03:38So.
03:39So how did you.
03:41How did you spot record?
03:42Because I.
03:42I remember you mentioned something about.
03:45The interference.
03:46Okay.
03:47Yeah.
03:48Very much so.
03:49I mean.
03:49You know.
03:49They from my hometown.
03:51Staten Island.
03:52Staten Island.
03:52J.R. Swiss was good.
03:53Coach was good.
03:55Um.
03:58You know what I mean?
03:59They from Staten Island, man.
04:00So they like my heroes, man.
04:02You know what I'm saying?

04:05I'm Spider-Man and some shit like that, man.
04:07Yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:07You know?
04:08So.
04:09They put a battery in my back, man.
04:11To keep doing what I'm doing.
04:12To this day, man.
04:14Like.
04:14You know what I mean?
04:15Uh.
04:16What?
04:171992.
04:18It's kind of like when I started rhyming.
04:21That's.
04:21I'm.
04:21I'm kind of.
04:22I'm kind of.
04:23I'm kind of telling you my age.
04:24You know what I mean?
04:25But.
04:25Yeah, I've been doing it for a minute.
04:27I've been doing it for a minute.
04:28Word.
04:29Yeah, yeah.
04:30For sure.
04:31For sure.
04:31For sure.
04:32So.
04:32So.
04:33Um.
04:34What inspired the name Jamil?
04:37Well, Jamil is my middle name.
04:39You know what I'm saying?
04:40Yeah.
04:41Um.
04:41I had another name, man.
04:43But I was like, yo.
04:44So.
04:44I kind of.
04:45Wanted to.
04:46Be talking about some real shit.
04:49You know what I'm saying?
04:50Real.
04:51Situations.
04:53Real.
04:54Uh.
04:55Problems.
04:56Real.
04:56Whatever.
04:57You know what I mean?
04:58So I want.
04:58I wanted to.
04:59Have a name where.
05:01People could kind of relate to.
05:03You know what I'm saying?
05:04Um.
05:04So.
05:05Um.
05:06Jamil is my middle name.
05:07And then honesty comes from.
05:09My Hebrew name.
05:11Which is Yashah.
05:12That means honest.
05:13So.
05:14Yeah.
05:16Yeah.
05:16So I just put it together.
05:17And that's how it's been.
05:18You know what I mean?
05:19So it's like.
05:20You know.
05:21It's.
05:22It's really part of my government.
05:23You feel me?
05:25For sure.
05:26Right.
05:26Sure.
05:28For sure.
05:28For sure.
05:29So.
05:29Um.
05:30Because I saw the.
05:33The.
05:34The.
05:34The.
05:35The first.
05:35The first project you did.
05:37Was it the one.
05:38Was that the first project?
05:40Not.
05:41Well.
05:41That was the first project that I produced.
05:43Um.
05:44Yeah.
05:45I produced.
05:45For Sean Lynx.
05:47Um.
05:49Yeah.
05:49That was the first project that I fully produced by myself.
05:52Um.
05:53Um.
05:54Um.
05:54Entirely.
05:55My very first.
05:56First project.
05:58Um.
05:59Was done.
06:00With a.
06:01With a.
06:02Um.
06:02A French producer by the name of Cool FD.
06:06Um.
06:07And that album's called.
06:08Um.
06:09Part of my French.
06:10You know what I'm saying?
06:12He dropped that in 2014.
06:13That's like my juvenile hell.
06:15I don't even know why.
06:15I don't even know why I put that out there.
06:17Don't.
06:17Don't check that out.
06:18You know.
06:20But.
06:20Um.
06:21But.
06:21The joint that really got me.
06:24Um.
06:26Um.
06:26Kind of buzzing a little bit.
06:27Would be the.
06:28The Modern Music.
06:29Um.
06:30One.
06:31I got Modern Music.
06:32One.
06:33Modern Music.
06:33Two.
06:34Shout out to my man.
06:35The High of Goblin from out the UK.
06:37Um.
06:38Yeah.
06:38We dropped that in 2018.
06:40And.
06:41Um.
06:41You know.
06:43Things have kind of been rolling since then.
06:46For sure.
06:47For sure.
06:47For sure.
06:48And.
06:48Cause I saw.
06:49I mean.
06:50You also.
06:50Produced beats.
06:51Um.
06:52How is that like.
06:53Like also.
06:54I mean.
06:54Just being able to do beats for.
06:56For.
06:57For other MCs.
06:58Do you find it a bit challenging?
07:00Or.
07:00You said.
07:01Is it challenging?
07:03Yeah.
07:04Cause.
07:04I mean.
07:05Cause you're doing it for someone else.
