01:01Monday, June 8, in a beach resort in Dipakulaw, Aurora. Baldwin broke his silence on the incident
01:07only on Friday, June 12, apologizing in a video message and saying he failed as a leader and a
01:13friend. He didn't appear before the fact-finding mission of the Criminal Investigation and Detection
01:17Group at Camp Crame on Monday, June 15. Only Ateneo Athletics Director M. Fernandez appeared
01:23before the CIDG, which had summoned Baldwin and other team and school officials to investigate
01:28the drowning incident. Meantime, Ateneo de Manila University President Father Roberto
01:32Yap says the school is sorry for not being quick at informing the public on the developments
01:37which has led to perceptions of inaction. But we understand completely that for loved ones,
01:43the word accident is never easy to accept. Ateneo de Manila is not evading accountability.
01:52After announcing Baldwin's resignation, Yap also says a change in leadership is necessary
01:57to ensure the integrity of the Ateneo sports programs and safety protocols governing them.
02:02We must look inward, examine our systems, and review the structures or athletic programs
02:09so that our fields and playing courts review the places where dreams are nurtured, not broken.
02:16Yap also says an independent fact-finding panel composed of legal and technical experts will
02:22investigate the players' deaths. Baldwin took over the team in 2015 and steered the Blue
02:27Eagles to four UAAP championships. The Ateneo de Davao Senior High School honors its departed
02:34alumnos, René Baterboña, by renaming the court at its bancal campus in Davao City after him.
02:40The school also officially retires his number two jersey. In a statement, the school says,
02:46these are lasting testaments to a young man whose heart and talent left an indelible mark on
02:50everyone who watched him play. School President Father Carel San Juan also announces Baterboña's
02:56six siblings will be provided full scholarships from basic education to college.
03:01The school's life of Bobet to his family is not a big deal. Even if we are so happy, we
03:09don't have it yet.
03:11But we will be able to help Bobet to the future of his life of his family.
03:19Baterboña hailed from Talacogon, Agusan del Sur, and transferred to Ateneo de Davao to play for the Blue
03:24Knights team. He led the Davao region to a historic Secondary Boys Gold Medal in the 2025 Palarong Pambansa
03:31in Ilocos Norte, where he was named Most Valuable Player.
03:36Batangas 2nd District Representative Jinky Luistro says the threshold for convicting Vice President Sara Duterte
03:42in her impeachment trial should be reduced to 14 votes. This if three senators are unable to
03:48participate, citing the Avellino Doctrine.
04:09Luistro also says the current base number of senators is 22, with Senator Bato de la Rosa in hiding and
04:16Senator Jinggoy Estrada detained. Meantime, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. calls on Congress to convene a
04:22special session on June 17. This is to tackle the administration's priority legislation and pending
04:28appointments of several officials and uniformed officers. Marcos calls on Congress to urgently
04:33consider the passage of the following bills.
04:43Marcos says the special session will help ensure continuity and stability across government
04:48institutions. Meantime, Acting Senate President Nguyen Gachalian announces the Senate will convene a
04:54special session at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17.
04:59The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology warns 38 percent of barangays in
05:05General Santos City are at risk of unstable ground. This after the magnitude 7.8 earthquake on Monday,
05:12June 8. The warning comes as scientists identify zones with liquefaction, where water-saturated
05:18ground may lose stability under strong shaking. The agency says at least 10 of the city's 26 barangays
05:24were classified as high-risk zones. These include Buwayan, Baluan, Lagau, Gula, Katanggawan,
05:31Tinggakan, Batomelong, and parts of City Heights, San Isidro, and Conel.
05:36FIVOC Senior Science Research Specialist Kathleen Papionas says these areas should have structural
05:41engineers-assess building foundations and ensure compliance with seismic design standards.
05:46The remaining General Santos barangays are under moderate and low-risk categories.
05:51Meantime, Pope Leo XIV offers prayers for the victims of the earthquake.
05:55I pray for those deceased and their families, and those who are injured, and many who are suffering because of
06:04this disaster.
06:07U.S. and Iranian officials say the two countries had agreed on a framework to end the war,
06:12halt the U.S. blockade of Iran, and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
06:15U.S. President Donald Trump says in a post on Sunday, the deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is
06:21now complete.
06:22This came shortly after Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced that a deal had been struck early on Monday.
06:28Pakistan served as a mediator in negotiations.
06:31The precise terms of the agreement were not immediately known.
06:35In a post, Sharif says it called for
06:52There was no immediate reaction from Israel, which said it was not included in talks between the U.S. and
06:58Iran.
