00:00We're going to get right to some breaking news that we are following that's just developed.
00:04We've just learned after the conclusion of our 6 p.m. newscast
00:07that there's been a violent incident at Penn Station.
00:11It looks to have been stabbing, might involve multiple victims.
00:15Our Meredith Gorman has been assigned to Madison Square Garden today
00:20because of the New York Knicks and everything going on there
00:24and was actually there to see some of the commotion.
00:27Meredith Gorman, thanks so much for being with us.
00:29What can you tell us about what the situation there is at this point, as you know?
00:34Hi, Arthur.
00:35Well, I had just finished up my 6 o'clock hit,
00:39basically just previewing the security protocols around the Knicks game three tomorrow.
00:43Of course, President Donald Trump is going to be in town.
00:46He's going to be watching the game, just steps behind me here at the Garden.
00:50But I would say around 7.10, I was standing right around here
00:53and we heard a bunch of commotion, tens of police cars coming through.
00:58So, ambulances and whatnot, they were all going down into Penn Station,
01:03into the lower area.
01:05We followed them and they went down into the New Jersey transit area.
01:09I saw multiple people being taken out.
01:14I'll just wait for this ambulance to go by right now because it's quite loud.
01:17We saw multiple people getting carried out, one person on a stretcher,
01:22a couple people walking out with what appeared to be slashing or stab wounds.
01:27And, yeah, so no word yet on if a suspect is in custody or if anybody has been arrested yet.
01:33But a lot of commotion.
01:35I went down into the New Jersey transit area shortly after.
01:40There was still a bit of a scene.
01:41There were also still a lot of people waiting for their trains.
01:45But we don't know if this was random or targeted.
01:48We're looking at some of the video of Meredith right now.
01:51And, I mean, it looks like it might have been a head injury for the one stretcher that we saw.
01:57Let's see if we have any other video of that scene there that we can play, Joe.
02:01Yeah, I can tell you what I did see.
02:05I saw, obviously, somebody with what appeared to be a face or head injury.
02:08And then I saw someone with what appeared to be a laceration of some sort to the side of their
02:13head or their ear.
02:14They were being taken in an ambulance.
02:16And then there was at least one other person involved.
02:20Not clear what their injury was.
02:23But it appears to be something happened in the New Jersey transit waiting area around track 6 is where I
02:30saw most of the commotion myself.
02:32And it appears to be something that resulted in, you know, some kind of slashing or stabbing that led to
02:37the lacerations.
02:39Meredith, sometimes if they don't have a suspect, they hold all the trains.
02:42Can you tell if New Jersey transit service was on hold when you were checking it out?
02:51I mean, it looked like, based on what I saw, the trains were going to get running soon.
02:56There were still a lot of people waiting.
02:58I didn't see any signs of the trains being stopped.
03:01So deductive reasoning would tell you that, based on that, hopefully they have a suspect.
03:07But, obviously, nothing's been confirmed yet.
03:09And we haven't heard anything from officials.
03:12Okay.
03:12And last question, for the most part there, are the ambulances still there standing by?
03:17Are they leaving?
03:19How's that scene playing out right now before you?
03:22Yeah.
03:23So right now, Amtrak police is handling the investigation.
03:26But there's still about three ambulances behind me.
03:31They're just waiting.
03:32And then there's a couple police cars left in the area.
03:35The scene has really winded down.
03:36When I went into the New Jersey transit area, I don't know, 15 minutes ago, there were people waiting for
03:41their trains.
03:41There was still blood on the ground and a bit of a scene.
03:44But it seems like things are kind of going back to normal in there.
03:49And there hasn't been any action in terms of people being carried into ambulances or anything, really, in the past
03:5545 minutes or so.
03:57All right.
03:57Meredith Gorman, thank you.
03:58You and the crew there, please be safe and keep us posted if any developments.
04:01That's it.
04:01That's it.
04:02That's it.