07:06And then.
07:07You know.
07:08They probably have a different view from what they want.
07:11I'm sorry.
07:12Alright.
07:13Alright.
07:13Pose that question one more time.
07:15I didn't understand what you were saying.
07:16My bad.
07:17Yeah.
07:17I feel like.
07:18Um.
07:19You also mentioned that you produce beats.
07:22So like.
07:23Yeah.
07:23Like.
07:24How.
07:24How is that experience like.
07:25Um.
07:26Is it.
07:26Is it fun.
07:28Or.
07:28Is it challenging?
07:30Um.
07:30Nah.
07:31I.
07:31I.
07:32I actually love it man.
07:33I'm.
07:33I'm a type of person that I really don't like to be in the limelight anyway.
07:36You know.
07:36That's crazy.
07:37Cause.
07:38You know.
07:38I.
07:39I MC or whatever.
07:40But.
07:40So.
07:40I don't.
07:41I don't mind.
07:42You know.
07:42A lot of cats want to.
07:43You know.
07:44Be all in the videos.
07:47Or some.
07:48Or some.
07:48Or some.
07:49P. Diddy.
07:50You know what I mean.
07:50But.
07:51Nah.
07:51I mean.
07:52Not me man.
07:52I'm.
07:53I'm.
07:53I'm.
07:54I'm looking forward to do more.
08:00More projects.
08:01Um.
08:02Where I solely produce.
08:04You know what I mean.
08:05Of course.
08:06I love.
08:06I'm an MC first.
08:07I love.
08:08I love.
08:08You know.
08:09I love.
08:10You know.
08:10Moving my pin.
08:11You know what I'm saying.
08:12But.
08:13I.
08:13I.
08:13I.
08:14I love.
08:14I love.
08:15You know.
08:16Being behind the scenes.
08:18You know what I mean.
08:18Behind the boards.
08:19And doing all of that.
08:20With the.
08:21With the production.
08:22So yeah.
08:23It's fun.
08:23It's fun for me man.
08:25You know.
08:26It allows.
08:27It allows.
08:28It allows me.
08:29It allows me to be.
08:30And.
08:30You know.
08:31Move in different chambers.
08:32Like.
08:32You know.
08:33Where I.
08:34You know.
08:34I.
08:34I wouldn't see.
08:35Some.
08:36Some would say.
08:36I don't see.
08:37I don't see Jamil.
08:39You know.
08:39On that kind of vibe.
08:41Or whatever.
08:42You know what I mean.
08:43Right.
08:43Rhyming.
08:44But yeah.
08:44You know.
08:44I could take it there.
08:45With the production.
08:47You know what I mean.
08:48Like.
08:49I'm working my.
08:49I'm working with my man.
08:50Pure.
08:51You know what I'm saying.
08:52Pure.
08:53Me and him.
08:54You know.
08:54As far as.
08:55His print is crazy.
08:56But it's like.
08:57You know.
08:58He talk about shit.
08:59That I probably wouldn't talk about.
09:01In my.
09:02In my rhymes.
09:03Or whatever.
09:04But.
09:04You know.
09:05I could live.
09:07Vicariously.
09:08With him.
09:09Through the.
09:09Through the.
09:09Through the production.
09:11If that makes sense.
09:13Yeah.
09:14Yeah.
09:14For sure.
09:14For sure.
09:15So.
09:16So.
09:17Because.
09:17Because I saw you.
09:18You studied your own.
09:21Mecca Beats Entertainment.
09:22Or something like that.
09:23Yeah.
09:24Yeah.
09:24Yeah.
09:24So that's what I.
09:25That's how I started.
09:26That's what I started out with.
09:29Mecca Beats.
09:29Mecca Beats Entertainment.
09:31You know what I mean.
09:32And then I was like.
09:33And I.
09:34I kind of want to change.
09:36Um.
09:37You know.
09:37I wanted to change the name.
09:39Or whatever.
09:40You know.
09:40I mean.
09:41Cause.
09:41You know.
09:42The direction I wanted to go.
09:44Um.
09:45Musically.
09:45You know what I'm saying.
09:46Or.
09:47Yeah.
09:49So.
09:49So.
09:50So.
09:50If you had to choose between.
09:52Between.
09:53The rap.
09:53Rapping.
09:54Producing.
09:55Which one do you think.
09:56Would.
09:57Be comfortable for you the most.
09:59No.
09:59I mean.
10:00I'm comfortable with.
10:01With.
10:01With it all.
10:02I don't.
10:03You know.
10:03I like.
10:04Being able to.
10:05Move.
10:06In and out of those rooms.
10:08Man.
10:08You know what I'm saying.
