00:00A lot of excitement continues to grow as really, like, the media gets to see more and more of what
00:05the commanders are installing, right?
00:07And I think there's a lot of excitement about David Blau's offense.
00:11Last week, and we talked about this, I went out.
00:13The NFL—
00:15You know, I started my day there.
00:16Yeah, what was your schedule this week?
00:18I showed up at 7.30 over at BigBear.ai.
00:23I taped a segment.
00:26I also took some pictures.
00:29A lot of guys were there early, and they staggered in the time because they have to be there.
00:33So, you know, it was interesting this morning.
00:37I bet.
00:37Dude, tomorrow morning, I'm very excited to be a part of this.
00:41The Wizards asked me to do an interview for their draft coverage, and this week is just crazy.
00:48Because, like, normally, if we're at the radio station, getting to Capital One is not a big deal.
00:51It's right down the street.
00:52But because we're all remote this week, I was like, well, I'm not downtown.
00:56And they're like, well, give me some times it could work.
00:57And I was like, well, I'm going to be in Ashburn and this and that.
01:00And I was like, I guess I could do the morning, thinking you and I know the cable sports television
01:05world.
01:05There ain't no mornings.
01:06They're like, great.
01:07See you at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
01:09How long is this thing going to take for you?
01:11I think 10, 15 minutes.
01:13Okay, because I'm about to say you won't be there at 10.
01:16I'll be there.
01:17I also don't think there'll be traffic going that way.
01:19Oh, there's traffic going that way.
01:20Getting out of downtown, probably.
01:21Yeah, getting out of downtown, and then once you get on 66, you know, tell them what happened.
01:26And then you get on 267.
01:28Just, yeah, yeah.
01:30We're going to make it work.
01:31I'll be ready to go.
01:32Don't worry.
01:33Yeah, I'll give you the comments.
01:36There's a lot of excitement growing, and over the weekend, I'm guessing this is time, right?
01:40Because this looks like an ESPN article.
01:44John wrote a good story about the actual scheme that David Blau is installing.
01:49And despite the commander's repeated and best efforts to keep everything a state secret,
01:54like, it's going to get out here, what you're planning on doing.
01:59And so, it's interesting to kind of hear how this is going to go.
02:05I think it's important to point out, shotgun isn't going away.
02:09The pistol formation isn't going away.
02:11But they're going to be significantly reduced.
02:15I'm reading now from John Kimes' article in ESPN.com.
02:18The changes will go beyond going under center more.
02:21The new scheme is about personnel groupings.
02:23Washington used two tight ends on 24% of its snaps under Kingsbury.
02:28That number will be much higher this season, perhaps doubling.
02:30That, the coaches believe, will lead to a more effective play-action game,
02:34getting targets more open.
02:36David Blau said, when we snap the ball, you shouldn't know if we're running it or throwing it.
02:42That is such a basic concept that was completely forgotten over the last two seasons.
02:48Yeah, yeah.
02:49I just, I think, listen, the way that Cliff did it, that was still his belief and thought.
02:56But, but I just think when you have offensive linemen right here, how much power are they going to get
03:03on a damn run play?
03:05Right.
03:05They're going to catch somebody.
03:07I just think when you're down in that three-point stance and you come off that ball, different ball game.
03:11Totally.
03:12I think, I also, I don't think it takes a mathematician to realize Dan Quinn was pretty frustrated by the
03:22end of last season.
03:23And I think that Minnesota game, I think so many things happened in that Minnesota game that,
03:28if you remember when I got back, now granted I came in pretty hot to the studio that morning
03:32because my flight was delayed and I was stuck in Minnesota and blah, blah, blah.
03:35But that's the only time in the Peters-Quinn tenure that was a fireable game.
03:44Like, after that Minnesota game, somebody could have been fired.
03:47And in hindsight, knowing the drastic amount of changes that happened, whatever, a month later,
03:52you almost wonder if some decisions were made following that game.
03:56But I like this from offensive line, the new offensive line coach, Darnell Stapleton, talking about Jaden.
04:02He said, Jaden is a special athlete, so we got to do our part to keep him clean and he'll
04:08make plays.
04:09So, so much of getting a more balanced offense is to help Jaden Daniels.
04:14You know what helped him?
04:15Running game.
04:16Yeah, dude.
04:17And not him running the ball all the time.
04:19Right.
04:19Yeah.
04:20Dude, like, for the people that want to celebrate Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay, and all of their offensive wizardry,
04:28all of those offenses start with the run.
04:30Yeah.
04:31Like, running the football remains the absolute most important part of the game in establishing an offensive flow.
04:40Fans have to understand, they think running the football is boring.
04:45You know what running the football gives you?
04:48Control.
04:48Control.
04:49If you can run the ball, and they have to focus so much on stopping it, you open it up
04:55in the passing game for your people.
