Watch this dramatic clip where a suspect tries to evade police by diving into a lake in New York's Central Park, sparking a large emergency response.

Najee Robinson from New York recorded the moment a man entered the Harlem Meer after allegedly fleeing from NYPD officers who were attempting to arrest him in connection with a petty larceny investigation.

Footage shows police gathering along the shoreline while an NYPD helicopter hovers overhead as the suspect attempts to swim across the 11-acre lake.

Emergency responders and NYPD divers eventually entered the water and brought the man back to shore, where he was taken into custody.

According to reports, the 23-year-old suspect fled into Central Park after officers moved to arrest him over an alleged theft incident in Harlem. He reportedly remained in the water for around 20 minutes before being apprehended.
