00:00:00Аддон,
00:00:02came through the pits,
00:00:05managed
00:00:06to get ahead of
00:00:08George, but
00:00:10then Hadjar becomes the
00:00:12latest one for the Sewers to have a look at.
00:00:14So who is going to step
00:00:16up for
00:00:16a podium here? Of course it depends what sort of
00:00:19penalty it is, because a five-second penalty
00:00:22Hadjar could probably absorb. You're going to have
00:00:23Russell, you're going to have Gasly
00:00:25there with penalties of their own to serve.
00:00:27So you are then looking at
00:00:30Piastri to try and get close. I don't know
00:00:32if Isaac knows that he's under investigation or not, but
00:00:33he is a cool customer right now.
00:00:38A waiting word from Race Control.
00:00:40The last update
00:00:42about Hadjar, but
00:00:44we stand by under
00:00:45the red flag conditions.
00:00:47Gives us a chance to hear from another one
00:00:49of our retirements. Win of the Grand Prix
00:00:52here last year, didn't finish this.
00:00:53Lando Norris has been speaking to us downstairs.
00:00:55Yes, sir.
00:00:57Hey Lando, you just haven't had much luck
00:00:59this year from a reliability perspective.
00:01:01Just sum up how you're feeling right now after today.
00:01:04Pretty good. I'm actually happy to be out
00:01:05the race.
00:01:08Now, I mean, look, I'm fighting for
00:01:09a P8. I guess he has a penalty
00:01:11now. This is my chance to be there
00:01:13and get a few points.
00:01:15And, you know, at this point of the year, we're not
00:01:17expecting a
00:01:20we're not expecting a win
00:01:21or a podium. But, you know, we
00:01:23need to maximize sixth, seventh, fifth
00:01:26little points along the way and they all
00:01:27add up. And I'm
00:01:29working hard. The team are working hard and we're just not getting
00:01:31rewarded. We're just being, I guess,
00:01:33unlucky. Some of it's our fault. Some of it's
00:01:36failures. Some of it's
00:01:37just being unlucky. So,
00:01:39I don't know.
00:01:40We're doing the best we can. I'm doing the best I can.
00:01:43But when you just can't finish a race,
00:01:45I don't know what I should really expect.
00:01:50Well, Lando Norris understandably philosophical.
00:01:54He will look to the
00:01:55end of the year and trying to ratchet up wins.
00:01:57He had a superb drive in Miami.
00:02:01Pushed Antonelli all the way.
00:02:03Antonelli resisted the pressure.
00:02:04It's part of the four wins in a row that
00:02:06Antonelli's put together. The first driver ever.
00:02:09to win his first Grand Prix in Formula One.
00:02:10And follow it up with three more.
00:02:12Might be four more by the end
00:02:14of the day.
00:02:18So, penalties hanging over.
00:02:21Potential penalty hanging over Isaac Hadjar.
00:02:23Definite penalty given to George Russell
00:02:25of a drive through.
00:02:26A restart order has been issued.
00:02:28But we are waiting for word
00:02:31from race control
00:02:32about when we will get going.
00:02:34And this is George Russell.
00:02:36I thought this is Isaac Hadjar.
00:02:38Is this going to be a Hadjar safety car in Fringham?
00:02:43Hadjar safety car, Alex.
00:02:45Way more than safety car, Alex.
00:02:47Copy.
00:02:52That is the rule.
00:02:54Absolutely clear.
00:02:55That is the rule.
00:02:57Does anyone fancy standing on the podium at Monaco
00:03:01alongside Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton?
00:03:04Very, very strange.
00:03:06A big opportunity for Hadjar.
00:03:08But they will be able to look at the onboard.
00:03:11They will be able to judge whether it is ten car lengths.
00:03:13And if it is over ten car lengths,
00:03:16that will be a penalty applied to Hadjar.
00:03:18But Russell having to serve that penalty with Gasly.
00:03:22With a penalty as well.
00:03:25And Oscar Piastri.
00:03:28An odd day.
00:03:30Might be rewarded with a trophy for it.
00:03:34One of those days, isn't it?
00:03:35You've got just excellence out front.
00:03:40Antonelli with the performance of his life at the moment.
00:03:44It's just everything's going right for him.
00:03:45Hamilton's doing absolutely solidly.
00:03:48He got away with the penalty that he picked up
00:03:52by virtue of his teammate coming in and stacking behind him
00:03:54and not being able to benefit from that five seconds.
00:03:56He's not looked super quick at any moment in the race,
00:03:59but he might have a chance to...
00:04:03He might have a chance to do something,
00:04:05although I've just seen
00:04:06he's also been noted for a safety car infringement.
00:04:08My word.
00:04:11Max Verstappen
00:04:12trying to get his car off the line to contend with Kimi Antonelli.
00:04:16He went a few metres. He retired.
00:04:19Veltri Votas called back by the Cadillac team.
00:04:23For his second retirement of the season.
00:04:25His first was in the opening Grand Prix of the year.
00:04:28Oliver Behrman called back as well.
00:04:33Pulling up at the pits.
00:04:34He retired on lap 30.
00:04:39Lando Norris had George Russell directly behind him.
00:04:43He reported an issue on the radio earlier on.
00:04:46And then another problem.
00:04:50Lance Stroll.
00:04:52Now watch the part of the track that he goes over.
00:04:55Yeah.
00:04:57Scraped over the break-up.
00:04:59And into the tech throw to begin a sequence of events
00:05:02that would have big consequences for the podium positions.
00:05:05Antonelli.
00:05:06Hamilton.
00:05:06But not Leclerc.
00:05:07After this moment into the wall.
00:05:09Yeah.
00:05:09So what looks to be marbles from the tyre is break-up from the track.
00:05:13And that's why you could see it on the left front of Stroll.
00:05:17And you could hear it as he went wide.
00:05:19So he's got on that on the marbles, which is not rubber.
00:05:24It's little bits of asphalt.
00:05:26It's put Stroll off.
00:05:27And then Leclerc as well.
00:05:29So sweep up.
