Bryan Broaddus was in attendance for Cowboys OTAs on Thursday at The Star in Frisco, and had lots of nuggets to share with the rest of the GBAG Nation. Broaddus tells the guys what he saw from Caleb Downs, Caelen Carson, Devin Moore and Ryan Flournoy. Plus, Broaddus got a positive report on Jaydon Blue.

03:50I did not see him for the Rams play much inside at all last year when I was watching his
03:57tape.
03:59This time around, when they went to seven on seven, he was playing in the slot.
04:04So when they went to the, when they were down in the goal line, red zone area, he was playing
04:09as a outside player.
04:11And then when they went to the field work, he was playing inside in the slot.
04:16And that's something I hadn't seen him do before.
04:18So you think they would like to see if he's interchangeable?
04:22Yeah, I think so.
04:23Him and Downs, Downs was playing like the slot.
04:27And there were times where Downs was covering the tight end, and then Downs was covering
04:31the receiver the other time.
04:33And just blanket coverage.
04:34Well, he was, I'll tell you the thing.
04:36I'll just tell you what's interesting about Downs.

05:19He doesn't, they were working on a drill on the goal line and what they were asking to
05:25do is they were doing these routes where it was, where the receiver tries to like start
05:32one way and then return and then, you know, go kind of a back and forth.
05:35Like you have to mirror the, uh, my man's got some quick feet.
05:40I mean, he is, and he, and he knows how to stay in position.
05:43Like when the receivers were moving along the back line, he was right in step with them.
05:50And then, and then the receiver tried to adjust on him and he just put his foot in the ground
05:55and went right back with him.
05:57So it's almost like they were tethered together.
06:00That's how he was, that's how he was moving.
06:02But I didn't realize, I was like, he was working against.
06:05He was working, they were working, they were doing drills, they were doing drills, but
06:09they were, they were making the receivers, you know, you had to run like, so he was doing
06:14that consistently.
06:15He was like, the guys were like, you know, they were trying to, they were trying to get
06:19away from him and they couldn't get away.

06:22He's just the way that he was playing.
06:23You know, the only thing I wonder is if, if, if you could play corner, why wouldn't you?

10:21I think you'd like Flannoy to be a technician, be a possession guy.
10:24But I, you know, I think to what we were just saying about Christian Watson, these teams
10:27are obsessed with a, with a guy who can run in the four threes to get down the field,
10:31love of the game routes.

10:33The, uh, uh, I'll tell you what, another guy that, that got some work was, uh, like
10:39I mentioned, Kaelin Carson.

10:41And Kaelin Carson, there was one time where, uh, they were trying to throw the ball.
10:45Dak was trying to throw the ball inside.
10:48And this is where Scantling, I didn't know the Scantling's number was 11.

10:52But this was the one pass that, that he, that I saw was Scantling, that the ball was behind
10:58him and he tried to adjust and he didn't make the catch.

11:06Well, Shottie did point out like unprovoked Kaelin Carson's name as a guy that's been in
11:11the facility, has really impressed him.
11:13So maybe Kaelin Carson, finally year three, it's clicking for him.

11:36You would think somebody that tall would have trouble moving.

11:39But he has a real nice feel for this thing.
11:42So we'll see.
11:44With all the corners they got, Julius Wood actually made a play at safety that I saw.
11:50And that was kind of what it is.
11:52But what I was really surprised was Durant playing as a nickel player in the slot.
11:57I had not seen him do that with the Rams.
12:00And so the Cowboys are going to try.
12:02And maybe this is where, maybe that's him and Downs are going to be the interchangeable slot players.

12:09Yeah, it looked like they felt like he was a decent option early in his career.
12:13But last year they almost stopped entirely.
