04:58Oh no what happened?
05:00Oh it was carried off by the wind
05:02Oh it was carried off by the wind
05:02I'll probably never see it again
05:03Oh you never know
05:06I'm sure a policeman like you will be able to track it down in no time
05:11You're right Miss Wooley
05:12I'll get to work on the case of the missing hat right away
05:15Maybe you should start by going to see Edie
05:17Good idea
05:18Oh she might have seen it as she'd been driving around the island
05:22And if I hurry I might catch her on her tea break
05:24Oh talking of which
05:26Lovely cup of tea
05:27Thank you
05:29Goodbye and good luck
05:33So which coloured house do you think PC Plum will visit first today?
05:42Can you see all the different coloured houses sitting by the sea?
05:47Well there's part of the story in Ballamory asks which is the house for me?
05:53Is it yellow? Is it red? Or should we go to the green house instead?
05:59Red? White? Orange? Blue? Or pink?
06:02Or which coloured house do you think?
06:10Which coloured house are we going to?
06:13Tell me what do you think?
06:16Which coloured house are we going to?
06:19Tell me what do you think?
06:22It's the Blue House!
06:25Yes, it's the Blue House
06:27Because that's where Edie McCready lives
06:32Oh yes
06:33Mmm
06:35Hey ho Edie
06:37Oh hello there Plummy
06:39Now listen Plum I'm sorry I can't give you our lift home today
06:42Because I'm spring cleaning this
06:44Oh no no that's alright
06:45I'm looking for my hat you see I've lost it
06:48Oh well if it's lost hats you're looking for you've come to the right place
06:52I have?
06:53Oh yes
06:54People are always getting off my bus and leaving hats, brollies, scarves, sometimes even their shopping behind
07:01Well I suppose my hat could have blown onto your bus
07:04Oh well now wait a minute there are lots of hats in my lost and found box
07:09Here we are take your pick
07:11Maybe your hat is in amongst this lot
07:13Oh wouldn't it be wonderful if it were?
07:15Well here's a green one
07:17Oh
07:19Oh yeah
07:20But this is a farmer's hat
07:22It's not mine
07:23My hat's black and white like a zebra
07:25Oh right
07:26Well maybe this one is yours
07:29This is black and white
07:33Yes but my hat doesn't have white flowers round it
07:38Okay well how about this one?
07:44I don't think so we do do you?
07:46Well that's a pity because it's the last hat in the box
07:50Oh dear
07:52It looks like we're going to have to start looking somewhere else
07:55But where do I start?
07:58Well if we could figure out which way the wind is blowing
08:03We could work out where your hat has blown to
08:07Hmm
08:08Oh we could make a weather vane
08:09That would tell us which way the wind was blowing
08:11Oh good idea plummy
08:13Now what do we need to make a weather vane?
08:14Well we need a stick
08:16We need sticky tape
08:17Oh and finally cardboard
08:19Now we cut the cardboard
08:25We went there
08:27Right
08:28Oh now
08:29Yes
08:30I think I can work out what shape you're making
08:34It's an arrow shape
08:36I need you to hold the stick for me
08:40Let me see
08:42Oh
08:42Look at that
08:44Oh fantastic
08:46Now let's see if it works
08:47Let me try this
08:48Oh
08:49Right
08:50There
08:51There we go
08:52And
08:56Oh
08:56Good one
08:58Yes
08:58Yes
08:59Oh it's working
09:01Oh
09:01I think we should take this outside and see how well it works
09:04Oh
09:04We can test it in the wind out there
09:06Oh
09:07Good idea plummy
09:07Come on let's go
09:08Oh yes
09:13Right
09:13We'll pop this here and see which way the wind is blowing
09:16Oh
09:17So which way is the wind blowing?
09:19The way the arrows pointing
09:21And is that where your hat is plummy?
09:23Yes
09:23Somewhere over there
09:25Oh
09:26It could be miles away by now
09:28I know
09:28Or stuck up a tree or perched on a chimney pot
09:33Oh dear
09:33What am I going to do Edie?
09:35Hmm
09:37Which house is the arrow pointing to?
09:42The orange house
09:43And who lives there?
09:45Spencer
09:46He might be able to help me find my hat
09:48And with his ladders
09:49Just the person to fetch it down from a chimney pot or a tree
09:53Thank you Edie
09:54I'll call on Spencer
10:00I'm Spencer, that's my name

10:34Climbing up a musical ladder

11:15Pretty-ass picture, come on, take a ride
11:17It's so much fun, make your little eyes go pop!
