Watch this clip where a six-month-old British Shorthair kitten sparked an unusual rescue operation after becoming trapped inside a wall cavity in his family's kitchen.

Belinda Alodia Wijaya from Sydney, Australia, recorded the aftermath of the ordeal after her kitten, Chuchu, slipped through a gap behind the microwave and fell deep into the wall.

Although the family could hear him crying and scratching, they were unable to locate or reach him.

Concerned for his safety, they called Australian emergency services, prompting the NSW Police Rescue team to attend with specialist equipment, including cameras, to try to locate the stranded feline.

However, Chuchu reportedly went completely silent the moment rescuers arrived, making him difficult to find.

After hours of searching and investigating access points, officers drilled a hole in the wall large enough for the kitten to make his own escape.

Around ten minutes after the rescue team left, Chuchu calmly emerged from the wall and immediately helped himself to some treats as if nothing had happened.

She said: "Seeing Police Rescue in my kitchen was not on my 2026 bingo card.

"A huge thank you to the NSW Police Rescue team who came out to help us when Chuchu became trapped inside a wall cavity.

"Although Chuchu decided to go completely silent the moment they arrived, they spent hours helping us search, investigating access points, using cameras, and creating a safe escape route for him.

"Thankfully, Chuchu eventually made his way out on his own and is now completely fine (and acting like none of this ever happened).

"This experience taught us how important it is to check for hidden gaps and openings around your home. Cats are incredibly curious and can fit into spaces you would never imagine possible.

"We're so grateful for the kindness, patience, and effort from everyone involved, and most of all relieved to have our little troublemaker home safe."
