00:00It's not a death sentence, and why I'm still confident in the New York Yankees, and why
00:03this is different than the last time we saw a judge go out for an extended period of time.
00:07Was that 2019?
00:082023.
00:0923?
00:09Oh, yeah.
00:102019, he was gone for a long time, and they ended up going 20 games over 500, and ended
00:16up winning 103 games without him.
00:18And I think this roster is a hell of a lot closer to that roster.
00:21Because of the pitching staff, right?
00:22Because of the pitching staff, and not the lineup.
00:24You go back to 23 when he broke his toe out in Dodger Stadium.
00:27That's when he kicked that cement, right?
00:28When he kicked the cement.
00:30And they went eight games under 500 from that point on, until he came back.
00:33And it wasn't enough, and they ended up missing the postseason.
00:36That roster had guys like Willie Calhoun hitting cleanup.
00:39That roster had Jake Bowers.
00:41That roster had Billy McKinney.
00:45Like, that roster was awful.
00:48Franchi Cordero.
00:49Like, that roster stunk to the point where, believe it or not, I called for Brian Cashman's
00:54job at the end of that season because I thought the lineup was putrid, and I thought the roster
00:58was poorly built.
01:00This roster is far better.
01:02You've got Bellinger, who's a legitimate player.
01:05You've got Ben Rice, who's emerged as not just an everyday player, not just as someone
01:09who can also hit lefties.
01:10He's an MVP candidate.
01:11He's got the second best OPS in baseball.
01:13So, like, Jazz Chisholm was a 30-30 guy last year.
01:18He's been disappointing so far, but that's a legitimate player.
01:21You can go around the American League, go find second basemen who are better than Jazz.
