00:01A ceremony proclaiming Tunku Nazaruddin Tuanku Jafar as the 12th Young Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan has been declared illegal

00:14In a statement on Tuesday, he said the ceremony, which took place at a hotel in Malacca on June 5,
00:20was not recognised under the constitution, legislation and customary laws of Negeri Sembilan.
00:26He said that based on the state's constitution, legislation and adat istiadat, the ceremony was illegal and therefore not recognised.
00:35As such, the attempt by Tunku Nazaruddin to assume the title of Young Dipertuan Besar was invalid and had no
00:43legal effect.
00:44Azizi said that by attempting to accept the title through an unlawful process,
00:49Tunku Nazaruddin had automatically forfeited the hereditary title of Tunku Panglima Besar Negeri Sembilan, which he previously held.
00:58He added that the title is currently vacant.
