00:00Dodgers yesterday, a couple of injuries, one that's potentially serious.
00:04The other one, we're not so sure, but let's touch on the first.
00:07And this is Will Smith heading to the injured list.
00:11Of course, the Dodgers could afford to have anybody hurt because they just plug and play guys like nobody's business
00:16on every team.
00:17And so in this case, I'm assuming Dalton Rushing is the catcher until Will Smith comes back, Joe.
00:22But Smith is arguably one of baseball's best catchers, but it's a minimum IL stint, it looks like.
00:30So June 23rd could have him back.
00:34Yes, they'll have to weather the storm here, right?
00:38I mean, we learned of Otani taking a seat there yesterday, halfway through the game.
00:43Now Will Smith.
00:44But like you said, it's the other thing this Dodgers team has is plenty enough depth to be able to
00:50withstand these kinds of stretches in the season here.
00:54They're already, what, 46 and 25.
00:57I think they'll be just fine.
00:59And you got to love it because all these reinforcements will be back in another month or so.
01:06So as the season moves on, the Dodgers will actually get healthier.
01:09They have more than enough to be able to weather this.
01:13Meanwhile, as we mentioned, Otani left the game yesterday with a knee issue.
01:18It looks like he'll be able to be back in the lineup.
01:20So that's good news if Dave Roberts is saying that.
01:23Let's hear from him after the game last night.
01:25Oh, hey, we saw that he left the game with knee inflammation.
01:29How is he feeling?
01:30And just what is your level of concern with that?
01:33Not high.
01:34I think that we tried to be smart about it and, you know, talk to the trainer and said he
01:39had a little behind the knee.
01:41And behind the knee, a little hamstring.
01:43So I just wanted to be smart and not push it.
01:47So I feel good about him being in there tomorrow.
01:50But obviously, with the travel tonight, we'll just kind of see how he comes in.
01:55So we'll see if Otani's in the lineup.
01:56If you're interested in betting in that market on the Dodgers, make sure you check your lineups in a few
02:02hours from now.
02:03Finally, how about this story here in San Diego?
02:07Manny Machado, who is maybe a future Hall of Famer, Joe, I think most people would agree, may not be
02:14if this is the end for his career.
02:16I mean, because what's funny about guys at the end of their careers, Joe, is that even if they don't
02:20hit great, they just have those counting stats.
02:22You know, they play out their careers.
02:23They hit a few bombs.
02:24They add to their numbers.
02:25But there's no adding to your numbers when you're hitting 172 on the season.
02:30Machado has been working with Aaron Judge's hitting coach, and it didn't work.
02:36And so there's no excuses.
02:38And basically said that the hitting coach work is not the reason for his struggles.
02:43It's just him.
02:46Well, it's, you know, he's at that point in his career, right, where he realizes it looks, it might as
02:52well be throwing a golf ball at him right now.
02:55Because it just, he's not seeing it well at all.
03:00And you know what happens, Craig, with guys like this.
03:02It starts to be above the shoulders.
03:05Not that he doesn't have the ability, but all of a sudden, man, it's just as the season rolls on,
03:11and now he's going up there thinking he can't hit.
03:14It doesn't get good.
03:16But you know what?
03:17Hitting is contagious.
03:18And I couldn't figure out what was going on with Tatis either.
03:21There's no reason for him to have been as bad as he's been.
03:24And so hopefully if one guy turns it around, maybe that'll spark here and get Machado going in the right
03:30direction.
03:31And Juan Soto thinks that fans can get motivated by the Knicks.
03:37Check this out.
03:38I know you were at the Knicks game the other night.
03:40When you see, you know, how the city has rallied around a team like that, how much, if any, added
03:45motivation does that give you guys to get to that spot?
03:48I mean, when you see the fans and how they get crazy like that, you know, it's always motivated you
03:53to be at the top.
03:55Definitely.
03:55Like you said, it's impressive.
04:00It's motivating.
04:00You know, I would love to all my teammates to get to see how I was imagine Madison Square Garden
04:07on those finals games.
04:09And it was really cool to see and how the fans, how they react.
04:13Yeah, I'm not going to be critical at all of that comment from Soto, regardless of what he said, Joe,
04:18because he's only answering a question that was asked of him, right?
04:22Like that never comes up if that question isn't asked.
04:25So I'm not concerned that, you know, listen, if the Mets can take motivation from anything this season, they got
04:32to take it.
04:33And so if the Knicks winning does it, good for them.
04:36We'll be back with more of the early line right now.
04:38We'll be back with more on yet.
04:39And we just wait until they win wins.
04:41That's truth, please.
