01:38Hello, Penny.
01:39Hello, Miss Hooley.
01:41So what's the story in BALAMORI?
01:43Well, today it's our sunny day.
01:44Oh, good. So it'll feel nice and warm then.
01:47I'll just pop the sun on the chart.
01:53See you later then.
01:54See ya.
01:58Hello.
01:59Who are you?
02:01Yes, of course.
02:03Well, today it's a play day in BALAMORI.
02:07Oh, look.
02:10Someone seems to have forgotten their scarf.
02:14Wait a minute.
02:15This isn't a scarf.
02:17It's a flag.
02:18There's one just like it flying from the flagpole at Archie's house.
02:23This isn't Archie's, though.
02:25His is pink and this is yellow.
02:28I wonder who it belongs to.
02:34Anyway, what's the story in BALAMORI today?
02:39Everyone's at home today.
02:41What do you like to do?
02:44Do you like to roller skate?
02:46Or go to the swimming pool?
02:49I like to sit here watching.
02:51Watching everyone.
02:54Choosing what to do today
02:56And joining in the fun.
03:03Everyone's at home today.
03:05You could have some friends to tea.
03:07Football in the garden.
03:10Or a visit to the sea.
03:12You could help around the house.
03:15Or maybe wash the car.
03:18Splashing water everywhere.
03:20Have fun wherever you are.
03:23Whatever it is you like to do.
03:26Have fun wherever you are.
03:34What?
03:35What?
03:36What's that?
03:37What's that?
03:39What's that?
03:41Can I hear someone of them?
03:55Hi, Penny.
03:56Hello, Spencer.
04:02Morning, Miss Hilly.
04:03Hi, Spencer. What are you up to today?
04:06Oh, we're going to have a great day.
04:08I promised to take some of the children to the beach.
04:10Oh, what will you do on the beach?
04:12Which? Build sandcastles.
04:15Oh, lovely.
04:16Well, you have a nice sunny day for it.
04:18Yes, indeedy. Sun, sea, sand.
04:21What more do we need to build sandcastles?
04:23A bucket and spade, perhaps?
04:25A bucket and spade.
04:30I knew I'd forgotten something.
04:32What am I going to do?
04:33I know. I'll be right back. See you in the gym.
04:37I wonder where he's gone running off to.
04:41Which colour house do you think he'll be visiting?
04:53Can you see all the different coloured houses sitting by the sea?
04:59Well, there's part of the story in Balamore.
05:02He asks, which is the house for me?
05:05Is it green? Is it red?
05:08Or should I go to the White House instead?
05:10Yellow, pink, orange or blue?
05:13Which coloured house am I going to?
05:16Green house?
05:18Red house?
05:19Orange or pink?
05:22Yellow house?
05:23Blue or white?
05:25Tell me what do you think?
05:33Which coloured house are we going to?
05:36Tell me what you think?
05:39Which coloured house are we going to?
05:42Tell me what do you think?
05:46Orange!
05:49It's the orange house.
05:50Because that's what I live.
05:55Bucket and spade.
05:57Bucket and spade.
05:58Gotta find my bucket and spade.
06:00Ha!
06:00I bet it's cleared away with everything else inside my junk box.
06:05Hmm.
06:08No.
06:09No!
06:11Ha ha!
06:13Yeah, you are.
06:15Okay.
06:21Got it!
06:23Hmm.
06:26Oh.
06:28I must remember never to mix paint inside my sandcastle bucket
06:32because the paint makes the spade stick to the bucket.
06:37Oh, I know.
06:38I'll buy a new bucket and spade from Penny and Susie.
06:41Yeah!
06:42Brilliant!
07:02Whatever's the matter, Spencer?
07:04The poor lads are wheezy, Penny.
07:07Just take it easy, Spencer.
07:08Big breaths.
07:09In.
07:10Out.
07:12In.
07:13And out.
07:15Out.
07:16And out.
07:18Bucket and spade.
07:21Bucket and spade.
07:22No.
07:23In and out.
07:24Not bucket and spade.
07:26No.
07:27I want a bucket and spade.
07:30You ought to calm down and catch your breath, if you ask me.
07:33No.