10:09You know.
10:10Um.
10:10So.
10:11I mean.
10:12Like I said.
10:12I've been an MC.
10:13First.
10:14Yeah.
10:15I started.
10:15I started MCing.
10:16When I was like.
10:17A preteen.
10:18You know what I mean.
10:19I ain't started making beats.
10:20Until.
10:21I was like.
10:21You know.
10:22Well into my.
10:23Adulthood.
10:24You feel me.
10:25So.
10:25Um.
10:26But I.
10:27I love.
10:28I love doing both man.
10:29Uh.
10:30You know.
10:31Um.
10:32What I would say is.
10:34Eventually.
10:35Um.
10:35Real soon.
10:36I'm gonna start.
10:37Producing.
10:38My own joints.
10:39You know what I mean.
10:40That's next.
10:41Yeah.
10:42Yeah.
10:43Shout out to everybody that showed up in the room.
10:46You know what I mean.
10:49I know.
10:57I think.
11:01So.
11:04I mean.
11:06How do you do it?
11:07I mean.
11:07Because.
11:08You also have.
11:10P-tips.
11:10Like.
11:11It's just.
11:11Instrumentals.
11:12So.
11:12Like.
11:13How do you know.
11:13Like.
11:14This.
11:14This.
11:15Just be.
11:16Just.
11:16Instrumentals.
11:16instrumentals or you know don't you have like that temptation like uh maybe i should have
11:22rapped on this one or whatever um you mean tempted to rap on my own beats yeah like how do
11:30you because
11:30like i because like i saw like you also have like like big tapes like only like it's just
11:36instrumentals and then you also have like oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah so like how do you know like
11:43okay this is just suitable for just being a good tape or anything like that don't you ever like
11:48have a moment be like oh man maybe i should have rapped on that one no i never really thought
11:53about that because i i feel like i feel like this i mean just because it's on an instrumental tape
11:58that doesn't mean i can't use it for a song you know i mean i always looked at it like
12:04um it's just another chamber man you know just another another one of those rooms i was talking
12:10about you know that i could go in um you know where i i drop an instrumental tape and then
12:16you
12:17know turn around and drop a a record where i'm spitting you know i'm saying um you know i i
12:24even
12:24thought about you know dropping an instrumental tape for bolo young you know i'm saying so now i never
12:30thought i never think about it like that man if i if it's something that i want to rhyme over
12:33i just rhyme over it it's it's simple you know what i mean for sure for sure for sure for
12:41sure
12:41because um also you know i mean like i saw i saw your because the first time i think the
12:48first time
12:48i heard you was with the track you did with uh key turner because i i i interviewed her last
12:55year
13:06so um usually like um how does your recording process go in like um you featuring artists
13:16um you know um a lot of a lot of times what i do if i want to work with
13:20an artist i mean i've been a
13:21fan of um key turner for a long time man since like the early 2000s um you know i would
13:29see her
13:29up here and be more so she would work um with with some of the artists um up here so
13:35i always wanted
13:36to work with her um but i mean my thing is like if i want to work with somebody i
13:40just set them up
13:41directly you know um and that's it either you know it's it's either a yay or nay you know i
13:51mean
13:51either they want to work or they don't want to work um you know sometimes you know the business
13:57has worked out where i may pay some sometimes it might be a bartering system or whatever but
14:03nah i usually keep it real simple man i hit people up you know let them know what my intentions
14:10are in terms of working and it's either we we we work or we don't shit for sure for sure
14:17for sure
14:18because i also saw you earlier your check uh two checks that you did with k-roll are those like
14:24recent checks or um yeah i mean you know um me and me and jay you know i have a
14:32uh you know that's
14:33my man you know i'm saying we've been working for a minute you know we got it uh you know
14:39uh
14:39uh we've been working for years you know i'm saying so um what track are you talking about
14:46i mean we got a few joints um i know he was on the track he was on uh my
14:50uh the modern music one
14:52album uh scribes we did bullies we did yeah we did a few joints i saw i saw the music
15:00video for it
15:00i think he i think he was the one he was he was rapping he was doing the first verse
15:04on the song
15:05i forgot the name of the song but i i think i checked it out like this week okay so
15:11that might be
15:11bullies um if it's bullies that's um myself um jay and then pure is on that record that's produced
15:21by prospect prospect actually i think he's from south africa if i'm not mistaking
15:26oh okay yeah shout out the prospect shout out prospect um so so because i because i saw like
15:35on the net it's mostly um modern music one and modern music two that people are are working with
15:43the most um how is that how is that production process like writing those albums um writing the
15:52albums were pretty easy man um and then you know because the production was so like you know so so
16:01much on a high level top notch you know i mean shout out to hobgoblin um so it was pretty
16:06easy we got
16:07those records done pretty quick um and my workload was a lot lighter than it is now um but yeah
16:16i was i
16:17you know i was able to knock knock those joints out pretty quick you know i'm saying but yeah me
