00:12Wait, wait, just make sure we're rolling.
00:38Well, I think we want to understand whether the public statements that Mr. Gates has made
00:44about his relationship with Epstein are fully truthful and accurate.
00:49Obviously, the files contain some interesting and troubling emails, Epstein's clear attempt
00:59to leverage or perhaps even blackmail Gates over his relationship with one of the Russian
01:06women and Epstein, you know, providing payments to that woman and the email from Epstein to
01:12Gates asking for reimbursement of those payments.
01:16We don't know whether or how Gates responded to that.
01:19I think that's important.
01:22The relationship between Epstein, Gates and Ms. Walker, who says she was introduced to
01:28Epstein by Donald Trump, want to learn more about all of that.
01:33So a lot of important questions today.
01:53I agree with the chairman, Ms. Groff, especially hard to believe 18 years as Epstein's assistant
02:01had no knowledge of the crimes that were being committed, the crimes that she scheduled,
02:05quite frankly.
02:06Hard to believe that.
02:08It's one of the reasons why I and other Democrats have been pushing the Department of Justice
02:12to reopen these investigations.
02:15You mentioned Les Wexner, never even questioned by the FBI.
02:19Khan and Indyke, never questioned by the FBI.
02:23Basic investigative work that was never done across multiple administrations.
02:27But right now, the Trump administration and Todd Blanche or the Department of Justice
02:31have the opportunity to reopen this investigation, ask these questions, determine whether there
02:36are new prosecutions that need to be pursued.
02:39And that's what we want to see.
02:51I heard that five minutes ago.
02:54If that's true, I'm very glad to hear that.
02:56Yesterday, Chairman Comer was saying he didn't think Todd Blanche needed to come in.
03:01I'm glad he's changed his mind if that's the case.
03:03I'm certainly going to be pushing for that to be in public, at least videotaped so the
03:09American people can see, especially if Todd Blanche is potentially going to be the permanent
03:14attorney general.
03:15It shouldn't be behind closed doors like this.
03:17It should be out for the media and the public to see.
03:20He also said that Epstein's former attorney, Alan Dershowitz, he was asked to come in.
03:25What questions do you have with him?
03:27Is there anything in these transcripts of the plan, and maybe for the committee to feel
03:30that his former attorney is the one that wants to come?
03:34I think, look, obviously, given that he was Epstein's attorney, had a close relationship
03:39he could have additional information that we haven't yet revealed over the course of
03:43our investigation.
03:44So I think that's an appropriate conversation to have, no question.
03:48And apologies, Representative.
03:49I missed.
03:50What are you planning to ask Mr. Gates today?
03:52What's more appropriate to you?
03:53I want to find out whether his public statements about the limits of his relationship with Jeffrey
03:59Epstein are fully truthful and accurate.
04:02I'm interested in the email exchange where it's clear that Jeffrey Epstein was using one
04:10of the Russian women that Gates was involved in to try to get leverage or potentially blackmail
04:16him.
04:17Epstein emailed Gates asking for reimbursement for money that Epstein provided to this woman.
04:23We don't have any response from Gates in the files.
04:28I'd like to know whether or how he responded to that and what he felt Epstein was trying
04:33to do in that moment.
04:35Thank you all.
