00:00In the heart of Chatham High Street lies a creative treasure trove.
00:03Today I'm visiting the Art Junction in Chatham High Street to find out more about what they do here.
00:08The purpose is to create a community space where people that are creative or want to be creative
00:16or just like crafting us to help with mental health or just to get out of the house.
00:22We do all sorts of things here, workshops, classes. The idea is to just have a community space that people
00:32can come and enjoy.
00:33Art Junction have created a vital space of community where people are able to meet and connect.
00:39They have been able to forge friendships that blossom into artistic collaborations.
00:44Collaborations that potentially wouldn't have happened otherwise.
00:47I came in and I didn't really have much to say for myself but everyone was really welcoming and lovely
00:53and I feel like I found a really nice community to be a part of.
00:57For me it's been great to give me another reason to kind of get out of bed in the morning
01:02really
01:02because I love doing community work.
01:04It's good to see those things happening in here because you see that the space is working for its intended
01:10purpose.
01:11It's not just about building community though.
01:13It's now evolved into a central connection hub for Spectrum Arts, a creative network consisting of 50 plus local artists.
01:22It's also a place that allows for a selection of those artists to showcase and sell their artworks.
01:27It's really nice to have that base where we can come and not only continue the art shop that we
01:32started
01:32but also where I can actually run workshops as well because I do kids' workshops and I do adult
01:38doing things like D&D and manga art and all that stuff.
01:41So it's been giving us a bit of a base to focus in.
01:47Seeing it grow gives us hope that we will be here for the foreseeable future.
01:54From affordable arts and crafts to classes and workshops to supporting local artists,
02:00Art Junction is a place that welcomes everyone to come and discover their own community.
