After more than 20 hours at sea off Chintsa, the Oceans Research team encountered six individual white sharks across four days of fieldwork.

The findings revealed just how dynamic and mobile these predators are, while highlighting the importance of local ecological knowledge, marine protected areas, and long-term research. From white shark encounters to the remarkable biodiversity of the Amathole MPA, every observation helps us better understand and protect South Africa's marine ecosystems.

This is just the beginning of an exciting research and conservation journey.
