00:00People are actually mad at DJ Khaled for being on this phone at this game.
00:04And I'm like, it's his money.
00:07It's true.
00:08He's allowed to.
00:09He's allowed to.
00:10Well, if I was sitting there, I wouldn't do it because your broke ass ain't afford it.
00:14All right?
00:16God almighty.
00:18I do wonder what he was up to, though.
00:19Like, do you think he's playing a video game?
00:21He might be texting Drake and keep apologizing.
00:23Drake, answer the phone.
00:24I need a cut.
00:25I need a hit.
00:27I need one of them Drake's timmies.
00:28I just wonder, too, because everybody in that kind of public eye knows they're in the public eye.
00:37DJ Khaled knows if he's on his phone the whole game, people are going to notice and talk about it
00:41and all that stuff.
00:42I just wonder if that's something that he did intentionally to get people fired up or whatever.
00:46No, not him.
00:46No, you don't think so?
00:47No.
00:47No, he just was actually moving and shaking.
00:49Yes.
00:50That's all.
00:50Making deals while he was down there.
00:52He used to have a damn pillow that he put his feet on.
00:54Yeah.
00:54Yeah.
00:55That was a little much for me.
00:57Yeah, so, yeah.
00:58But I get it.
00:59Those shoes were very expensive.
01:00Yeah, yeah.
01:00I don't want them to touch the guy even though you walked to his seat.
01:02Okay.
01:05Pink Jordans with a pink pillow.
01:06Okay.
01:07Yeah.
01:07Whatever, man.
01:08Yeah, whatever works for you.
01:08Whatever works for you.
01:09Whatever in life works for you.
01:10There was a, you know, there's always a ton of celebrities at Madison Square Garden games.
01:15The people that you come to expect, obviously.
01:17There was even more people there last night.
01:18Just like any, like, close-up shot of a sideline or whatever.
01:22I was like, oh, that's Larry David.
01:23But my thing.
01:23Oh, there's Chris Rock.
01:24My thing with this is this.
01:25When you go to those type situations, like, if you're not on Celebrity Row, let's say you're
01:30like five rows back, how big of a Celebrity Row are you?
01:33You're not.
01:33Okay.
01:35Even if you're in the second row.
01:36You know what I'm saying?
01:37You're in the second row.
01:38Yeah, that's like.
01:38You're a chump compared to guys in the front row.
01:40I'm like, how the hell did that happen?
01:42I know.
01:43How the hell did you, you know what I mean?
01:44Like, I don't view it that way because I've sat in, I don't go to a lot of games, but
01:49I've sat in various places.
01:51Yeah, but you've had your feet on the hardwood.
01:52Yeah, I'm playing.
01:53You've been down there.
01:53Yeah, and it's amazing.
01:55I bet it is.
01:56It is.
01:57But at the same time, like, the funniest thing is you always, whenever you see somebody
02:05there, and I do this now when I look at TV, and you're like, what the hell he do?
02:09I know.
02:09You know, I know what I do, and everybody here in the stadium knows what I do.
02:12Like, I know what Spike Lee did to get those tickets down there, and he's been there every
02:16What did you do?
02:17Who's the guy with the bad beard next to Timothy?
02:19Exactly.
02:20Who's that guy?
02:20Exactly.
02:21All the time.
02:21He must have invented some crypto or something like that.
02:23But that was always the thing when we would do that in Miami, and then you would meet
02:26those people, and you would understand that they got triple the money that you have.
02:30Oh, that guy owns the letter L.
02:31Yes.
02:32Yes.
02:32Huh.
02:32Yeah, like, I was talking about the gentleman who, in Miami, he sits in the same corner, right
02:38by the corner, by the score stable, him and his wife.
02:40And I was always wondering, he's very nice, man.
02:42Always wondering who the hell he was.
02:44Like, he's Mickey Ayers' best friend, and he owns European basketball teams.
02:49Oh, okay.
02:49Yeah.
02:50Yeah, so there you go.
02:51Yeah.
02:52And who he was.
02:53Nicest man in the world.
02:54It is funny.
02:55And she was, there's a sweetheart.
02:56A lot of times in those situations, too, it is like, yes, mega celebrity, like, prominent,
03:03whatever, politician, billionaire, whatever it is.
