for a good spot to land on it and dig in
00:35finally in 2020 it made contact with the asteroid and began collecting samples before lifting off
00:40around seven months later and heading home now three years later those samples are back and now
00:46nasa scientists are especially psyched about the whole thing can't wait to crack into it asteroid
00:51banu is what is considered a near-earth asteroid passing extremely close to our planet every six
00:56years coming within a hair-raisingly close 20 000 miles of our delicate little planet luckily it
01:02isn't the largest near-earth object we know of only being about a third of a mile wide
