00:02Tehran goes about its business Saturday, of it hints that a months-long war with the U.S. could reach
00:07some kind of end.
00:09U.S. President Donald Trump, who has long said a deal is close, now says Sunday is the big day.
00:15He says the Strait of Hormuz, critical to global oil and gas supplies, will be totally reopened, and Iran will
00:21not get a nuclear weapon.
00:23Mediator Pakistan doesn't go quite so far, but agrees a virtual signing is likely in the coming hours.
00:30The Iran's Foreign Minister, too, says some form of deal is close, though it will be only the first step
00:35in a longer negotiation.
00:37The point I have to show is that in these negotiations, which began to fight against the war, there are
00:45two steps ahead.
00:46In the first step, there is an agreement between Iran and America.
00:52Then, the negotiations will start for the second step, and then in the second step, we will have a final
00:57agreement.
00:58And even with a chance of peace, there are three complications.
01:02One, this conflict isn't totally frozen.
01:06U.S. Central Command said Friday it downed Iranian attack drones in the Strait of Hormuz.
01:11Two, there are big differences, bound to come up in the second round of talks, obstacles to a really lasting
01:18peace.
01:19Iran's enrichment of uranium and the unfreezing of Iranian assets are two topics likely to cause friction.
01:27And three, there's the question of whether U.S.-Iran talks will really end the wider Middle East war,
01:34because the U.S. and Iran are not the only combatants in this war.
01:37In southern Lebanon, the other big front, explosions filled the air Saturday.
01:43Israel hit the area again, as it continues to fight with Iran's Lebanon-based proxy Hezbollah.
01:49Iran's position is that a peace deal should close this second front, too.
01:55But nearly 4,000 Lebanese have died in the fighting, and a fifth of Lebanon's population has been displaced.
02:01Meanwhile, Israel has lost around 30 soldiers and four civilians.
02:06Can bitter enemies Israel and Hezbollah be brought to the table, too?
02:12As details get hammered out, people in Tehran speculate about what's happening and what's next.
02:17It's possible that the United States has affected it.
02:20But I think it's more about Iran's population.
02:23And what I don't want to do in the war, I think it's important to come back to this situation.
02:27But I say that our friendship is very important.
02:30And we will be able to, inshallah, in this situation, with confidence.
02:33But I don't want to say that Trump's words and the message that the Khawar Mianer
02:44has put on fire, I don't want to say that.
02:51But we are the same words and we are the same words.
02:57Continued vigilance, mistrust.
02:59Views like these mixed with optimism from Trump and others.
03:02As the world waits to see exactly what kind of deal the two sides may reach, and how soon they
03:08may reach it.