03:05And then it's this guy.
03:06What's that guy do?
03:07He just owns every AC unit in the world.
03:10Yes.
03:10Something like that.
03:11Every AC unit that gets installed, he gets a cut of it.
03:13Oh, okay.
03:13That was like Chris Rock when he saw myself.
03:15Yeah.
03:15He's like, I live next to a dentist.
03:17A dentist.
03:18They're like, what kind of thing are you pulling out?
03:20Exactly.
03:21And he's like, and he's not the best dentist.
03:23Right.
03:23You know how hard I had to work to make all this money?
03:26All the headline shows I had to do to sell out arenas?
03:30This guy's a dentist, and he's just a good dentist.
03:32He's not even a great, and that's my neighbor.
03:34Yeah, exactly.
03:36I know.
03:36It's great.
03:37It's a great point, man.
03:38I know.
03:38There's people wealthy from all kinds of different things.
03:40Hell yeah.
03:40All right.
03:41We'll mention this quickly, because they didn't play last night.
03:43Obviously, we'll talk more about the Braves tomorrow, hopefully after they beat the
03:45White Sox tonight.
03:46But they're back at it.
03:47Three-game series against Chicago.
03:50The White Sox slugger, Munataka Murakami.
03:54What happened to Munataka?
03:55He's out.
03:55He hurt his hamstring.
03:56He's hitting like a million home runs so far this year, but we're not going to get a chance
04:00to see him over the next couple of days.
04:01Which, fine with me, because he's just hitting bombs.
04:04Yeah.
04:05Grant Holmes on the mound, 740 strike.
04:07Yeah.
04:07I know.
04:08But at the same time, I mean, I think the biggest thing, just keep the momentum going.
04:11We talk about the series wins and everything like that, and we were just talking about
04:14both, just brought up the stat about the back end of the bullpen, how great they are.
04:17Because I know they're trying to get them more rest, right, as you go along.
04:21But yeah, I mean, Grant Holmes, we double-finger-crossing Grant Holmes?
04:24We should, yeah.
04:26Okay.
04:26Yeah, we should be doing that.
04:27Or maybe we can do all of them.
04:30Throw it like west side.
04:30Like west side or something like that.
04:32Is Michael playing?
04:32Well, the lineup hasn't been out.
04:34Is Michael going tonight?
04:35Don't know.
04:35Okay.
04:36But I do know that, oh, they changed it.
04:39It was supposed to be Eric Fetty.
04:40The one that I'm looking at now looks like it's going to be Isert, who is a little bit
04:45better, at least statistically, than Fetty is.
04:47Fetty's terrible.
04:48That would have been great.
04:49Hopefully we see him at some point this series.
04:50And maybe he is still going.
04:51This is just ESPN.
04:52But anyway, Braves are back at it tonight.
04:54We'll obviously get back into what they did tomorrow on the show.
04:58And Grant McCauley will join us tomorrow, as he always does.
05:00Let's get to the big story of the day to kick off the 1 o'clock hour.
05:04Brought to you by QC Kinetics.
05:05The next non-surgical treatment for joint pain.
05:09Brunson into the corner.
05:11Moving without the ball.
05:12Shamit lays a block by Wimbenyama.
05:14Erased that over the top of Shamit.
05:16He obliterated that shot off the glass.
05:19And kept it under control so our guys get the defensive board.
05:22He damn sure did.
05:22He did.
05:23He did.
05:24He destroyed it.
05:24I don't know what Shamit thought he was doing.
05:26Throwing up a floater in the middle of the lane.
05:26It looked like he was trying to use the rim or something to protect himself.
05:30But he should have got around the rim and got it on the backboard.
05:32I don't know what he's thinking.
05:33But, yeah, Wimbeny went and got it.
05:34Wimbeny went and got it.
05:35Now, that's another big part of last night, too, that we haven't really hit on yet,
05:39is some of those other guys that have been playing out of their minds for the Knicks.
05:44Landry Shamit, most specifically, terrible yesterday.
05:46Yeah.
05:46One for eight.
05:47Just, I mean, a lot of open shots that he had been hitting.
05:50He wasn't hitting.
