00:00Bugger, bugger, bugger. I'm not going to get to join the Orange Army this year. I don't need this jacket
00:09and everything else they gave me after I registered to become a marshal and I'm really, really, really disappointed.
00:16But the statement has just come through from the Ironman TT races confirming no further racing will take place at
00:27the 2026 event. It's following consultation between the clerk, of course, and the Ironman Met Office. And it is pretty
00:36grim out there.
00:38Now, I know social media will be alive with comments, criticising the organisers, challenging the decision. But I personally think
00:52that Gary Thompson, clerk of the course, has had a very difficult time.
00:57It is a fact that this has probably been the most challenging TT in living memory. A whole combination of
01:08things, and particularly the bad weather, has made it very, very difficult. And Gary has to make the call.
01:15And I just want to say one thing, and I know this will upset some people, but do I care?
01:22Every year, this event attracts negative comment. There are those people who would like it ended, removed. They don't think
01:32it fits in the modern age of health and safety.
01:34Well, to those people, whatever. Well, to those people, I would say, I respect your opinion, if it's based on
01:42personal experience. If you come here, if you experience this astonishing motorsport spectacle, which is all about people, people, people,
01:56people, you might just change your opinion and realise the true significance of the
02:04Isle of Man TT. In all our lives, liberty, personal choice, freedom, and the F word. Fun. See you next
02:21year. I might get to wear that thing.
