00:00At the end of all of this, President Trump needs to have an agreement that's better
00:04than the nuclear deal that he tore up, the deal that was struck in 2015 when President Obama was
00:10in office. Is that going to be achievable, or do you think there's a risk here that he ends up
00:14with
00:14something rushed, because we've discussed how America needs this war to end sooner than any
00:19of the other parties do, and perhaps ends up with a deal that's less good than what was in place
00:24a decade ago? That's a very good question, Tom, and that's one of the concerns that Israel has.
00:29That's one of the concerns that people on both sides of the aisle in the United States are
00:33Democrats and Republicans that are hawkish on Iran. They know that ultimately, we decided to pull out
00:41of the JCPOA in 2018. That wasn't a perfect agreement, but most people at the time, I think,
00:47and that's my characterization, were saying, why not improve it rather than just blow it up? Because
00:53when you blow it up, they're going to go after a nuclear weapon. And we saw the indications that
00:58they did. They now have 1,000 pounds of 60% enriched uranium, far above the 3.67 that was
01:05listed in the JCPOA. So President Trump, I think, for strategic reasons and political reasons,
01:12needs to get into a new nuclear agreement that's more restrictive than that, or there's going to be
01:16a lot of questions, not only current questions, but historical questions of why we decided to get out
01:22of agreement we essentially went back to after wars and them coming close to a nuclear weapon
01:28and proxy operations, by the way, increasing tenfold after we left. I mean, Hamas attacked
01:34Israel after we left. Hezbollah attacked Israel after we left. So there's going to be a lot of
01:39questions if we don't get back to an agreement that's more restrictive. And the other criticism of
01:45the original one was it didn't address ballistic missiles, the restrictions on ballistic missiles
01:49and proxy operations. We're not even talking about that right now. So there's going to be a lot of
01:53questions on how we're going to get back to an agreement that was more in line with the reasons
01:58why we got out of the first one. But that's going to be very difficult. And right now, Iran's not
02:03even
02:03interested in talking about ending the conflict, in my estimation, in means that are acceptable to the
02:09United States.