11:26Hello Spencer!
11:27Hey Plummy!
11:28It's your home!
11:29Where else would I be?
11:30Well, I thought you might be out flying a kite on a windy day like today
11:33Oh, it's certainly a good day for it
11:35So tell me, what's the story in Bala Mori?
11:40Well...
11:43On my way to the nursery this morning, my hat was blown away by the wind
11:52I went to see Edie McCready to see if she had spied my hat on her travels
11:56She had some hats, but none of them were mine
12:01Then we made a weather vane so that we could tell which way the wind was blowing
12:06So we tried out the weather vane
12:07And it was pointing to the orange house
12:13Your house?
12:15My house?
12:16Yep!
12:17You haven't seen a hat blow past your window, have you?
12:19Oh sorry, I'm just in
12:21I've been out painting
12:22Would you like to see?
12:24I painted a picture of a cat on the windowsill at Pocket and Suite
12:29I painted Archie's Pink Castle
12:33And look!
12:34I painted this cow munching grass in a field
12:37Oh yes, that's all very good, but um...
12:39You want to see the best thing I painted today?
12:41Oh well, I'm in a bit of a rush, you see
12:42I've lost my hat and I have to go and find it
12:47That looks like my hat
12:49The black and white hat?
12:50Yes
12:51Oh, I found it!
12:53Great!
12:53Oh, but um...
12:55That's a very odd looking tree
12:56Sure is
12:57It's a hat tree
12:58The first one I've ever seen
13:01Great!
13:02Well, you go and get your ladders
13:03And we can go and get ourselves some hats
13:06Sorry, my ladder is way too small
13:09And this tree is way too tall
13:10But I do know someone who can help you
13:12Who?
13:13The firefighters
13:14Yes, but my hat's not on fire, Spencer
13:18No, but they've got a really long ladder
13:20And they may be out practicing today
13:22And maybe they can help
13:23Great idea!
13:24I'll ask you for a lift
13:48Oh!
13:49Oh, Plummy!
13:50Oh, I just love visiting the fire station!
13:52Me too!
13:55Hello!
13:56Hello!
13:56Now, I just thought that as you were out on practice today
13:59You might like to practice rescuing some hats
14:01Yeah, that'll be no problem PC Plummy
14:03It'll give us a chance to practice our ladder drill
14:05Great!
14:05And perhaps you might like to practice flashing your lights too
14:09Shall we get them going for you, Edie?
14:11Come on, jump in
14:11Oh, great!
14:12Go on, wait!
14:13Would you like to practice wahrнь a little?
14:31Can I just go see
14:33A galאת that way perspect Wildebeh
14:34What can I do?
14:37Then I do admit that when we're out on the house
14:38You saw what it seem to do
14:39I have a great idea
14:41Oh, if I could whistle
14:55It's high, isn't it?
14:57Oh yes, much too high for Spencer's wee stepladders.
15:40Yours, I believe?
15:41Thank you, Edie.
15:43Oh, don't thank me.
15:45Thanks, Spencer.
15:46He saved the day today.
15:47Yes, he did.
15:48And if you hadn't shown me that painting, I'd never have known about this hat tree.
15:57What are you going to do with all the other hats?
16:00Find out who they belong to and return them, I suppose.
16:02Oh, starting with this one.
16:06Oh.
16:09Would you believe it?
16:11It's your hat.
16:14Oh, plummy.
16:24So, what was the story in Balamori today?
16:30Well...
16:33When PC Plum arrived at the nursery this morning, the wind blew his hat off and carried it away.
16:41I was sure that he could track it down because he's such a good policeman.
16:47So first he called on Edie.
16:49She had some hats.
16:51But she didn't have PC Plum's hat.
16:55So Edie and PC Plum made a weather vane to find out which way the wind was blowing.
17:01The arrow pointed towards Spencer's house.
17:05So that's where PC Plum went next.
17:08It was here that PC Plum saw one of his hats in Spencer's paintings.
17:14So Edie and PC Plum went to see the firefighters at the fire station.
17:20They all got into the fire engine and went to see the hat tree.
17:27The fireman got all the hats down and PC Plum got his hat back safe and sound.
17:36Now PC Plum is very happy that the wind is gone.
17:44And so am I.
17:50So, that was the story in Balamori.
17:57See you next time.
17:59Bye!
18:07Bye!
18:34Bye!
18:36Bye!