16:22and
16:22me and hob got a real real good working chemistry man um that's my dude man and you know we
16:29we're
16:29actually in the process of working on um modern music three so oh yeah that's coming you know yeah
16:36that's coming up yeah so you know 23 should be 23 should be interesting man you know i'm gonna be
16:43dropping up a couple records you know uh i'm gonna be dropping a little bit more than i have
16:49in the past you know few years so you know be on the lookout man i got i got joints
16:56with uh
16:57danny kayazi yo i got joints with jr swifts it's a lot it's a lot going on machacha you know
17:04what i mean
17:04yeah wow that's amazing so do you have any events that's that's coming up for your friends at home
17:18um yeah yeah i'm i'm actually going to be performing at the sidebar in baltimore that's um june 11th
17:27um at the sidebar yeah you know what i'm saying so i'll be i'll be posting uh
17:33you know the address and all that kind of stuff and the details on that so yeah but that's the
17:40next joint but as far as content wise you know we got my man stacks 410 he dropping cinco de
17:49mayo
17:50i got the god's honest truth that's dropping uh 529 um that's with myself and crazy fingers so you know
18:00um both joints i'm involved with heavily you know stacks is an incredible artist um you know like i
18:08said i produced the whole project with that um working alongside with coach coach executive
18:14produced that coach to god salute to him um and on the flip side me and crazy finger fingers been
18:22working on this project um for for some years now so it's real special kind of kind of joint man
18:30and you know a little different than what i normally um put out you know what i mean so it's
18:36going to
18:36be interesting to get the feedback but yes that's going to be dropping uh later on this month to god's
18:42show five 29. wow that's amazing that's amazing that's amazing um so so so so by the way i wanted
18:53to ask you so you
18:55you you you you're now in baltimore currently right how is that like like looking from from
19:01stent island to stent island to what was the was the in terms of music was the expectation different
19:12um it's kind of crazy you said that i mean
19:16i think now now it's it's it's a little it's a little crazy i mean when i moved here
19:25um i kind of found found my tribe so to speak and um you know um i i met a
19:34lot of dope emcees a lot of
19:36dope producers and i um you know we just kept in contact you know um but now i don't i
19:42don't i don't
19:43know i don't i don't i don't trip over that like you know people always say man it's hard to
19:47find good
19:47music um i i never i never was uh one to be like you know complaining about that i always
19:56i always
19:57look for it and find it you know i mean good music has always been around bad music has always
20:02been
20:02around you know what i'm saying it's just that you gotta be you can't just be lazy back in the
20:06day
20:08um we were kind of spoon fed with you know through the radio it just so happened that a lot
20:13of good
20:14shit was coming out back then but now you know you got to look a little bit you know what
20:18i mean
20:18so um you know of course they got the trap stuff going on here and um i can't think of
20:28the other
20:28genre but you know they got all the stuff that that's going on everywhere you know i mean but how
20:34i
20:35look at it is it's balanced man you know good music is good music whether it's trap whether it's
20:40folklore whether it's country you know good music is good music um in fact i've heard a lot of
20:48whack boom bat more so than i've heard um you know trap music you know to be honest with you
20:53you know what i mean good music is good music that's just it that's how i look at it
20:58for sure for sure for sure for sure well so do you also plan on switching on other stars
21:07what you mean like what trap music or something yeah no no no no no no i'm staying in my
21:14lane i'm
21:15just saying i'm not hating on it and it's you know i my my palette as far as music music
21:22is is pretty
21:22diverse man like you know i mean if if i like it i like it if i don't i don't
21:28but i'm not i'm not one
21:30that's just stuck in in um in an era or in terms of listening i make what i make you
21:39know what i'm
21:39saying but i listen to different stuff man you know what i mean yeah yeah i mean like any
21:46they like any specific producers or musicians that you're currently listening to that that you feel
21:54like you know what i'm currently listening to yeah i mean honestly i've been i've been listening
22:03to a lot of jr swifts because we try to get this record done i've been listening to that um
22:11i don't know man uh i mean you know i i don't know man like i i'm all over the
22:21place man i mean
22:22my man my man sub substance 810 he just he just dropped the record with loretta the live share you
22:30know what i'm saying um i've been bumping that um you see dead poets um with ito and um with
22:41future
22:41wave i like that um that new joint with black thought i'm rocking with that you know what i'm saying
22:47um yeah yeah but other than that i really i've been trying to train myself because i'm a fan you
22:54know i mean i'm definitely a fan first but i've been trying to train myself not to be so engulfed
23:02in
