00:00Well, it's about that time when we check in with Rochelle for tonight's weather forecast.
00:05Thank you, Pash. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago. It's Friday. So before all the celebration
00:12begins, here's what's happening with your weather. El Nino has officially begun. So some of you are
00:18probably wondering, Rochelle, what is El Nino? Well, it is a climate pattern marked by warmer
00:25than normal ocean temperatures and atmospheric changes. Forecasts indicate that El Nino is
00:31likely to strengthen through the rest of 2026 with a 63% chance of it becoming a very strong
00:38or super El Nino, making it one of the strongest events on record since 1950. So what does that
00:46mean for Trinidad and Tobago? Well, El Nino can bring warmer than normal temperatures and
00:52drier conditions, increasing the risk of heat waves, water shortages and drought. While
00:57it may help suppress some Atlantic tropical cyclone activity, local weather systems can still
01:03produce periods of heavy rainfall and flooding. Now, speaking of warmer conditions, today we
01:09started off cool with some cloud cover that eventually give way to some heat and sunny skies.
01:16Moving on to what we can expect tonight. Tonight will be generally fair apart from brief
01:21isolated showers with minimum temperatures at 25 degrees in Trinidad and 26 in Tobago. So
01:28it will be a bit warm tonight. And our good, good Saturday will give us mostly hot, sunny and
01:34breezy conditions. We will get party cloudy spells with the possibility of some areas getting brisk
01:39showers. But other than that, perfect conditions to take in the game and watch Brazil share some
01:45licks against Morocco. Tomorrow's daytime temperatures are 32 degrees in Trinidad and 31 in Tobago. Now,
01:54here's how our week will be starting with verbal cloud cover with periods of showers, especially
02:00during the afternoon, favoring Trinidad on Sunday and warmer on Monday with sunny, hazy and breezy skies
02:07with partly cloudy spells and brisk showers likely. It's our sun times now in Trinidad. Sunrises at 543 and 539
02:15in
02:15Tobago and sunset at 628 in Trinidad and 625 in Tobago. Now, tomorrow is Saturday. So if you're headed to
02:23the beach, seas will be moderate with waves 1.5 meters to 2 meters in open waters and near 1
02:29meter,
02:30occasionally choppy in sheltered areas. So be safe out there. It's now time for your Thai Times.
02:44Well, that's all for weather tonight. As always, have a safe, fun and blessed weekend.
02:49Sachin, tell me about the World Cup. Well, Rochelle, I know who you're supporting for sure, but it was an
02:54event for one day of comebacks as South Korea and Canada rally in their World Cup openers.
03:05First blood to the West Indies as Caribbean men beat Sri Lanka in T20 opener.
03:12And a TNT shooting coach wants to develop shooters for Olympic glory. More in sport after this.