00:05:30Hopefully we'll do a bit of a job.
00:05:32Ten laps to go if we get this thing going again.
00:05:36And Hamilton confirmed under investigation for safety car infringement.
00:05:41One of those days, isn't it?
00:05:43Adrian Newey looking on thinking, hang on.
00:05:45Am I going to get a point here?
00:05:47Alonso's 14th.
00:05:48Colopinto's got a penalty coming.
00:05:50The race will resume.
00:05:52And it will resume in 10 minutes time.
00:05:55The signal given.
00:05:57They believe the 19th corner is raceable.
00:06:01And we will have a tight pack.
00:06:02We will have a restart.
00:06:04It is dry.
00:06:05It is absolutely possible.
00:06:06And we're going to have the five red lights going out once again.
00:06:10Hamilton under investigation.
00:06:14Hajar under investigation.
00:06:16Russell with a drive-through penalty.
00:06:18Gasly with a penalty.
00:06:21Oscar Piastri finding himself in sixth position.
00:06:25The points currently rounded out by Liam Lawson,
00:06:27Avid Lindblad, Alex Albin and Carlos Sainz.
00:06:31Laser focus once again.
00:06:34A man that's taken everything in his stride.
00:06:36Has got one more big test to bring home a Monaco Grand Prix win.
00:06:41It's rare they make them easy.
00:06:43Somehow the pole sitter in Monaco doesn't usually get a straight forward run.
00:06:48To win it.
00:06:50And Antonelli has got to get this thing off the line.
00:06:53With Hamilton in second place now.
00:06:56That Ferrari has been a rocket ship off the line.
00:06:58The consistency of launch has been so good.
00:07:00Hamilton without a Ferrari victory as well.
00:07:03Will be so hungry to put the pressure on to Antonelli.
00:07:08Do you think Antonelli would think championship if Hamilton's half around the outside?
00:07:13Or is he going to think Monaco win?
00:07:15Let's have a look whether Lewis Hamilton is ten car lengths.
00:07:20Back from Kimi Antonelli.
00:07:23I can't even see Kimi Antonelli.
00:07:25That's currently under investigation.
00:07:27Right, Mon.
00:07:28I think this rule gets gets flexed all the time.
00:07:32So Antonelli goes, accelerates with the safety car.
00:07:35Now it looks pretty dramatic there for Hamilton.
00:07:38It is a rule.
00:07:39It's there.
00:07:40George Russell certainly knows it.
00:07:42I think if you go through, you'd probably see that rule getting getting stretched a little bit at times.
00:07:49In the end now, it's up to the stewards to decide.
00:07:51We have those both looming over Hamilton and Hadjar second and third.
00:07:57And certainly Lewis would have come round probably to back corner and thought, oh, that feels like a big gap
00:08:03now towards the race leader.
00:08:06Nine minutes to go until we restart the Monaco Grand Prix round six of the season.
00:08:12And it is a consequential day where Kimi Antonelli looks to be adding another 25 points to his tally.
00:08:19Everyone else getting penalties, running into trouble.
00:08:23He has been serene out front, but it very much looks like he is going to hold all the cards
00:08:34on the race.
00:08:34He stopped purely because everyone else behind him has upset race control.
00:08:38Has there ever been a start or a restart where the guy on pole is just tailed by four drivers
00:08:44with penalties?
00:08:46Very, very strange occurrence.
00:08:50And Arvid Lindblad in conversation with Alan Tomein.
00:08:53You used to work with Alan Tomein in your racing days in Formula One.
00:08:56He's not ambiguous with these instructions, is he?
00:08:59No, I like it because he is the epitome of no nonsense.
00:09:03He will tell you you're rubbish if you're rubbish.
00:09:06He'll tell you you got a chance if you got a chance.
00:09:09Some of his radio over the years has been iconic.
00:09:12And he's been there and done it for so long.
00:09:15He's doing a good job with racing bulls.
00:09:17I would say he's great for young drivers for that reason.
00:09:21Will tell them what they need to know so long as you can cope with it.
00:09:25And he's making some good calls there with the team as well.
00:09:27So seventh and eighth.
00:09:31Lewis Hamilton back on his way to the car, scooting back to P2.
00:09:35Everything in Monaco is a bit tight.
00:09:37Let alone Lewis coming through on his scooter.
00:09:41Walking to and from the paddock, the pit lane.
00:09:45Getting on your yacht.
00:09:48Apparently.
00:09:50Good save.
00:09:52No one heard.
00:09:56Okay, seven minutes to go.
00:09:58Hamilton has made his way back to the car.
00:10:02Thank you to each and every one of you that stayed with us through the red flag.
00:10:06Kimi Antonelli has got a restart to deal with.
00:10:10Lewis Hamilton is currently under investigation for dropping too far back to Antonelli behind the safety car.
00:10:17The same thing applies to Isaac Hajar.
00:10:21George Russell definitely has a drive-through penalty.
00:10:24Pierre Gasly definitely has a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
00:10:28Two times five-second penalties, isn't he?
00:10:30Yes, he does.
00:10:31Correct.
00:10:31So, ten for Gasly.
00:10:33Drive-through for Russell.
00:10:35TBC for Hajar and Hamilton.
00:10:38Possibly nothing.
00:10:40Possibly a time penalty coming for them as well.
00:10:44I think if you're Kimi now, you've just got to forget about all of that.
00:10:48You've done an exemplary weekend.
00:10:52Full focus, getting strapped in, just thinking race start.
00:10:55Hook it up and drive this thing to the line.
00:10:59Okay, let's hear from another retirement from this Grand Prix.
00:11:02Verstappen, Bottas, Behrman, Norris and Lance Stroll have retired along with Charlotte.
00:11:08Let's hear from Stroll now.
00:11:10Hey Lance, obviously frustrating to not be able to finish that race.
00:11:14Just tell me through that moment at that final corner.
00:11:16Yeah, we have issues with the engine braking.
00:11:21So, every lap, every corner, the engine braking changes.