04:57Most receivers, if you ask Tanner, if they line up one-on-one on you, did you take that as
05:04disrespect?
05:06When you put one person on the receiver in the NFL, they start smiling.
05:10Because they feel nine times out of ten, I'm beating this dude.
05:14But if you can't run the ball, or you don't choose to run it, and they put two people on
05:20him, different ballgame right now.
05:23So, we got to establish a run, and then everything will work from that.
05:27I don't want to, don't tell me about what the old days was, this, that, and the other.
05:31I just saw a team win the damn Super Bowl, and they ran the snot out of the ball, and
05:34both their quarterback and their receiver had unbelievable years.
05:37Absolutely.
05:38But they ran the hell out of the football in the Super Bowl.
05:41I mean, they dominated.
05:43I saw you win Super Bowls, win a Super Bowl with a team that could run the hell out of
05:47the football.
05:48Good shot.
05:48Do we have a possible barbecue battle nominee?
05:52That's the first, they are putting for birdie.
05:55This is the first time you've seen it.
05:59How many tickets are we giving away, two or four?
06:03All right, well, we're going to sort this out.
06:05Well, we give them away early.
06:06We ain't got to worry about watching the whole thing.
06:08Well, Stallion's going to keep watching.
06:09Oh, that looks like that might be a good one.
06:11I want to open the phone lines up and talk about this rebuilt commander's offense.
06:16800-636-1067.
06:18800-636-1067.
06:21Here's what I find really interesting, B.
06:24I think Kaiman here talks about maybe 40% of the time seeing 12 personnel, two tight ends out there.
06:31I think we're going to see, I think we see more 13, three tight ends on the field.
06:36I think we see more of that than we see the pistol, honestly.
06:39Now, it's not to say the pistol's going away, but I think when you look at what the Rams did
06:44last year when they went to that 13 personnel grouping and still were able to throw the ball out of
06:49that grouping, I think we're going to see a ton of that.
06:5113 personnel with Terry, basically.
06:53Basically, in the back.
06:55And I think Chig gives you that luxury because Chig has a speed enough to have an advantage over who's
07:02going to be checking him.
07:03It makes a difference.
07:05Having a legitimate pass running tight end makes a hell of a difference.
07:09When you're in 13, who's on the field?
07:12I think you put Terry, Chig.
07:15Bates.
07:16Bates.
07:16Senate?
07:18Yes.
07:18Senate?
07:19Whoever steps up.
07:20That's what I'm saying.
07:20Is it Senate?
07:21Is it Yankoff?
07:22I mean, they got to – so, like I'm saying, once the team is developed completely, when they pick them,
07:28then we can make that decision.
07:30But I think Bates is always on because he's shown he can catch the ball, but he also – you
07:36need him on the field just in case you run it.
07:38Because he's a block.
07:40Totally.
07:41He's a blocking fool, man.
07:42I think in 12, it's Chig and Bates.
07:44I think in 13, it's Chig, Bates, and Senate.
07:48But you're right, like that's an opportunity for somebody – I mean, they brought back Cager.
07:53Cager, I don't think people are aware, he looks like OG Ananobi.
07:56Like he's like 6'7", or something.
07:58Like he's a massive dude.
08:00I have been high on Yankoff since rookie minicamp, whatever that was, two years ago.
08:06He made the most unbelievable catch I've ever seen in a rookie minicamp.
08:09And you just – at those type of events, just get your name called, right?
08:13He's now been on the roster.
08:14You want to hear a really funny story about Yankoff?
08:18So it was their rookie season, and I run into Yankoff and Luke McCaffrey at Wegmans,
08:23the one right there by the facility.
08:25And these two dudes, they were buying, like, I mean, just total physical specimens, obviously.
08:33And they were clearly eating keto or whatever.
08:36And they were trying to – they had steak and, like, vegetables.
08:40But none of it had a barcode, and damn if the self-checkout wasn't giving them hell.
08:45They were just having a real –
08:46All you got to do is go to lookup item.
08:48Right.
08:49They were figuring it out.
08:50These were young guys that had moved across the country.
08:53They were figuring it out.
08:54Phone number, 800-636-1067.
08:58800-636-1067.
09:01The commanders are going to be under center with multiple tight ends on the field.
09:05They're going to run more play action.
09:07That is not a surprise.
09:08At times, there will be bootlegs.
09:10At times, I'm guessing Jaden will keep it on the boot.
09:13But the idea here, more play action, more separation for wide receivers.
09:18How much of a game changer is this new offense going to be for Jaden Daniels, Terry McLaurin, Bill?
09:23I'm just convinced, I'm just going to move up to the pool.
09:24I know it's fullstorms that are on the은ers and on means property spend time on the ladder.