05:50That one there, obviously, that Wimbeny erased.
05:53Mikael Bridges kind of went back to Hawks series.
05:58Yeah, he was.
05:59He was in foul trouble early.
06:00Totally, like, totally passive on offense.
06:02But I just think the whole thing yesterday, and they still, as good as them, won the game,
06:06was that Jalen Brunson, they went away from what got them to this 13-game win streak.
06:11Like, he's the closer.
06:13But he was trying to close it in the first quarter.
06:15You know, and I thought just not involving his teammates,
06:18especially when you talk about how OG had it going yesterday.
06:21Had it going.
06:21You did give Cat a chance.
06:23But, I mean, I'm going to give San Antonio all the credit because they came out with a different mindset.
06:27We talked about it yesterday, Bunk.
06:29Like, Wimbeny's play in the first quarter sets the tone for the whole damn game.
06:35It does.
06:35It's crazy how simple it is.
06:36Yeah.
06:36That's what it is.
06:37It sets the tone for the whole game.
06:38And he came out aggressive.
06:39I think he had three dunks or two dunks in the layup in, like, the first two minutes of the
06:42game.
06:43Steph Castle was great.
06:44He was putting people in the damn rim with the ball.
06:46We talked about the clutch three hits, you know, and we don't know where the game would go with that.
06:51Because, you know, in the fourth quarter, wherever Jalen Brunson shoots the ball, it's going to go in.
06:54That's just whatever reality that is.
06:57But, yeah, him playing, I'm talking about Jalen Brunson, going back to iso ball the way he did,
07:02especially because he's not having a good night.
07:03They're doing a good job on him.
07:04They've got bigger people to put on him.
07:06Yep.
07:06You know?
07:08They're doing the best job against Jalen Brunson that anyone's done since Dyson Daniels and the Hawks in the first
07:17couple games of that series.
07:18And the Hawks did to Jalen Brunson in that series what we said they needed to do.
07:227-25, 11-27.
07:24Last night.
07:25Yeah, but he's been inefficient all week.
07:26And so now, do you go back?
07:28And I think a lot of it, and we've talked about it, the atmosphere, the expectations of Game 3 in
07:35the Garden.
07:35First time they had a Finals game in that building since 1999.
07:38So there was a whole lot of that.
07:40We understand who was in the building.
07:41Just all the electricity of all being in that school guard.
07:44And they played tight.
07:45I know Mike Conte talked about it.
07:47They did.
07:47They did.
07:48They really, really did.
07:49And I think, but then you get to the second quarter, like, okay, they're fine.
07:5342 points in the quarter, and there's, I think it's a 19-point swing or something like that.
07:57Yeah.
07:58But give credit to this young San Antonio team because the youngest is why they're down 2-1 and not
08:03up 3-0.
08:04Because if they play with poids like they played yesterday, they'd be up real.
08:08Yeah, I do think that.
08:09I think that they're also doing the thing that young teams do.
08:13And we kind of questioned whether or not Wemby and these guys could do it on the fly in this
08:16series is just kind of learning.
08:18Like, every experience is a new experience.
08:21That's their first Finals game on the road.
08:23And that was obviously an insane environment last night.
08:26They looked a little bit more in control.
08:29Still not a ton in control.
08:31Like, they're still going maybe not 100 miles an hour, but like 90 miles an hour late in the fourth
08:37quarter.
08:38But they looked a little bit more poised, a little bit more in control.
08:42Obviously, the shots went in with Steph Castle and that prayer that went in, obviously, that helped save the game.
08:49I just think in those moments, the Knicks know they're going to Brunson, and they're going to bring screens for
08:56him,
08:56and they're going to run the crunch time offense that they run.
08:59I think the Spurs want to do that with De'Aaron Fox, but he just isn't physically able to be
09:04his normal self right now.
09:05And again, he made a huge shot last night that helped them win the game.
09:08But I don't know that they have the offense that they want in those moments.
09:13You know what I mean?
09:14Like, they love to run fast and get buckets before you can get set up and find an open shooter
09:18maybe in that way or get to the rim.
09:20When they're in a half court, it's almost like back again with the Hawks in the first round.
