00:00I have here, oh my god, Jasmine, did you, for you both, did you spend Mike Bloomberg's money on
00:08Nick's shirts? So I have a t-shirt for you, Max. Nice. And I have one for you, Stacey. Now,
00:14the
00:14world of sports is on fire right now. The NBA Finals, as we mentioned, in full swing. Sports
00:20networks are making huge amounts of money. Vendors are making money. It's a sight to see. We sent
00:24producers Jasmine JT Green and Miles J. Herzenhorn to a local sports bar in Midtown Manhattan,
00:29right around the corner from Madison Square Garden, where the game was taking place,
00:32to get a pulse of the Game 3 action. How much money do you think you've spent so far on
00:37merchandise during this playoff run? Anywhere from $300 to $400. $3,000. $3,000? What did you spend the
00:43most on? Jerseys, going to the bars, all the drinks, food. What do you think about the price of tickets
00:49for the actual game? It's kind of insane. It's kind of unfair, too, to the fans who've been watching
00:53forever. The diehard fans can't afford to go to that. What is the sort of business around the NBA
00:58Finals this year? So, I can tell you, I've been to three of the four games, and the energy around
01:03this year's Finals is tenfold higher than it was last year. The celebrities are absolutely losing
01:08their mind. Taylor Swift was at the bottom of the concourse, jumping with fans. Same with Ben Stiller.
01:13Same with Timothee Chalamet. They're all having the time of their lives, and it has nothing to do
01:17really with the teams themselves. It's just the aura around the game. And the Knicks haven't been back
01:23to the Finals since 1999. And that history matters. It matters a lot in terms of storytelling.
01:28Let's talk a little bit about the money here. So, like, ticket prices...
01:32This is an interesting topic.
01:34They're high, but they're very dynamic all the time. So, talk about that a little bit.
01:38When the Knicks won Game 2, the prices just skyrocketed. And so, yes, absolutely. Are
01:44regular, degular Knicks fans priced out of this? Yes, they are. Is it fair? I would argue
01:51potentially. Because sports are a luxury experience now. The best thing that a Knicks fan that makes
01:57an average salary of whatever he wanted to find an average salary is to go watch them in Philly.
02:02You're not going to be able to get in or go watch them potentially in Barclays. You're not going to
02:07be able to just pay for a Knicks ticket because these prices are outrageous. And it isn't just NBA
02:13related. It's all sports.