07:34You see, I promised to take some of the children to the beach to build sandcastles,
07:38but I need a bucket and spade.
07:41Oh, I'm sure I've got one left somewhere, haven't we, Susie?
07:44Great.
07:45I'll buy it.
07:46I'm afraid you won't.
07:47But I've got money.
07:48Look!
07:49If it's got the right money, surely we can sell Spencer a bucket and spade.
07:53I would if I could, Penny, but I'm afraid I sold the last ones yesterday.
07:58Oh, no!
08:00What am I going to do now?
08:09How about using this instead of a bucket?
08:14A flower pot?
08:15Isn't there a hole in the bottom of a flower pot?
08:20Oh, you mean this hole?
08:24Yeah, I'm afraid the sand would just trickle out.
08:28You can't make a proper sandcastle with that.
08:32How about using a dustbin?
08:34Oh!
08:35That doesn't have a hole in the bottom.
08:37Yes.
08:41No, that would take forever to fill up with sand.
08:45And it'd be too heavy to turn over.
08:48I just have to face it.
08:50I'm not going to be able to build sandcastles with Callum today.
08:53Oh, but he'd be disappointed.
08:55What am I going to do?
08:57Let's think.
08:58Who would know how to build sandcastles without using a bucket and spade?
09:04Who is good at coming up with bright ideas?
09:09Archie!
09:10That's just what I'll do.
09:12I'll call on Archie right away.
09:14See ya.
09:15Bye.
09:20I'm Archie, the inventor.
09:23I know how things are done.
09:26I can make absolutely anything.
09:29Inventing things is fun.
09:31I'm always on the lookout.
09:34The things that I might use.
09:37Collecting odds and ends from all of my friends.
09:39To make a little treat for you.
09:47Take a box and some yoghurt pop tops.
09:50Hey, it's a car.
09:53Inventing with Archie is never a bore.
09:55Come on, let's make some more.
09:58Build a rocket from a squidgy bottle.
10:01And stick on bits of junk.
10:02Here's a crazy clip-cloth puppet.
10:06Dance and do the honky-tonk.
10:13I'm Archie, the inventor.
10:16I know how things are done.
10:19I can make absolutely anything.
10:22Inventing things is fun.
10:24I'm always on the lookout.
10:27For things that I might use.
10:30Collecting odds and ends from all of my friends.
10:33To make a little treat for you.
11:03If you need something made and don't know what to do.
11:06What's the story in Balamore?
11:09Well, I promised to take my nephew Callum to the beach because it's a lovely sunny day.
11:14Only when I arrived at the cafe, I realized that I had forgotten the bucket and spade.
11:21I went home to fetch them, only to find I had accidentally glued them together with paint.
11:30My next stop was the shop.
11:32I went there to buy a new bucket and spade.
11:34But Penny and Susie had sold out of them.
11:39That's when we put our thinking caps on and thought that you might be able to build a sandcastle without
11:44a bucket or spade.
11:46Indeed I can.
11:47Now, let me think.
11:49What could we use for a bucket?
11:51Oh, we could use a yogurt pot.
11:55Or even a jelly melt.
11:57Wow, those will make great buckets, but what about the spade?
12:01Spade, right, let me think.
12:04Oh, this.
12:07A milk carton?
12:08Perfect.
12:10But you won't be able to get the sand out of the tiny hole.
12:13That is precisely why we would do this.
12:20You see?
12:21Oh, that'll make a great spade.
12:24And the pots will make great buckets.
12:27Thanks, Archie.
12:28That's all right.
12:29Oh, but remember, a sandcastle isn't really finished unless it's got a flag flying from its tower,
12:33like the one that flies from my tower.
12:35Where do I get that from?
12:36Oh, it's simple.
12:37You can make it.
12:38Now, first you need someone to colour in lots of pieces of paper in bright colours.
12:42Ha!
12:42I know just the person for the job.
12:44And then you get somebody else to glue the paper flags to the drinking straw flagpole.
12:50Brilliant idea, Archie.
12:51I know where to get lots and lots of drinking straws.
12:54Thanks, Archie.
12:55Thanks, Archie.
13:03Now I'll put that straw in there.