00:11:25Some laps it's pushing me forward, some laps it's pulling me.
00:11:28So, on that corner, it just pushed me forward.
00:11:31Like I have the throttle pedal half, you know, 50% on throttle and then going into the wall.
00:11:40And that's all she wrote for the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll.
00:11:47They've had such a tough season.
00:11:49Adrian, you were saying to you before the race, Julian,
00:11:51they're just waiting to get that big upgrade in the summer on the car.
00:11:56And effectively, that's the moment, they'll really start their season.
00:12:00Yeah.
00:12:01Spa, Florence Stroll told me on the grid.
00:12:03Adrian's basically confirming it.
00:12:05Waiting, they're not going to bring bits and bobs.
00:12:08They're going to bring the whole lot at the same time.
00:12:10Power unit and get this chassis working as well.
00:12:15There's nowhere to hide behind the power unit around Monaco.
00:12:18There's a lot more that's not going right with Aston Martin.
00:12:21Braking systems are so complex.
00:12:24Now the rear axle with the MG UK doing the braking,
00:12:26trying to recharge the energy into the battery.
00:12:31On the front, you've got your old-school brakes.
00:12:36And somewhere in between, you've got a brake balance shifting around.
00:12:39And if suddenly you feel like you've got a load of push
00:12:41because the MG UK is doing something that you're not quite expecting,
00:12:47that's the result there that Lance was describing.
00:12:51And very, very complex cars, some a little bit easier than others.
00:12:55And obviously the Aston Martin right now seems the hardest of them all.
00:13:00They've been racing in these parts since 1929.
00:13:05It is a fabled race.
00:13:07It's seen some incredible days.
00:13:09And it has a safety car restart to come your way
00:13:12that could yet turn into a standing start
00:13:13if the race director deems that the right route to take.
00:13:17Colopinto has just been told that on the radio.
00:13:20It could be a standing start.
00:13:22And that would be a real examination
00:13:24of perhaps the only weakness we've seen from Kimi Antonelli all year.
00:13:29I can't see any reason it wouldn't be a standing start.
00:13:32The race director is at his discretion.
00:13:35He can choose, but the conditions are absolutely fine.
00:13:40The issue with the track was at the final corner
00:13:42where they'll all be sorted out by the time they get through there.
00:13:45It won't matter if it's a standing or a rolling.
00:13:47So I would have thought that this would be a standing start,
00:13:51but we will wait for confirmation.
00:13:53Of course, if you're Antonelli, just please give me a rolling start.
00:13:56That didn't look easy as it was for Antonelli
00:13:59with tyre temperatures in play.
00:14:01Trying to get that dialled in
00:14:03and feeding the throttle through Raskas and out of the final corner.
00:14:09We've seen some incredible finishes
00:14:11for the Monaco Grand Prix through the years.
00:14:13It was once decided on the last lap of the final corner
00:14:16when Jack Brabham locked up, gifted the win to Jochen Ryn.
00:14:20We had the race in the early 80s
00:14:23where we had five drivers spin out
00:14:26or have a spin out of contention
00:14:29or have mechanical problems.
00:14:31Kimi Antonelli does not want to add to that collection.
00:14:35And he finds himself ready to go through the final procedure.
00:14:39Let's very quickly hear from Charles Leclerc
00:14:41who will not be taking part in this restart.
00:14:45He found the barriers at his home Grand Prix
00:14:47and he went straight to the pen to speak to us.
00:14:50Hey Charles, really have I seen you so upset
00:14:53I can understand that you're hurt and angry right now.
00:14:55Just sum up your emotions.
00:14:57Yeah, I mean, extremely disappointed, sad, angry, mixed off negative emotions.
00:15:10Yeah, I don't know how much I can go into the details, but I don't think, I mean, it's just
00:15:25not acceptable.
00:15:25And the issues I've faced with my brakes have been impossible.
00:15:35It's not that it's difficult, it's that in this particular moment, it's just impossible.
00:15:40I cannot do anything.
00:15:41The only thing I can do is not brake for the last corner, but in a Formula One car,
00:15:46not braking in the last corner ends up in the wall anyway.
00:15:49So I put the least amount of brakes I could possibly do.
00:15:52And it's not even braking, it's leaning my foot on the brake.
00:15:56And the rear brakes was not working at all.
00:15:59So I don't know if there was an issue there or if it's just the inconsistency I get.
00:16:02And the front delivered a lot more than what it should.
00:16:06So that's what happened.
00:16:08Obviously, second successive weekend, you struggled with the brakes.
00:16:11How much hope can you have that there'll be a fix in time for Spain?
00:16:14We have a fix.
00:16:17We have different configurations between cars and I think we found a solution.
00:16:23So that is positive.
00:16:25I didn't really want to change this weekend.
00:16:27And for that, maybe I am to blame in a way that I thought that on a track like this
00:16:32in Monaco,
00:16:32it was good to start with brakes that I knew.
00:16:34But considering the issues I've dealt with and that there are no solutions on a track like this,
00:16:43not much to say.
00:16:45Hard luck, Charles.
00:16:48Well, for Charles Leclerc, the devastation of seeing a home podium slip away
00:16:56and the weekend he committed his future to Ferrari, answers for the team to find for their driver.
00:17:03The FIA have reminded everyone to stay within 10 car lengths when we put a green light at the end
00:17:09of the pit lane.
00:17:10And we will trail out of the pit lane in a few moments time with Kimi Antonelli ahead of Lewis
00:17:16Hamilton.
00:17:17Hadja under the looming thread of investigation.
00:17:21And a potential penalty for falling more than 10 car lengths back.
00:17:24George Russell, when we resume the race, we'll have to serve a drive-through penalty.
00:17:28Pierre Gasly has two five-second penalties for speeding in the pit lane.
00:17:33Oscar Piastri, Liam Lawson, Arvid Lindblad, Alex Alvin and Carlos Sainz are the top 10.
00:17:41There has been the message that it is possible to have multiple laps here.
00:17:47Kimi Antonelli now catches the safety car.
