00:00I think people will freak out when they see Juliette Lewis on the videotape at the end of episode three.
00:05What do they know about love, my dear? What do they know about love?
00:12Your character goes through this visceral, emotional, physical reaction to the song.
00:17Can you take me through that scene and what you wanted to portray?
00:20That was the first time that we had to deal with the trauma, the childhood trauma of Max.
00:29And I would say that they were not scared to go as far as we wanted to go with.
00:34And I love that because that's part of his problem.
00:37Like he's been abused and he has suffered a lot of pain, emotionally, psychological pain that now is reflected in
00:52the way he treats others.
00:54And it was important for the audience to feel that in him.
00:58Not to justify him, but to understand him better.
01:01So it was a great moment for me to take a step forward into his mind.
01:07How did that come to be and how did you get her involved?
01:10I was on set with Juliette shooting an episode of The Act in 2019, probably, when we first started talking
01:22about doing Cape Fear.
01:24And it was always my hope that she would be involved in any version of it.
01:31Juliette's an amazing actress.
01:33I remember watching her, you know, on set then.
01:37And God, she's so good.
01:39She's so present and alive and just interesting to watch always.
01:45And, you know, it took a number of years to untangle the rights and the development process.
01:51Then we had a strike and all that.
01:52But once the project got going, I called Juliette.
01:58Yes.
01:58-eda.
