00:00The Knicks are on the legendary run, so I'm hanging outside of the legendary Apollo Theater
00:05to talk to the legend, Earl the Pearl Monroe, about the vibes around Knicks Nation
00:10and, of course, his partnership with Fanatics.
00:13I'm here with the legend, Earl the Pearl Monroe.
00:17Appreciate you taking the time to talk with us while we're at this Fanatics event.
00:21You see all the love lined up here on the sidewalk to come talk to you
00:26and get some great Fanatics gear.
00:27What does it feel like for you re-experiencing this entire buzz throughout the course of New York City?
00:35Well, it's a beautiful thing, first of all, that the city is so abuzz with this here.
00:43This is something that's really special, and you don't realize what it's all about
00:51until you come into the city and you feel the people, you feel the vibe in the streets
00:57and whatnot, and just walking down the street is a great thing because, you know, this is Knicktown.
01:04I've talked about other teams that were here, the Yankees, the Mets, the Giants, and so forth,
01:12but I always say that whatever the case may be, New York is Knicktown,
01:17and when Knicks are doing it, then everybody is happy.
01:22There's an infectious energy around the city and also inside the garden as well,
01:28so you've been inside the garden.
01:30Is it comparable to like it was back in 1973?
01:34Well, you know, it's not as many people, no, but I think, you know, it's like fantastic, you know, right
01:45now,
01:45and the energy that is given off not only by the people here and around,
01:53but even by the team in terms of what it is all about, and we all feel it.
01:58I mean, it's been a long, long time since we've had this type of thing that goes on,
02:06and we tried in 99, but we didn't make it, but I think this time, you know, we're looking good.
02:13People feel it.
02:14People are ready for it.
02:16You got this great event that you're teaming up with, this fan wagon for Fanatics.
02:20Again, this is representing hope for this city,
02:23so what will it mean to you personally and to this city if they're able to do what hasn't been
02:29done in 53 years,
02:31and that's bringing home a championship?
02:33Well, you know, when you say 53 years, that's a long time.
02:36I don't know if I like to talk about 53 years, but, hey, you know, we're doing it now.
02:44The guys are ready.
02:45The city is ready.
02:46You know, even other cities are ready for this to happen,
02:50and we're going to sit up and see them working out.
02:54Now, we're going to love what's going on because I think everybody wants the Knicks to win this championship.
03:00Absolutely.
03:01Well, we thank you for your time.
03:02We're talking to us at The Post,
03:03and we thank you for everything you did not only as a player and as a legend in this city.