00:17:50The race director can run as many laps as he wants to behind the safety car
00:17:53to assess whether the track is raceable at turn 19 before giving the signal to restart the race.
00:18:00And, of course, the gaps all look really big between all the drivers as they're catching the safety car,
00:18:05all leaning on it, trying to get some tyres up.
00:18:07You can see Lewis with a bit of opposite lock coming out of Portier,
00:18:11and now they bunch up behind the safety car.
00:18:13And this is when you're more able to just dictate your own pace
00:18:16and, of course, have most of it dictated by those ahead of you or the safety car.
00:18:21Hadja again is leaving a bunch of gaps.
00:18:25George Russell once again on the radio, once again saying that Hadja is leaving big gaps.
00:18:33They've all been warned about it as well.
00:18:35You cannot drop, according to the rule book, further back than 10 car lengths.
00:18:40Otherwise, you run the risk of a penalty.
00:18:41And as you say, Joly, it's not always evenly applied.
00:18:43Sometimes if it gets missed, you might get away with it.
00:18:46But once one person's put the appeal up, everyone gets scrutinized.
00:18:49I don't have enough power.
00:18:52Yeah, keep pushing, keep pushing.
00:18:54I hear a lot of power.
00:18:55It's coming back.
00:18:59So the issue is with it, you can be, let's say you're Hadja,
00:19:03or let's say you're further down in the pack, you're Lawson.
00:19:06If Piastri leaves eight car lengths to Gasly and then guns it,
00:19:11he'll very quickly put some car lengths to you.
00:19:13So all of these things get harder and harder to be there
00:19:17with acceleration of Formula One cars so extreme
00:19:20that everyone's leaving gaps here.
00:19:21Of course you're not going to drive on the gearbox of the car ahead.
00:19:24So it just gets a little bit more spread the further back you get.
00:19:29And then as soon as someone then drills it through two or three corners,
00:19:32then suddenly you're like, oh, how did that gap get so big so quickly?
00:19:36And I think that's what you're seeing a little bit with some of the gaps.
00:19:39Thanks for staying with us.
00:19:41We're about to enjoy a standing start.
00:19:43It gives an opportunity to so many and the news has come through.
00:19:47I think they have just swept it.
00:19:49Yeah, I've still broken up.
00:19:51You copy.
00:19:56Antonelli reporting back that the track is breaking up at turn 19.
00:19:59He will have to take a second standing start.
00:20:01The five red lights will come on.
00:20:03And when they go out, it will be a genuine fight for the win.
00:20:06Because Lewis Hamilton has been cleared by the stewards.
00:20:10No further action on a safety car infringement.
00:20:12We have a genuine battle off the line to win the Monaco Grand Prix.
00:20:17That's huge.
00:20:18Gather your focus again.
00:20:19We wait for confirmation of Hajar receiving the same.
00:20:23No further action, but wasn't exactly the same case,
00:20:26but the same crime between the two of them.
00:20:29He'll be hoping the same and not be thinking about that whatsoever
00:20:31as they come past our commentary position
00:20:34and get ready for another go at a sprint format in Monaco.
00:20:40Well, there are sprint formats and there are sprint formats.
00:20:45Kimi Antonelli trying to get some tyre temperature in those soft Pirelli tyres.
00:20:50So we'll do the race start and then we'll get two racing laps
00:20:54and then we will need to do a drive-through penalty.
00:20:59George Russell being informed of the penalty.
00:21:05Kimi Antonelli lining up.
00:21:08He was miles clear.
00:21:10The Grand Prix was one, but it's never straightforward to win in Monaco.
00:21:15He has struggled off the line in 2026.
00:21:19He needs the best start of his season to get it right.
00:21:22He is miles back in his grip box as well.
00:21:25I don't know if he's going to creep forward or not,
00:21:27but he is a long way back, which gives Hamilton a bit more of a chance.
00:21:31Eight metres between Lewis Hamilton, a three-time Monaco Grand Prix winner,
00:21:37and Kimi Antonelli.
00:21:39It is nearly time for the second start of the Monaco Grand Prix.
00:21:44Here come the lights.
00:21:49Antonelli versus Hamilton to win the Grand Prix.
00:21:52And Antonelli crawls off the line, but he's got what he needs.
00:21:56And he holds off Lewis Hamilton.
00:21:59Hadjar gets a poor getaway.
00:22:00He tumbles down.
00:22:01And through go the two drivers who need to serve the penalty past him.
00:22:05Russell and Gasly get by.
00:22:07Hadjar tumbles down, but there's still penalties to be served.
00:22:10And Russell is super slow.
00:22:13And what's going on with George Russell?
00:22:14Managed to get up into third place,
00:22:16but look how far back he is from everyone else.
00:22:18Backing the field up incredibly.
00:22:21Has he got an issue?
00:22:22George Russell has to serve a drive-through penalty.
00:22:26It's chaos behind.
00:22:27Look at this between the racing balls.
00:22:29Russell's...
00:22:30Oh!
00:22:31Into the wall.
00:22:33And damage for Sainz as Hülkenberg makes contact
00:22:36and goes up to take position.
00:22:39Lawson and Lindblad were close as well.
00:22:41Antonelli is 1.4 seconds clear on an extraordinary restart lap.
00:22:46And now we see Sainz tumble out of the points as a result of their contact.
00:22:51Well, it all starts from George Russell on a go slow mission.
00:22:54Like he's in a protest on that first lap.
00:22:56Got up to third place.
00:22:58He's got acceleration because he managed to get through the tunnel okay.
00:23:01But through the hairpin section,
00:23:03just fancy sitting in the middle of the road,
00:23:05backing the entire pack up.
00:23:06And then, of course, you get chances outside of the top ten thinking,
00:23:09alright, it's now or never.
00:23:11Let's go for it.
00:23:12Kimi Antonelli with the start that he will treasure.
00:23:16Oh, that's pressure when you've all but won the Grand Prix
00:23:19and you have to go back to a standing start.
00:23:21He launched ahead of Lewis Hamilton,
00:23:24who wasn't able to get close.
