00:04Let's see if we can find the one that got away.
00:08Redhead.
00:09Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're taking a look at 10 awesome things to know
00:14about Marvel's Wolverine. Before we begin, we publish new content all week long,
00:19so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:25An emotionally charged storyline. Now, it's no surprise that players are going to step into
00:31the iconic role of James Logan Howlett, aka Wolverine. The story here is set to be full of
00:37emotion, nuance, and brutality. The mutants in this world are despised pariahs that feel
00:42forced to stay in the shadows, much to the chagrin of Team X.
00:51It's up to Wolverine and his powerful allies to stop the nefarious threats of the Reavers,
00:56a guns-for-hire cybernetic militia, and Trask Industries, who hope to thwart the mutants for
01:01good. Speaking of allies, Jean Grey enters the fray. Wolverine won't be fighting alone,
01:07despite his lone wolf nature. Players are joined by the powerfully telekinetic Jean Grey,
01:12who is aiding the mutants in their plight. Not only does Jean seem to play a central role
01:17here in the intense storyline, she also seems to be a major part of many gameplay scenarios,
01:23although details seem to be somewhat scant about that right now.
01:26From what we've seen from the extended gameplay trailer, Jean will aid Wolverine in a team-up of
01:37sorts, where she can quell the Reavers with her own powers, or by performing intense duo-tag-team
01:44attacks that could change the tides of battle in the form of critical strikes.
01:54Not an open-world game. Marvel's Wolverine is going in the direction of a pure, straightforward,
02:00linear, single-player adventure, eschewing the open world that we saw in the Marvel's Spider-Man games.
02:06Insomniac Games looks to focus the adventure to allow for incredible scripted set pieces,
02:11brutal and deeply engaging combat scenarios, a robust ability, technique, and moveset,
02:16and missions-slash-quests that reflect the storyline's major presence here in the game.
02:22It's clear, from what we've seen so far, and read so far, that Insomniac wants Wolverine to be
02:27able to have a globetrotting adventure where he isn't tied down to one locale. Intense and visceral combat.
02:41There's simply no denying just how brutal this game is in action. Gameplay trailers have made it
02:46clear that Insomniac isn't holding back on violent, visceral action and loads of bloodshed.
02:52This third-person action-adventure title is putting Wolverine's claws front and center,
02:56with loads of variety in attacks, traversal, combos, and over-the-top techniques and powers,
03:02things such as tornado spin and bullrush. He's a living weapon that doesn't hold back after all.
03:07Plus, he can even enter a three-tiered rage mode that gives him even more damage output for extra
03:13carnage. Whether clawing Reavers in the face or pouncing on them from afar to deal incredible damage,
03:24Wolverine is ready to get up close and personal with his harrowing capabilities.
03:28But he does have some sneaky tricks up his sleeve.
03:38Stealth is a viable option. Interestingly, stealth was shown off quite a bit in the extended gameplay
03:43trailer, something that may be a bit surprising given Wolverine's penchant to claw, smash, and gut
03:49baddies with ease. Wolverine can take a slower, more methodical approach to combat scenarios,
03:54stalking from the shadows, using his animal senses to track foe's nervous systems, stabbing Reavers
04:00from behind cover, and heck, even lunging from high above to lay the coup de grace for unsuspecting
04:05foes below. Make no mistake about it though, Wolverine's stealth abilities are just as punishing
04:11and aggressive as the traditional combat. And when, not if, your stealth falls apart,
04:16the game dynamically allows you to change up your combat tactics on the fly to adapt to various
04:21engagements. Environmental takedowns. A small thing to be sure, but one that could both change the
04:33tide of battle and make for some creative kills, is the fact that environmental takedowns seem to be a
04:39part of the gameplay cadence. In the extended gameplay trailer, we see Wolverine thrust a reaver
04:44through with two forklift spikes as he pushes him towards it. Like the rest of combat, it's bloody,
04:50brutal, and intense. We also see Jean Grey smash a large metal container on a truck during a heightened
04:56moment of the chaos. If these are anything to go by, the environments themselves will be tools
05:01and playgrounds for creative combat and kills to keep things fresh and gory.
05:11Oodles of locations. Given that Marvel's Wolverine isn't an open-world title, Insomniac Games has the
05:17breathing room to give our eponymous mutant plenty of unique locales to explore. It's been confirmed so
05:23far that Wolverine will explore Madripoor, Canada, Tokyo, and the Pacific Northwest. Obviously, there will
05:29be many more unique places for Wolverine to exact his special brand of claw-based menace in and around,
05:35all of which will, of course, tie into the deeply engaging storyline. We honestly can't wait to see what
05:41set pieces and encounters Insomniac has cooked up for us to engage with, since this game is touted
05:47after all to be a global thriller.
05:52Heal on the go. Wolverine fans already know that the titular character has incredible healing abilities.
05:58Well, it's no surprise then that the extended gameplay trailer highlights this both during gameplay
06:03and in, I guess, what looks to be a sort of transitional cutscene. By spamming the square button,
06:09we are shown that Wolverine can quickly self-heal via healing factor, putting him back in the fight
06:14to lay waste to the Reavers. It will be interesting to see if he has any passive self-healing outside
06:20of
06:20combat, apart from cutscenes, or if it's a button prompt slash ability each and every time. Hop aboard a
06:26motorcycle. Reminiscent of something from Days Gone or even the Uncharted games, Wolverine takes
06:35advantage of riding motorcycles in this adventure. While we've only seen him hop aboard a cycle in a
06:40very specific moment in the extended gameplay trailer during a mutant cargo transport via Trask
06:46Industries, ending with Wolverine fleeing the bike as a hurling weapon towards his foes,
06:51it's been confirmed he will be able to ride other cycles and vehicles during his globetrotting journey.
07:00Release date, platforms and pricing. At the time of writing, it has been confirmed that
07:05Marvel's Wolverine is releasing on September 15th, 2026 for $69.99 on PlayStation 5.
07:12You can also pre-order the game now with special goodies and additions for those who want more,
07:17including things like extra suits, claws, and technique points. Oh, and it's also worth noting that
07:23Insomniac has shared that the game will feature multiple worthwhile accessibility options to
07:28tailor the game to your liking. We honestly can't wait to jump in soon.
07:36So, are you looking forward to playing Marvel's Wolverine?
