British startup and Uber set to launch first UK robotaxis in summer

British autonomous driving technology company Wayve demonstrates one of its taxis ahead of the scheme’s launch in the coming months, in partnership with Uber. Wayve's technology has been trained on Britain’s roads since 2018, with Kaity Fischer, the company’s VP of Commercial and Operations, saying its cars have learnt “on some of the most complex and hardest streets.” Wayve has said it is ready to launch its robotaxis as early as this summer, which would make it the first autonomous vehicle company in operation on Britain’s roads.