00:23:25George Russell still has to serve that drive-through penalty.
00:23:29Gasly still has ten seconds hanging over it.
00:23:31I'm trying to work out what's going through George's head to drive like that on the first lap.
00:23:37He's obviously got to now bail out on the next lap to take his drive-through penalty.
00:23:41We have seen him struggle with restarts earlier this year, notably in China.
00:23:45Oh, come on. He was so slow.
00:23:49It can't just be that.
00:23:51From a standing start, his teammate's gone.
00:23:54He's under pressure and dealing with it once again.
00:23:57Phenomenally well with Lewis Hamilton there.
00:23:59What's the advantage?
00:24:00I don't know if he's just trying to cause chaos further back and hope that there's another stoppage
00:24:04or a complete track blockage or something.
00:24:07I've never seen anything like it.
00:24:08Risky though, isn't it? Risky.
00:24:10Oh, it's very, very close between Hülkenberg,
00:24:13who is getting ahead of Alex Elven, but he did it off the road
00:24:17and he will know that he needs to give it back.
00:24:19Different warm-up, different tyres, power deployment as well playing a part at the moment.
00:24:25Lawson did stay ahead of Lindblad, who got very close.
00:24:27Hülkenberg is ninth, but he's got to give the place back.
00:24:29Russell called to the pit lane.
00:24:31Yeah, so that'll be Russell down and out of things.
00:24:34And he tumbles down to make it even better for Kimi Antonelli.
00:24:39It's going to put Perez up into 11th and Alonso in 12th,
00:24:42so there's a points chance for some of these minnows as well.
00:24:45There goes Russell out behind that lot.
00:24:47Hadjar has been noted for a red flag infringement now.
00:24:51Only noted, he's got a safety car infringement hanging over him.
00:24:56Antonelli and Hamilton are separated by 1.2 seconds.
00:24:59Gasly will have 10 seconds added to his race time when he crosses the line.
00:25:03Hülkenberg has not given the place up.
00:25:04Now he does, and I think that's the sensible move.
00:25:06Albon stayed on the track.
00:25:08If Albon had to cut through, he might have had a case, but he had to give that one up.
00:25:12He's still back up into 10th, which has become ninth with Russell taking his drive through.
00:25:17Still his first points of the year. It's the right approach.
00:25:21That would have been penalized for Hülkenberg.
00:25:23Ocon is now on to score a point.
00:25:25Hadjar has been cleared of the safety car infringement, but the red flag infringement will be investigated after the race.
00:25:32Right, not a clue on that one, but we've had all the infringements come up in this one.
00:25:41I don't know if any of them have been from any sort of incident with cars together, but that'll come
00:25:45for whoever tipped Carlos Sainz into a spin as well, I'm sure.
00:25:48This was George Russell ahead, and then you can see further back, you get the contact, Carlos into the wall.
00:26:00Yeah, it's Hülkenberg.
00:26:01Yeah.
00:26:01He's not trying to pass Sainz, I don't think, that he just doesn't have the steering lock to do anything
00:26:06else, but he's trying to turn around and they just catch right front into left rear.
00:26:11That's a tough one. Here we go, on board with Hulk.
00:26:16It's definitely Hulk.
00:26:17Down the inside.
00:26:19Yeah, look, he's just, he's on the lock stop trying to get the thing turned, but it's difficult.
00:26:23I mean, that's such a difficult corner to negotiate anyway.
00:26:26Right, part two, Franco Colopinto trying to get by, and this is why he was facing the wrong way.
00:26:31Two taps for Carlos Sainz.
00:26:33Yeah, getting really beaten up on the restart.
00:26:35He's finishing the points every single Monaco Grand Prix he's started.
00:26:40This one he will not, out of the race.
00:26:42And he was on for that, he was on for that moment.
00:26:44Piastri all over the back of Hadjar.
00:26:47Hadjar's been cleared of the safety car infringement, but not the red flag infringement.
00:26:51So Gasly has ten seconds of penalty to serve.
00:26:55Where can he end up with this?
00:26:57Because right now he can serve that and still be eight.
00:26:59But with every lap that Gasly backs up Piastri and Lawson's not going with them either.
00:27:05Gasly can make this better.
00:27:06So he has to go full tilt for the last four laps of this Grand Prix and see what he
00:27:12can produce.
00:27:12Something spectacular to get a great return still for Alpine.
00:27:15Might yet come towards him.
00:27:18Kimi Antonelli about to extend his championship advantage.
00:27:23Lewis Hamilton about to rise.
00:27:29That's the best case for Gasly in third place.
00:27:32Hadjar with no power.
00:27:33I'm sure that's what must have cost him off the line as well on the start there.
00:27:37Just not able to get anything as soon as the lights went out.
00:27:41No acceleration from him.
00:27:43Verstappen out right at the start and Hadjar also has been fighting that since the workout.
00:27:48We don't have a clue what Red Bull are capable of in terms of race pace
00:27:51because the only one in there has been nursing an issue.
00:27:54Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, Lance Stroll, Lando Norris, Oliver Berman, Gabriel Bortoleto.
00:27:59And at the very start of the race, Max Verstappen.
00:28:03A race of attrition.
00:28:05A race heading towards Kimi Antonelli.
00:28:07Hamilton just has no pace to fight, but he will be looking at back-to-back podiums,
00:28:12had to hear a whole season of you not being on a Grand Prix podium for Ferrari.
00:28:16He's looking at his third of the campaign and his second in a row.
00:28:21Well, you can't believe that's come up again, can you?
00:28:24Perez out of position again.
00:28:26No way.
00:28:27He had a drive-through for that at the start of the race.
00:28:31This is...
00:28:32It's a mad, mad day.
00:28:34The amount of penalties.
00:28:36I don't really have anything to compare it to.
00:28:38I've never seen a Grand Prix with this many penalties,
00:28:41this many investigations.
00:28:43What a great example of how epic it is rotating a Formula One car into Casino Square.
00:28:49And all the technicalities as well.
00:28:51All the ones that we've seen.
