Keke Palmer on working with Jordan Peele on ‘Nope’: "It was life-changing. He was so embracing to me. He really saw me. When I think about the nuances of that character, and how many conversations we had where he was encouraging me to follow what I knew...It was the first time that I really understood how much autonomy I had."

00:00It was really great. It was really great. It was life-changing as well, that experience working
00:04with him. He was so embracing to me. He really saw me. And when I think about the role,
00:12the nuances of that character, how many conversations that we had where he wasn't
00:18leading me, but he was looking at the full picture and he was encouraging me to follow what I knew.
00:26It was, I think, the first time that I really understood how much autonomy I had as an actor.
00:32And that as an actor, it's a really big part of my job, just as much as it is of
00:37the directors,
00:38to tell him who the character is. And I think the way that he worked with me really,
00:44really changed the way that I moved as an actor because he let me know that that was important.
00:49And then I seen how it was, how it changed and enhanced the project, you know?
00:55when I really knew that I had a voice that was worth being heard. And so when I look at
01:00that
01:00scenario and then I think about the work that I've also done after that film, it's very much a
01:05good point.