09:24But that's the thing with San Antonio is, especially when you have a dominant defensive player,
09:28you get back and you set your defense.
09:30Right.
09:31And they did a different job because they put Wimby on Hart.
09:36So he can be the Roman and everything.
09:37We talk about this all the time.
09:39I like Josh Hart.
09:40I think he does a lot of good things.
09:42I'll risk him in 32.
09:44Yeah, sure.
09:45If Josh Hart's going to make 4-7 from three, I'm going to take it because next game he's going
09:49to make 1-7.
09:49Exactly.
09:50It's not going to go inconsistent.
09:52I just think in that half court, it takes Wimby so long to get into position because Kat's just leaning
09:58on him.
09:59They weren't initiating their offense until like six, seven seconds left on the shot clock
10:04because they couldn't get guys in the spots they wanted them.
10:06The Knicks were just coming out and kind of being physical with them outside the three-point line.
10:10Wimby can't get in there if Kat doesn't want him to.
10:12So they've got to find another way to initiate that offense as opposed to waiting for Wimby to be on
10:17the block
10:17or wherever it is that they want him to get to.
10:19Because he's just not strong enough to get there.
10:21He's also not really a guy – and he's the best player on the team, obviously, one of the best
10:26players in the world.
10:27But you can't just throw it to him on the perimeter and be like, all right, go.
10:30Why so?
10:31But I think when Wimby's shooting from the perimeter, I mean, that's a win for the Knicks.
10:36Now, it goes in.
10:37Don't get me wrong.
10:38He can do it.
10:38He shot good yesterday.
10:39Yeah, he can do it and everything like that.
10:41But I think that's where the Knicks want him to live because he's so tall.
10:44And me and you were talking off the air.
10:46They just throw it up any kind of way, and he just goes and gets it.
10:48It's so awkward looking.
10:50It scares me every time.
10:50It's so awkward looking and everything like that.
10:52But, yeah, that's – I mean, it's like, okay, we got this guy.
10:55Let's just throw it high.
10:56Or then everybody – because he got the – they threw an alley-oop to him.
11:00And, like, Kat was – Kat's seven feet.
11:02Yeah.
11:03And –
11:03There was another guy down there, too.
11:05And he just jumps over and just dunks it on him.
11:07Tipped it in.
11:07Yeah.
11:08So maybe more of those plays, too.
11:10Yeah, definitely.
11:11Again, you know, you don't want to speak anything into existence or whatever.
11:14But every single time they throw him one of those reckless lobs
11:17and there's traffic down there and he goes up and gets it,
11:20I just hope he comes down on the court and not on somebody's foot.
11:23You know what I mean?
11:24Because there's just a lot of traffic down there to be throwing those bad lobs to him.
11:29But he gets – I guess they're not bad lobs if he gets them and he scores.
11:31Or they foul him and he gets to the free throw line.
11:33That's the thing.
11:34Like, that's the huge difference maker for him versus a lot of these other big men
11:38we've had in the past.
11:39You can't foul him.
11:41He shoots free throws great.
11:42Yes, very good.
11:42Yeah.
11:43And it's, like, real fluid, too.
11:44His three-point shot is, too.
11:46Like, he's got a real uncanny touch for a guy that big.
11:52Oh, it is.
11:53It's sweet.
11:53It's butter.
11:54It is.
11:54It's a nice-looking jump shot.
11:55It's butter.
11:56But in free throws – I mean, Steph Castle going up and making, you know,
12:00those two clutch free throws.
12:01We talked about Mike Brown.
12:02Now, that was one of those ploys where you're putting something into –
12:06my mom always said, come on, boy, let me put a bug in you.
12:09That's Mike Brown putting a bug in the ear of whoever's going to be calling
12:11the next game.
12:12Oh, yeah.
12:12Yeah.
12:13Definitely.
12:13That was all planned for him to – and, I mean, he also probably feels the way
12:18that he felt as well to say what he said.
12:20But, yeah, that's to try to get a better whistle in game four.
12:22I don't know that they got a bad whistle.
12:24San Antonio was able to be aggressive.
12:26Because they were in a penalty at eight minutes to the goal.
12:29They were.
12:31I was like, dang, they're already in the bonus?
12:33That's crazy.