00:28:54Absolutely bizarre.
00:28:57So, Hadjar is under investigation.
00:29:00But, if you're Piastri, you cannot guarantee that that's going to be a penalty or not.
00:29:04We don't know what it's for.
00:29:05A red flag infringement of sorts.
00:29:07There's a podium on the line.
00:29:09Casley's not escaping.
00:29:10Hadjar's got enough pace to stay within three seconds, which is comfortably the podiums.
00:29:14And this is your podium fight with two and a half laps to go.
00:29:19If Perez manages to get in the top ten and gets pinged for being out of position on the start,
00:29:23I mean, wow.
00:29:24Cadillac will be devastated.
00:29:27Our gallery have wound it back and had a look and they say he's long in the box.
00:29:30They say it's slam dunk.
00:29:32Oh, come on.
00:29:33You don't know what this Hadjar penalty is going to be.
00:29:36You don't know if anyone else is going to pick something up.
00:29:39If he gets done for that.
00:29:40Wow.
00:29:43Kimi Antonelli has put in the fastest lap of the race.
00:29:47Second and a half quicker than Hamilton on the lap.
00:29:50Just unbelievable pace that the 19-year-old born in Bologna has access to.
00:29:57And no one has been able to live with him in this Grand Prix that we are on the penultimate
00:30:01lap of.
00:30:02He's on another planet, isn't he?
00:30:04What a talent.
00:30:05And he's just got the confidence that we saw in Canada when he was just attack, attack, attack on George
00:30:12Russell the whole time.
00:30:13Didn't mind if he was forced out onto the grass, bouncing there and giving another go.
00:30:17He has got so much confidence.
00:30:20And behind all that, he has got an incredible amount of talent as well.
00:30:24Toto Wolff saw it all those years ago.
00:30:26Fast tracked him into Mercedes.
00:30:28He had to ride a bit of a choppy roller coaster last year.
00:30:32But when it goes right, my word, he is displaying all the hallmarks of a champion right now.
00:30:39We are on board with Oscar Piastri.
00:30:43Fifth place for him.
00:30:45Staying tight to Hadjar who will be investigated for a red flag infringement after the race.
00:30:50Gasly will have 10 seconds added to his race time to drop him down from what would be such a
00:30:57meaningful result for the driver who spent so much time at the back.
00:31:00But we're on the 78th and last lap of the Monaco Grand Prix.
00:31:05It has been a penalty fest.
00:31:08It has been a race of attrition.
00:31:09But it has been an absolute exhibition from Kimi Antonelli who from a standing start with a few laps to
00:31:16go leads by 6.3 seconds.
00:31:19Different world.
00:31:21So much could go wrong around this place, but you wouldn't know it looking at Kimi's weekend.
00:31:25It has been outstanding from start to finish.
00:31:28Pole yesterday absorbed all of the pressure and here he comes for the final corners.
00:31:33Well, Giuseppe Farina won the first title in 1950.
00:31:37Ascari followed him soon after, but it's been a 73 year wait for Italy.
00:31:43Is this the day they begin to believe that it's coming home?
00:31:48Kimi Antonelli wins the Monaco Grand Prix.
00:31:52The teenager can't stop winning in Formula One.
00:31:55That's five in a row.
00:31:57And this one will mean everything to him and his family.
00:32:01Lewis Hamilton with back to back second places in Formula One and Pierre Gasly will bemoan the penalties
00:32:09because when you add on five and then five again, he drops down and it will elevate on the racetrack
00:32:15at least.
00:32:16Isaac Hajar to the podium for just the second time in Formula One.
00:32:23Oscar Piastri in fourth.
00:32:25Liam Lawson P5.
00:32:27Arvid Lindblad is in sick.
00:32:29Gasly drops to seventh.
00:32:30Then it's Albon, Hulkenberg and Ocon.
00:32:33Here's the winner.
00:32:34Get in there, Kimi.
00:32:36Nice work there, pal.
00:32:39That was a faster class, mate.
00:32:40First Monaco win.
00:32:42Woo-hoo!
00:32:47Oh, my God.
00:32:49Yeah, a bit tense at the end there, mate.
00:32:50Bit tense at the end, but yeah, what a great job.
00:32:54Thank you so much, guy.
00:32:57The car was at peace today.
00:32:59My goodness, thank you so much.
00:33:01No, great job there, mate.
00:33:03Great job.
00:33:06What, just two and a half hours later?
00:33:08He comes through and finally celebrates what he's had in his pocket the entire time.
00:33:14To keep the concentration up as well.
00:33:16He's just ticking every single box.
00:33:20And, well, what a championship lead.
00:33:23What a championship lead for him.
00:33:27And, well done, Lewis.
00:33:28Great job, guys.
00:33:30Sorry I can pull the win.
00:33:32Sorry I can get the win in the end.
00:33:34They just had the upper hand on us this weekend.
00:33:37But, mega result.
00:33:39Really grateful for all the hard work and let's continue to push.
00:33:42Thank you.
00:33:43Gracias, tutti.
00:33:43That's a tell, Lewis.
00:33:45For today we can be happy.
00:33:48It's a ten second time penalty for Nico Hülkenberg for causing a collision.
00:33:53It drops him out of the points and it promotes Sergio Perez.
00:33:56Cadillac could have been looking at their first point.
00:33:58And at the moment they do have their first point.
00:34:01But him parking up long in his grid box could well be a penalty.
00:34:05And then it would mean...
00:34:07Read the name for me.
00:34:09Fernando.
00:34:10Bravo.
00:34:11Bravo.
00:34:12Oh, job mate.
00:34:13Good job.
00:34:14It's P3.
00:34:15Nice work.
00:34:16Oh, my God.
00:34:17Why does it have to be so difficult?
00:34:20What?
00:34:20You worked hard for that one, mate.
00:34:22We threw everything at you.
00:34:23Good job.
00:34:26Alonso.
00:34:29I have loved today.
00:34:31But this has been downright bonkers at times.
