00:00Have they been one of the biggest surprises? I know they wobbled last week. They got swept by the Tigers,
00:05but dude, this Shane McClanahan cab, he hasn't pitched in three years. He goes out there. He's throwing 98 heat.
00:13He's out there. He's like five and one heading into the weekend. I mean, can I get back? Because if
00:19they get that guy being back to the all-star pitcher, he was three years ago.
00:23They got to go 500 cab the rest of the way out, and they're going to win 90 ballgames. That's
00:29a playoff team for $87 million payroll in the American League East.
00:35It's so crazy. We're talking about the Dodgers to this. It's such an insane difference and such a cool thing
00:42to see. Shane McClanahan is one of the best pitchers in all of baseball if he can stay healthy.
00:48Obviously, the 98-mile-an-hour fastball is a thing of beauty, but the slider that he throws, man. If
00:53you're a left-handed hitter in the box, you don't have a chance.
00:55I mean, you're better off just closing your eyes and swinging and hoping you make contact. The way his slider
01:00moves across the plate is incredible to watch.
01:03The spin rate, everything about it is outstanding. It's funny because I was comparing Spencer Strider and McClanahan because when
01:10they both started in 2021,
01:12they both came into the league at the same time, both throwing 100, both new pitchers in 2021, mind you.
01:18I'm not talking about right now, obviously.
01:20They were so comparable, and now I feel like they're not. I feel like McClanahan, even though he's been out
01:27for three years,
01:27I feel like he has already shown us that he can be that elite pitcher that we thought he would
01:32be, that we thought he was going to be.
01:34And I'm not saying that Strider can't, but I think Strider, on the other hand, we're seeing some holes with
01:40his development.
01:41So it speaks, again, volumes to the Rays' development and everything that you started this conversation with.
