00:00When you do a film or you sign a film on basis of the script on basis of the
00:04director I would think that you want your film to be a success today if you
00:09really go to see out of ten films you have like eight films that have two
00:14heroes and two heroines or you have one hero and two heroes the Hindi film
00:17industry is really you know that's how it's happening it's I think your rapport
00:23with your director that helps you you know bring out the best in your character
00:37to start with some general questions how is it that we find you doing less and
00:45less of solos or rather negligible solo films and more and more with some other
00:49heroine or paired with or smaller roles like Astithwa or item roles that like
00:55to be very honest with you first of all Astithwa was done as a complete on a very
01:07friendly basis for Mahesh who I know very well and he wanted an established face
01:15to play that character which had only two scenes so I don't think he was in a
01:22position to ask anybody for a favor and I wasn't I'm not really sure if he thought
01:32that somebody would do it for him you know so it was because it was an out and
01:37out taboos film so it was basically if you're talking in terms of Astithwa I it
01:42was just done on a very friendly basis with Mahesh and I had just like a day
01:48shooting for it as for your next question of item songs I've done just one and I
01:56haven't done any more because that's not what I really want to do and solo films I
02:04am doing two actually right now one is a so-called art film and with Sanjay Suri
02:11it's on the lines of I would say you know about this rape victim who is an IS
02:22officer's wife it's called Bandhak and there's another film with Chandrachur which
02:30is it's about the part it's it deals with the partition of India and the very
02:39serious kind of films you know it's like it's not very I won't say if you're
02:46talking of commercial commercial cinema I mean today if you really go to see out
02:54of ten films you have like eight films that have two heroes and two heroines or
02:59you have one hero and two heroes that's how I think the flow of the Hindi film
03:05industry is really you know that's how it's happening so I wouldn't really say
03:12that it's a conscious effort I'm making to work with two girls or where there are
03:18two heroes or just one hero and two girls or whatever it's just that the scripts
03:23that interest me have two girls and if I have to sit and wait say
03:36I don't know whether it will be worth my while because even solo projects don't
03:42really work as for like if you if you even pull out like the last ten films that
03:49have really done well they are either multi-starters or they are like you know
03:54they have two heroes or two heroines or one hero and two heroines it's basically I
03:57would think that today's way of making movies is basically you need a lot of
04:04glamour which probably and the hit and flop ratio of having a solo star as
04:13compared to a multi-star the hit ratio is much more in films like these going by
04:19what you've said so how will it sound if we ask you that you are more looking at
04:25film becoming a hit are you looking at the growth of your as an actor see I
04:30would say I'm looking at the growth of an actress if I'm not really sure if you
04:36understood what I said it's basically a you know when you choose a film on basis
04:42of its script and its director and you agree to do a film you are looking at the
04:46character that you're playing it necessarily doesn't have to be a solo
04:51character I wouldn't think that a solo film enhances your performance levels of
04:57in any way even if there are two girls in a film if you are a good actor you can
05:03show your talent films like like I've always said in the recent times there are
05:13films like Chori Chori Chupke Chupke or Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega or BV No. 1 or
05:19essentially which are multi-starers but they are commercial successes as well as
05:24the performances have been appreciated by the masses as well so we're not
05:31looking at I'm not trying to say that by doing a solo film you're going to get the
05:39applaud or the appreciation that you wouldn't get doing two hero or two heroine
05:46films so I don't understand the I've simply don't understand the concept when
05:54people say you're going to do so much for solo films for me when I choose a character it has
06:03to
06:03appeal to me the director has to be capable the production has to be sound
06:08and the script has to be great and you basically make a good film when you have
06:14these three things you know working with each other in sync so basically when you
06:21have a hit formula in terms of these three things which are intertwined with
06:26each other you make a good film and sometimes a good film necessarily does not
06:32mean a hit film a good film is doing good work which is what I believe in so
06:37are you looking forward to any such roles that you think well to be very honest Pratibhimb is
06:43one which is a completely a way out of line character for me in terms of what I'm playing
06:52it's it's like an extension of Vastav but in a more mature way so it it requires a lot of
07:00performance it will requires a lot of dedication in terms of trying to portray a character which is
07:06slightly older than my age and much older than my age rather and at the same time there is
07:16another film film which is kabi dhoop kabi chao which is the remake of I that is my
07:26home production then there is Rajji's one film that we're still we haven't really finalized the details of
07:36the film and then there is one kutub most probably which I will be doing with my age so there
07:45are a few