13:05Let's see.
13:06The children have gone quiet all of a sudden.
13:09It's okay.
13:10It's really, really simple.
13:11You just take your drinking straw there, like so, and down the middle.
13:17Well, I wonder what they're doing.
13:19Making flags, Miss Hooley.
13:21Flags?
13:23For sandcastles.
13:25They are so easy to make.
13:27You take your coloured paper flag.
13:30You get a lot of glue on there, which is lots of fun to do.
13:34And then you take your drinking straw.
13:37And look there.
13:39Ah.
13:39You've got a flag.
13:41Cool, huh?
13:42There you go.
13:43Thank you, Spencer.
13:44Oh, talking of flags.
13:46Sorry.
13:47Gotta go.
13:48It's a lovely sunny day, and there's sandcastles to build.
13:52Okay, guys.
13:53Grab those flags.
13:54Let's go.
13:54Build sandcastles.
13:55Come on.
13:55You ready to go?
13:56Come on.
13:57Let's go.
14:09Okay, guys.
14:10Last one to sit down is...
14:13Squashed tomato.
14:19You beat me again.
14:21Okay, guys.
14:22Let's see if we can make some really cool sandcastles from Archie's Inventions.
14:28Okay?
14:28Here you go.
14:30There you go.
14:31So let's get a whole bunch of dirt right here.
14:33Yeah.
14:34Oh, there you go.
14:35There you go.
14:36Dump it here on the mound here.
14:39We need to build a big, big sandcastle.
14:42A very cool one.
14:47All right.
14:48Pile it on, sir.
14:51All right.
14:54We can build a sandcastle without a bucket and spade.
14:57Great idea, Archie.
14:59How cool.
15:05Oh, yeah.
15:06Oh, you know what they can do with this one too.
15:07Watch this.
15:09Watch this.
15:12That's a great sandcastle.
15:13Okay.
15:14We need some seashells for our castle.
15:17You know, to decorate it.
15:18Who wants to go help me find some seashells?
15:19I'm going to eat one.
15:20Great.
15:21I bet there's some more out here.
15:22Let's go find some.
15:22Come on, guys.
15:23Let's go find some seashells.
15:28Hey, you can photo.
15:29Whoa.
15:30These are nice.
15:33All right.
15:35Seashells.
15:35Well, there's one.
15:37Another one.
15:39Wow.
15:39That's really good.
15:41That's a pretty one.
15:44Look what I found.
15:46Our castle's going to look so great.
15:48Let's go put our seashells on the castle.
15:50Come on, guys.
15:51You guys can help decorate.
15:52There you go.
15:54Now, let's decorate that castle.
16:02Wow.
16:04That looks great.
16:08Ooh.
16:08Where should you put that one?
16:15We've got the best sandcastle ever.
16:16And just to top it off, it needs some flags.
16:20Let's decorate the castle.
16:22I've found another one.
16:24Thanks, Don.
16:25Oh, another one.
16:27All thanks to Archie and Miss Hooley.
16:29We've got a great sandcastle.
16:37What another funny sunny day in Balamori.
16:40And what a lot's gone on.
16:44Spencer promised to take some of the children to the beach.
16:47But he didn't have a bucket and spade.
16:50Poor Spencer couldn't find or buy one anywhere.
16:53So he went to see Archie.
16:55If anyone could dream up a way to build a sandcastle without a bucket and spade, Archie could.
17:01And he did.
17:02He used a plastic milk carton cut up to make a spade to dig the sand.
17:09And jelly moulds, cartons and cups to use as buckets.
17:13Then Spencer got the children to help him make tiny flags for the castle from coloured paper and drinking straws.
17:19The flags look great, don't they?
17:22But not as great as the yoghurt pot sandcastles.
17:29I wonder if this flag will ever flutter above a castle one day.
17:33You never know.
17:35So, that was the story in Balamori.
17:39Bye.
17:40Bye.
17:42Bye.
17:58What's the story in Balamori?
18:00What would you like to know?
18:02What's the story in Balamori?
18:04What would you like to know?
18:13Balamori.
18:17What's the story in Balamori?
18:33Tell us where people go.