00:34:36A driver with an ailing car has finished in third and he's still got an investigation hanging over him.
00:34:41But for the moment, magnificent Isaac Hadjar.
00:34:44Second podium in Formula One.
00:34:46What a drive from him.
00:34:47He doesn't know he's under investigation.
00:34:49I don't think.
00:34:50Because, I mean, the team rightfully shouldn't tell him that as well in this stage.
00:34:55What a drive from him.
00:34:56Third position with so much going on.
00:34:58So you've got Perez or Alonso for a final point.
00:35:02What?
00:35:02And if Perez is long in his box and that gifts it to Aston Martin, that will be such a
00:35:07kicker for Cadillac.
00:35:09And he's come back so motivated.
00:35:10He's come back really wanting to prove himself again.
00:35:14A former winner of this Grand Prix.
00:35:16But it might be a parking penalty that cost Cadillac their first point in Formula One.
00:35:22Fernando Alonso will inherit it.
00:35:24Isaac Hadjar says well done to Kimi Antonelli.
00:35:26What a story for Kimi Antonelli.
00:35:30This season suddenly that looked for all the world like it was going to be a Mercedes Fest week in,
00:35:37week out.
00:35:38Maybe sometimes Antonelli, maybe sometimes Russell.
00:35:41So many thought that Russell would dominate.
00:35:43And instead it is Antonelli who has won five Grand Prix in a row.
00:35:48And everyone else in championship history who has done that has gone on to lift the title.
00:35:5468 points of championship lead over George Russell.
00:35:58Over George Russell, Lewis Hamilton with the 18 climbs to second.
00:36:03Russell will surely still be the main contender with the pace that Mercedes have got.
00:36:07You're absolutely right.
00:36:08To have that margin, no one on the planet would have predicted that gap between the Mercedes contenders when we
00:36:15left Melbourne.
00:36:16If at any stage at all.
00:36:18You add in the form guide, five wins in a row.
00:36:21No points for the last two races for George.
00:36:24Of course his performance would have got him somewhere in there.
00:36:26But his performance hasn't been on a par with his young teammate for a while.
00:36:32Scratching his head as Antonelli jumps into the arms of his mechanics.
00:36:36The story of two different sides of the Mercedes garage right now.
00:36:41It could not be more opposite.
00:36:43It is surely the greatest day of Kimi Antonelli's young career.
00:36:47He has won the Monaco Grand Prix and extended his championship lead beyond 60 points.
00:36:54There's DC.
00:36:55We saw him a while back.
00:36:57He popped down to speak to the top three.
00:37:00And he's been down there waiting for the race to resume and the drivers to appear.
00:37:06Kimi Antonelli with a fifth win in Formula One in a row in front of his father.
00:37:14He's had his family with him earlier this year as well.
00:37:18In Japan, in Miami.
00:37:21So many of the Antonelli's years have orbited the chance for this driver.
00:37:26But this, this is something special.
00:37:29And seasons are long.
00:37:30We're going all the way to round 22 as it stands.
00:37:33And I tell you what, it is all the way in December that things can change.
00:37:38Last year, we'll tell you that.
00:37:39But Antonelli is having the time of his life.
00:37:43He's won the Monaco Grand Prix by 6.2 seconds.
00:37:46Lewis Hamilton is alongside him for back-to-back podiums.
00:37:49And Isaac Hadjar is third for his second Formula One podium with Piastri eight tenths of a second back.
00:37:55Set to inherit it if there's any penalty for Hadjar.
00:38:00There will be investigations for Sergio Perez, who is P10 across the line.
00:38:05Gasly's penalties have automatically been applied to the race result.
00:38:10Hülkenberg looked like he was going to score points.
00:38:13He has got a ten-second penalty to drop him down to 14th.
00:38:16Marcus Dudley, race engineer to George Russell in conversation.
00:38:20Defining week of that partnership coming up ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix.
00:38:33We're going to hear from the top three in a few moments' time.
00:38:36In fact, those moments of right now, David Coulthard is speaking to Hadjar Hamilton and Antonelli.
00:38:43Isaac Hadjar, congratulations, your second podium in Formula One.
00:38:48And, of course, here in Monte Carlo, that was not an easy race for you.
00:38:52I can see it on your face. Take us through the journey.
00:38:56Yeah, I mean, we got off to a clean start and we're managing the race.
00:39:01And then within the first ten, fifteen laps, I started having massive drivability issues.
00:39:07And around here, if there's one track you don't want that, it's here.
00:39:12So, yeah, it was incredibly challenging having to cover sixty laps like that.
00:39:18And even towards the end, I was still lacking power on the restart.
00:39:24And then having this red flag, the uncertainty as to whether it was going to be a great start, following
00:39:30or not, getting your head back into that.
00:39:33So, a very tough weekend and a tough afternoon, I guess, to finally get that podium.
00:39:38Yeah, I mean, honestly, on my restart, I felt like I had a good start and then suddenly I had
00:39:43a hole and I lost two places.
00:39:46But I knew the Coulthard had that penalty, but I had limited power.
00:39:50And I never had to send it that much in my life through the corners to stay within five seconds
00:39:56of Pierre.
00:39:57But, yeah, it's an outstanding weekend considering how it started in FP1.
00:40:00I had no confidence to get back up, but we did it. So, yeah, I'm happy.
00:40:06Excellent. Well, well-driven. Enjoy the podium.
00:40:09Thank you.
00:40:22Lewis Hamilton, you have now just had your eighth podium result here in Monaco.
00:40:27That equals the late, great Ayrton Senna.
00:40:30There's no one more than you two guys have had more podiums.
00:40:34You've been on it all weekend.
00:40:37Tell us about that journey.
00:40:39Yeah, well, I mean, I have to start by congratulating Kimi and to the Mercedes team.
00:40:46My whole family, they've done it again.
00:40:49They've created an amazing car and Kimi's doing an incredible job just delivering weekend, weekend out.
00:40:55So, it's great to see and I'm really happy for them.
00:40:58On our side, I think we've been progressing over the past months and can't quite keep up with them just
00:41:05yet.