07:45films lined up which has a very impressionable characters that I'm playing which are very central which are
07:55very very important coming to Tera Mera Sat Rai do tell us about your growing this year
08:05Tera Mera Sat Rai essentially is a film of emotions it's it's it's a film made with a social message
08:13a message a message that would tell people that dealing with handicapped children
08:23and giving them love is more important than trying to figure out a place for them to stay which is
08:31apart from their own home and it's a message about love it's a message about emotions it's a message about
08:45relationships how to deal with relationships of different kinds and it is a very heartwarming
08:53film I would say and my role in the film is that of a girl who is very independent who
08:59is very mupatt
09:01you know like she's she's very straight to the face it's again a very different character from what
09:08I've played in most of my other films it's I would say that it is a more different version of
09:14the
09:14character I played in albela but slightly more down market it is I would like you know a girl living
09:26in
09:26a chawl basically and her attitude who is still super confident and who still wants to win the world over
09:33and she I mean she lives life by her rules basically and she would do anything to get love
09:45which is so important like I said I mean this film spreads the message of love in different forms
09:52it is got nothing to do with who eventually gets the guy because this story is essentially about two
10:06brothers and it's their emotional upheavals and it is it is basically the thing about
10:19you know it's I I really don't want to divulge the story at this point but it is essentially a
10:26role
10:26of it is essentially a story of these people who have come together through circumstances and then
10:36how they deal with the situations as they come along
10:44is this your first experience I've worked with Ajay in Kacche Dhaage
10:48how was the experience this time but this time I worked with him a little more
10:54I had much more work with him than I did in Kacche Dhaage my work was essentially with Saif then
11:00and I hardly worked with Ajay but the little that I knew him then and what I've known him now
11:07he is as always great to work with and extremely cooperative very very genuine and very straightforward
11:21person and he doesn't have hang-ups about you know about what he does or who he is or you
11:31know
11:31and basically working with me for the second time he made me feel very very comfortable so I never had
11:39any problems with him so now Lee I've known I did I know I haven't really done a film with
11:46her before
11:50but we just knew each other because we shared the same designer at one point and I just knew her
11:58because she used to also model before and I just know her for very long so we're we're like really
12:05good friends we never had a problem
12:14you can't really call a film because it was a day's work and it was just you know I would
12:21say though I
12:23would love to be associated with it because it's a very well-made film but apart from that I would
12:28say
12:28work-wise after Vastav I think Tera Mera Satra is my second film with him
12:33how do you rate and how do you find Vakesh?
12:37see like I said I'm very comfortable working with him and I think he's one he's one of
12:47the best directors we have today in our industry he's a very talented person
12:52and he knows his job and he knows how to get work done from his artists he doesn't compromise as
12:58per
12:59um you know like he won't say ki achha you can't do it this way then do it this way
13:04he wants it done
13:05in a certain way and you have to deliver it and he makes sure of that which is why you
13:10have such
13:11strong performances of his characters or at least characters uh actors who are directors actors
13:17actors and I think I'm a director's actor so for me um I think he brings out the best in
13:23me like Raji
13:25when I worked on Pukar with Raji Raji is another uh person who is uh who I think is one
13:32of the best
13:32people we have and um I'm very comfortable working with him as well so um you know it's it's it's
13:40I think
13:41your um rapport with your director that helps you uh you know bring out the best of bring out the
13:49best
13:50in your character and I think um I'm very comfortable working with both of them Mahi and Raji
14:00well to be very honest I've been out of town I haven't really um been around to hear the buzz
14:07even
14:07so I really don't know but all I can say is we've worked very hard on the film and we've
14:12done
14:12I think we've done a good job out of it and from what I hear people saying that it's turned
14:18out to
14:19be a great film so um as every actor expects his film to do really well at the end of
14:25the day at the
14:26box office I would expect it to do really well and if it does I guess we all will benefit
14:31from it
14:32so tell me what is the real number is it the is it the chubby number that you that we
14:38see or is it
14:39an introvert or what do you see I find a face which is quite baby but well see different people
14:51have different opinions but I would um I would say um a lot of people think I'm arrogant or they
14:58probably until they meet me so I wouldn't I would say I'm I'm not arrogant and I am very very
15:08friendly
15:08depending on the people I meet and um see I have to uh you know get along with somebody I'm
15:18not I
15:18won't go up to people I to strangers and say hello how are you I'm Namrita and all that if
15:23if I know you
15:24I'm or if I met you even once through somebody or if I've been introduced to you I will make
15:30it a
15:30point to come and say hello to you but I won't go out of my way that's it
