00:09My name is Doug Burns aka Doug Lust and I do musical recaps of every single
00:16Knicks game. My job is to amplify this moment for Knicks fans and make it all
00:20about what we want the most, which is success for our basketball team.
00:25Towns drives inside and swears at home. Well I started this journey because I saw a
00:31community online who was as obsessive about the Knicks as I was. My friends and
00:36family, most of them, not all of them, couldn't handle the constant 24-hour, seven
00:42days a week discussion of the Knicks. I have actually never met anyone more
00:47obsessed with a sports team in my life than Doug. Over the top, in the best way,
00:52aggressive, fun, head-banging. When the Knicks got Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikael
00:58Bridges, to my eyes they were ready to contend and I said I need to make musical
01:03sports content that shows how I feel about this team and brings people joy.
01:08They never met. The Knicks will stay for me neither!
01:14Hey, the Knicks will stay for me. We need to make musicals fire with the Knicks in the
01:20The Knicks is a makes 적 of even more!
01:24We are not the only one!
01:25This is because we don't know the money that we are ready to get to
01:26its head in. I am the only one!
01:27I am the most expensive of our own. We are not the only one!
01:28you! It's not the worst to be considered. We are never the best to be considered!
01:29of our league! We are never the only one!
01:43I think that was about as well as he takes the loss, but obviously he was upset, and
01:48you know, I think in those moments, the initial feeling is like, I don't want to do this shit,
01:53I don't want to make this recap, but I think that moment passes a second, it's like, okay,
01:58you know what, we got to do this. As soon as we started walking, we started having fun, talking,
02:03Doug, his lyric brain starts going, and it's really amazing, just to witness. He just starts
02:10spewing out these lyrics about stuff that happened in the game.
02:18And connecting him to the song, in other words, the parody we're doing, and finding these little
02:22things where it makes him laugh, or it makes both of us laugh, or whatever, and yeah, it's just this
02:27beautiful, creative flow he goes on.
02:36Well, as you saw today here, we are at B&H Dairy on 2nd Avenue. We got old Jewish men
02:44and the great
02:44musician Robert Randolph, who wrote the Friday Night Knicks song, to be in our video today,
02:51because this is the final. To me, every finals moment, every game is the biggest game in Knicks
02:56history, and my work has to reflect that, and I think I've successfully done that throughout
03:06these playoffs.
03:23Yes! Fucking yes! Oh my god!
03:28Thank you so much.
03:29Thank you so much!
03:29Don't touch it!
03:31Ah!
03:32Ah!
03:33Oh my god!
03:38Oh my god!
03:41Oooh!
03:43No!
03:44Yoooo!
03:48Yeah!
04:08I don't feel like a champion yet because this video is not finished, but when it's
04:12finished, I'm going to feel as tall as the Empire State Building.
04:18I mean, this is the truest of truest Dougs you're ever going to see, and I'm beyond proud.
04:28He's the best bass player I've ever played with, and he will watch the Knicks every game.
04:34He is the most committed to both of those things that I've ever seen.
04:38And I'm grateful that any musician, any human, is lucky to meet somebody like that.
04:49All the cool people that I've met that have the same love for the Knicks that I do, all
04:54the musicians from my professional life outside of this that have come in and contributed,
05:00my friends Jake and Miles, who have given so much of their time to the whole community in
05:05my life that's grown up around this, all these amazing people that I've met through
05:09doing this, is the most significant part of doing it for me, and that's what I'll look
05:15back on.
05:19I know Doug as this incredible musician, incredible artist, and ultimately I think Doug should be
05:25making records that he really loves of his own music, whether it's funny stuff or not.
05:37Everything that Doug could possibly want to be happening is happening right now.
05:40It's just like, who's going to pay him?
05:43What's that?