00:41:06And it's probably going to take a lot of work for us to get to their level.
00:41:09But to get another second place is such a great feeling, especially in Monaco.
00:41:15Under the trickiest conditions, it was the hardest conditions out there.
00:41:18And we've had such a great turnout today as well.
00:41:21So, yeah, I'll definitely take it.
00:41:23But just briefly on that, when you mentioned the difficult conditions,
00:41:26what particularly of all of the Grand Prix's you've done here was giving you the biggest challenge?
00:41:32I think for me, it's really the car.
00:41:35The car is good, but we need more downforce ultimately.
00:41:40And I think just with the tires, with the different scenarios we had out there,
00:41:44you know, I ran out of tires quite early in the first stint.
00:41:47And then I was on that long second stint and these tires aren't particularly great just over a long stint.
00:41:52So, holding on to that was going to be tough.
00:41:55And then once we had to slow down on the safety car, you lose all temperature.
00:41:58And you saw with other drivers out there that it was really hard to stay on track.
00:42:03So, I think just with all the different things that have been thrown at us, it was massively challenging.
00:42:07But really, really grateful for the day. Happy, grateful to the team.
00:42:11Grazie to everyone back at the factory and all the guys here worked so hard to get this result.
00:42:17They truly deserve this and more.
00:42:20And I'm just going to keep working harder to try and see if I can finally take that next step
00:42:24for them soon.
00:42:25Well, I know you know your way to the podium, so enjoy.
00:42:28Thank you.
00:42:42Kimi Antonelli, this is your fifth straight victory.
00:42:47But I think in the context of right now in Monte Carlo, you have been flawless all weekend. Congratulations.
00:42:54Thank you so much. It's been an incredible weekend, incredible race.
00:42:59And it was one of those days where, you know, we had so incredible pace.
00:43:05And it was just coming all so natural and the car was feeling incredible.
00:43:10And it just was giving me the confidence to push.
00:43:13So, it was a very enjoyable day.
00:43:15The last time an Italian won this Grand Prix, you weren't even born.
00:43:19It was Jarno Trulli 22 years ago.
00:43:22You're not just representing your family, your team, you're representing a nation.
00:43:27Yeah, I mean, it's, you know, and the job's not finished, you know.
00:43:30It's still a long season and we've got to keep pushing, keep raising the bar.
00:43:34And the goal is to keep, you know, keep performing like this.
00:43:39You know, the team is doing an incredible job.
00:43:42They've given me, given us an incredible car.
00:43:45And I've got so much support from the team as well, from my family.
00:43:49So, yeah, it's a really good moment so far.
00:43:52I was watching you when you were out of the car during the red flag.
00:43:56Nothing seems to phase you.
00:43:58You know, I think when they announced the grid start, I would have thought,
00:44:00I've got to do it all again, but you're just soaking it up.
00:44:03Yeah, I mean, to be fair, I wasn't super keen on restarting as well.
00:44:07Because, yeah, I was, I didn't really want to restart.
00:44:11But then, you know, once the notification came out, I just got on my emotion, my thoughts.
00:44:17And I started to focus again, looked at some data and so on.
00:44:21And just tried to refocus on, on restarting and then trying to get the tires in the right temperature.
00:44:27And then once I got away, I knew I was going to make it into P1 into the first corner.
00:44:32And then from that point on, I just enjoyed the last few laps.
00:44:35Well, I think we can call this Grand Prix weekend perfection.
00:44:39Congratulations.
00:44:40Go and enjoy spraying the champagne.
00:44:42Thank you so much.
00:44:43Thank you everyone for supporting us this weekend.
00:44:50Formula One's new superstar, punching the air before he crossed the line.
00:44:56Kimi Antonelli with a day of days.
00:45:00Kimi, nobody could have taken that away from you today.
00:45:03Well done.
00:45:04Totally in control.
00:45:05And I think I'm hearing the youngest ever Monaco Grand Prix winner.
00:45:08Thank you so much, Toto.
00:45:10Thanks everyone back in Brackley and Brickport.
00:45:15I'm super happy.
00:45:17Super, super happy.
00:45:22It is a grand slam at Formula One's grand event.
00:45:27The win, pole position, the fastest lap.
00:45:31And he led every single one of the 78.
00:45:36He leads the World Championship by 66 points.
00:45:41And he was last last year.
00:45:43He's first to the flag this season.
00:45:47His second season.
00:45:48And turning in to a special season that will have a moment that every single driver dreams of.
00:45:53Yes, qualifying plays a huge part.
00:45:57But he's heading to the top step with these two.
00:45:58Yeah, just cutting the entry like we normally do every track at the end.
00:46:02And, yeah.
00:46:03It's because of your line and not the speed.
00:46:06Yeah.
00:46:07I know we were not told that.
00:46:12Never seen so many penalties.
00:46:14That's a lot of wins, buddy.
00:46:16Yeah.
00:46:17That's actually too many.
00:46:18Catch me up.
00:46:19Thanks, man.
00:46:21Catch me up, man.
00:46:27Massive.
00:46:32Yeah, that's the point.
00:46:34That's good.
00:46:35Well, you're like in the lead by...
00:46:37He left me in the...
00:46:39Yeah, he...
00:46:40I'm working so quick.
00:46:42The rear end you have?
00:46:43Yeah.
00:46:43It's great.
00:46:44Oh, my God.
00:46:45Oh, my God.
00:46:45Oh, my God.
00:46:45Oh, my God.
00:46:45Oh, my God.
00:46:49Yeah, we have no...
00:46:51Unluck.
00:46:51What happened to this guy?
00:46:53I think you know.
00:46:56Me and the tarmac in the last corner.
00:46:59When it was breaking up.
00:47:01I didn't know it was the tarmac breaking up.
00:47:03I thought it was like Dr. Flood Bill.
00:47:05No, no, no, I initially thought as well.
00:47:08But then I...
00:47:09I look at it properly.
00:47:12And it was...
00:47:13Yeah, yeah.
00:47:14Okay.
