00:01I just want to feel human again.
00:05You know, sometimes you reach a point where you don't even know how to explain what is wrong.
00:12It's not one clean problem, you know what I mean?
00:15It's not something you can wrap up in one sentence.
00:19It's not always depression, and it's not always anxiety.
00:23It's not always grief, because sometimes it's just this strange, quiet feeling that you're still alive, still moving, still doing
00:36what has to be done.
00:37But somewhere inside, you just don't feel like yourself anymore.
00:42And if you're honest, what you really want to say is, I just want to feel human again.
00:51Not perfect.
00:53I don't need to be rich or famous or admired by everybody.
00:58I don't need to be untouched by problems.
01:02Just human.
01:04You know, you want to wake up and feel like the day has some light in it.
01:09You want to laugh and not feel like you're pretending.
01:13You want to have a normal conversation without feeling like half of you is somewhere else.
01:21You want to pray and feel like your words are not just bouncing off the ceiling.
01:26You want to look in the mirror and not wonder where the old you went.
01:32And you know what?
01:34That's a hard place to live.
01:37And I've lived there a lot of the time.
01:40And one of the reasons it's so hard, I think, is because most people cannot see it.
01:47They see you doing what you do.
01:49They see you showing up every day.
01:52They see you answering messages, going to work, taking care of things, handling your responsibilities,
02:00smiling when you need to smile.
02:02Now, so everybody else thinks you're fine.
02:06But inside, you know the truth.
02:10So do I.
02:12You're tired in a way that sleep does not always fix.
02:16You're carrying pressure in places you don't even know how to talk about.
02:22You're trying to keep moving.
02:24But some part of you is whispering,
02:27Lord, I do not feel like me anymore.
02:31And I want to tell you something right here.
02:34That is not a fake prayer.
02:36It's not a weak prayer.
02:38That may be one of the most honest prayers you have prayed in a very long time.
02:46God, I just want to feel human again.
02:50You can bring that to him.
02:53You don't have to dress it up.
02:55You don't have to make it sound religious.
02:57You don't have to pretend you're stronger than you are.
03:01God is not sitting there waiting for you to perform some polished version of faith before he listens.
03:09He already knows.
03:11He knows when your mind is tired.
03:14He knows when your heart feels dull.
03:18He knows when you're worn down from carrying too much for too darn long.
03:24And he knows when you've been trying to act normal around people because you don't want to explain something.
03:30You barely understand yourself.
03:33And Jesus, oh, thank gosh, Jesus is not disgusted by that.
03:41And that matters.
03:43Because sometimes when we feel low, we start thinking God must be disappointed in us in some way.
03:50We think, I should be stronger than this.
03:54I should have more faith than this.
03:57I should be past this by now.
04:00But Jesus never treated hurting people like they were an inconvenience.
04:06He stopped for them.
04:08He looked at them.
04:10He listened.
04:11He touched people other people avoided.
04:14He saw the person underneath the pain.
04:20And maybe that's what you need today.
04:23I know it's what I need.
04:26Not a big speech.
04:27Not someone yelling at you to get it together.
04:31Maybe you just need a reminder that Jesus still sees the person underneath the heaviness.
04:38He sees you.
04:41He sees you.
04:42Not just what you produce.
04:44Not just what you've failed to do.
04:47Not just the version of you that everyone else expects.
04:51He sees the real you.
04:54The tired you.
04:56The quiet you.
04:59The you that is just trying to hold on.
05:04And he's not finished with you yet.
05:07Oh no, your story goes on.
05:09You see, when you say, I just want to feel human again, you're saying something very deep.
05:16What you're saying is, I want to feel alive again.
05:21I want to care again.
05:23I want to breathe again.
05:26I want to stop feeling like I am only surviving.
05:31And you know what?
05:33That is not selfish.
05:35It's not wrong.
05:36Because God made you human.
05:38He did not make you to be a machine.
05:43He made you with a heart.
05:45He made you with limits.
05:48He made you with the need for rest.
05:52He made you to need love.
05:55He made you to need mercy.
05:58He made you to need his presence.
06:03And somewhere along the way, life can make you feel guilty for having needs.
06:10Pressure tells you to keep going.
06:12People just tell you to be strong.
06:15Bills do not care how tired you are.
06:18And responsibilities do not pause just because your soul feels worn down.
06:25So, you keep pushing.
06:28But the problem is, if you keep pushing long enough without caring for yourself, without truth, without rest, without bringing
06:39your real self to God,
06:41you can start to feel less like a person and more like a function.
06:47You become the one who handles everything, the one who provides, the one who responds, the one who keeps the
06:56peace, the one who absorbs the stress.
07:02The one who stays quiet so nobody else has to be uncomfortable.
