00:00I mean, President Trump, this is my last question, he needs two issues to be tackled ASAP.
00:05The Strait of Hormuz has to reopen, and he cannot allow, he says, Iran to develop a nuclear weapon.
00:12I mean, if he achieves those two things, I mean, can he achieve those two things in the near term?
00:18And an extension of that question is, does that mean that other issues like the ballistic missile program,
00:23the proxies, those issues are basically kicked into the long grass and probably can't be tackled?
00:31No, no, and yes. No, I don't think either can be done very quickly.
00:37It's a real headache, the nuclear issue.
00:41But above all, as the IEA keeps pointing out, it's a question of monitoring and checking.
00:47The thing about the Strait of Hormuz, the strategic waterway, it is looking much more intractable than ever could have
00:54been imagined.
00:55It's very clever. It's the now you see me, now you don't approach.
00:59We're now going to do mines. We're now going to do attack boats. We're going to do aerial drones.
01:03No, we're not going to do anything at all. And then we're going to attack something.
01:06The way the IRGC is operating, it's blackmail on the Strait of Hormuz is extremely complex.
01:13And I think it's only susceptible to a comprehensive treaty and peace agreement that ain't coming soon.
01:23And the problem with Iran, it's an even bigger menace, because as we know now that it's learned from the
01:29playbook of the Russians,
01:30it's very good at running cyber warfare, of running information warfare, sponsoring, for example, a lot of the anti-Semitic
01:40propaganda coming into Britain,
01:43fueling, it's thought by the security authorities here, up to 40 of the attacks, the anti-Semitic attacks over the
01:52past year.
01:53It's a formidable foe. A foe it is, though, and it looks to persist.
02:01And dealing with it can't be left to America now, because of the degree of incompetence shown by America.
02:09Not lack of capability. Of course, military capability is terrific, but incompetence.
02:13And it's something that Europe and the European allies will have to address along with China.