23:02and listening to other people you know i mean so that i can get my done you know what i
23:07mean um
23:09no slight against them but yeah you know got some dope we got some we got some dope producers in
23:16here
23:16now though mighty healthy you know what i'm saying dope yeah mighty healthy check out my uh mighty cannons
23:23you know what i'm saying yeah yeah but um yeah man for sure so what is it like like because
23:32like with
23:33you guys um with the bump up there right you guys are very uh um like when it comes to
23:40consistency you
23:41guys are good at that what what do you think um what what what is that you think that the
23:47the young
23:47musicians of today are probably missing because you know like they'll drop one album but then you know
23:55it's not it's not it's no longer um relevant to another thing i don't know man you know i sometimes
24:04i
24:04feel like i fall i kind of fall in that category because for a minute you know i i really
24:09had a um
24:11a very antiquated way of thinking in terms of how often i wanted to drop but i noticed that my
24:18contemporaries
24:19um tend to you know they drop in six seven joints and you know i mean the shit is the
24:26quality of the
24:27music um you know some of them is is not dwindling um so i know i kind of changed my
24:35my point of view
24:37um when it comes to me dropping one one album you know uh every year or twice you know every
24:46two years
24:47and shit like that um because it's different you know i mean like people um people consume music
24:53differently now it ain't it ain't the same as it was you know back in the day for sure for
25:02sure yeah
25:02do you think it could be um corporate institutions that are responsible for that or it's just people
25:14um oh it's just i don't know i'm not sure i'm i don't really get to i just it's the
25:18way of the
25:18world man you know back in the day um you know everything is just kind of like microwave you know
25:25what i'm saying so it's like back in the day you could sit on an album for two two years
25:30and be
25:30all right you know what i mean um i i felt i feel like the downfall of that though is
25:35you know
25:37people really don't get time to sit down with the music which can cause people not to really want to
25:45put too much into um um their work so to speak to make it us you know something that people
25:53can sit
25:53back and really listen to because it's like once that album comes out the next week it's like
26:00they want something else you know i mean and if you're lucky you might get two weeks but
26:06i i i still i'm stubborn with that man i'm still like you know fuck that man you know i'm
26:13not going
26:13to just put out for me i'm not just going to put out music because i want to keep up
26:19with the joneses
26:20you know what i'm saying that's just i don't know you know that might be my downfall that might be
26:28something that has set me apart from everybody else i'm not sure but all i know is like the
26:34people that i looked up to and the people that i admire you know they always did things um
26:42by their rules you know what i'm saying i mean you know it's always rules that you got to follow
26:46and
26:46shit like that but you know they they moved to their you know to the to the beat of their
26:50own drum
26:51and they were them they were themselves unapologetically you know what i'm saying so
26:57um i don't know man i you know i'm really um when it comes to my art man i'm i'm
27:04really um
27:06dead set on making sure that i put out um what i feel is is is my is my best
27:13work so
27:15that may take a little time you know i mean i get into it i get into it with a
27:19lot of my team
27:20members because of that but you know i'm just i'm just me i'm stuck with me like that so it
27:27is what it
27:27is for sure um speaking of you being able like to to to to take your own time um what
27:37would be your
27:38advice for other artists and being able to handle the pressure handle the pressure oh yeah
27:49um i say pressure creates diamonds you know what i'm saying so take that pressure and and use it as
28:00uh as gasoline to keep keep doing with you know doing what you do um consistency
28:08see is key you know what i mean um
28:15and believe in yourself man like all that people you know people going to tell you what you are
28:25no you got to believe who you know you got to believe in yourself you know what i'm saying
28:30more so you got to be your biggest supporter
28:34because ain't nobody gonna support you more than you you know what i mean so you got to root for
28:40yourself you got to believe in yourself and everybody you know what's crazy everybody's not
28:45gonna believe in your vision and that's crazy like if you look at if you look at a lot of
28:50the greats you
28:51know what i'm saying when when when marvin presented um what's going on his album to to uh barry gaudy
29:01you know what i'm saying he kind of problems like nah that's not gonna work you know kind of left
29:06him
29:06out the room so to speak yeah but we know now you know that's that's a historical classic classic album
29:13you know what i'm saying yeah so you got to believe in your shit you got to believe in your
29:19shit for sure for sure for sure sure well come here man um i appreciate you with that being with
29:27that being with that being said the god's honest truth is dropping 529 23. that being said the god's