07:08But deep inside, you need to remember that you are still a person.
07:15You are still someone God made.
07:18You're still someone Jesus loves.
07:21And you are still allowed to come to Him tired.
07:26This is the line that I want you to hold on to today.
07:31You are still human when you are hurting.
07:35And you are still loved when you are tired.
07:41Please do not let shame take that from you.
07:44Shame will tell you that you should hide until you are better.
07:48Shame will tell you that you cannot pray honestly until you feel more spiritual.
07:54Shame will tell you that God only wants the cleaned up version of you.
07:58But Jesus, Jesus says,
08:03Come to me, all who are weary and burdened.
08:06That means weary people are invited, you see.
08:11Burdened people, well, they're invited too.
08:14People who do not have the words yet, they're invited.
08:18People who feel numb are invited.
08:22People who feel like they're barely holding themselves together.
08:26Well, we'll see them there too.
08:29You see, maybe today, prayer does not need to be complicated.
08:34Maybe today, you sit somewhere quiet for just a moment and say this.
08:41Lord, I am tired.
08:45I feel far from myself.
08:47I feel far from you.
08:50I do not know how to fix this.
08:53But I am here.
08:57And you know what?
08:58That is more than enough to begin.
09:01And I know some people want everything to change immediately.
09:05Me too.
09:07Totally understand that.
09:09When you have been carrying a heavy weight for a long time,
09:13you want one prayer to just lift it all away.
09:16And sometimes God does move suddenly.
09:20I believe that.
09:22But many times, God restores us slowly.
09:26Through small mercies we almost overlook.
09:31You know, a little honesty.
09:32A little rest.
09:34A little light coming through the window.
09:36A walk outside.
09:39A psalm read slowly.
09:41A conversation where you finally tell the truth.
09:46A night where you put the phone down
09:48and let your mind stop being fed by all the negative noise of the world.
09:57Now, I realize those things may not look powerful from the outside.
10:01But when you are trying to feel human again,
10:05small things matter.
10:07God can meet you in those small things.
10:10He can meet you in one deep breath.
10:13He can meet you in one honest sentence.
10:16He can meet you while you are sitting at the edge of the bed with nothing impressive to say.
10:22He can meet you in the church building for God to be near.
10:38You don't have to sound strong for God to be near.
10:44You don't have to feel fully alive for God to begin restoring life in you.
10:51And maybe you're not falling apart right now.
10:56Maybe you are finally telling the truth about how much you've been carrying.
11:01And maybe that truth is where healing starts.
11:05So, do not call yourself weak because you are tired.
11:10Do not call yourself faithless because you feel numb.
11:15Do not call yourself broken.
11:18Broken beyond repair.
11:21Because this season has been heavy.
11:25Friends, you are a human being living through real pressure.
11:30And you have a Savior who understands human pain.
11:35Jesus stepped into this world.
11:38He knew hunger.
11:39He knew weariness.
11:40He knew grief and rejection.
11:44Jesus knew loneliness.
11:46He knew what it was to cry out to the Father in the dark.
11:51So, when you pray,
11:53Lord, help me feel human again,
11:56you are not praying to a God who cannot understand.
12:00You're praying to the one who came close.
12:03And He can help you come back to life.
12:07Maybe not all at once.
12:09Maybe not in a way that you expect.
12:12But step by step.
12:14Breath by breath.
12:16Mercy by mercy.
12:19He can remind you who you are.
12:22You are not just what happened to you.
12:25You are not just what you failed to become.
12:28You are not just what people need from you.
12:34You are not just your exhaustion.
12:37You are someone God made.
12:40Someone Jesus came for.
12:43Someone grace can still reach.
12:46You are not just what you need from you.
12:47So, today,
12:48do not disappear and set the pressure.
12:51Do not let the numbness name you.
12:55Do not let one hard chapter in life
12:58convince you the whole story is over.
13:02Start small.
13:03Tell God the truth.
13:06Lord,
13:07I just want to feel human again.
13:09And let that be the doorway.
13:13Not to pretending.
13:15And not to performing.
13:17And not to having everything figured out.
13:21Just to coming back.
13:23Coming back to prayer.
13:25Coming back to honesty.
13:28Coming back to rest.
13:31And,
13:32if this is where you are,
13:34I want to remind you,
13:36you are not alone.
13:41The Lord Jesus
13:43can meet you
13:44wherever you are.
13:47And he,
13:48well,
13:49he is not finished with you.
13:52My name is
13:54Douglas Vandergraaf.
13:55And I believe
13:57in Jesus Christ.
13:59God bless
14:00every single one of you.
14:02Every
14:03single one.
14:06Bye, friends.
14:08Bye, friends.
14:08Bye, friends.
14:09You
