The founders of Gone to the Dogs are growing a business that's centered on fair trade, sustainability, and fostering community.

The tools that matter most are the ones you can put to work immediately. Watch Gone to the Dogs share insights from Chase for Business' The Experience Brooklyn, and how the hand-crafted pet goods business is already applying what they learned.

00:00We were extra thoughtful about the way that we design our products simply
00:03because they're for pets that we love.
00:08I'm Jennifer Wong.
00:10I'm Santos Agustin.
00:11And we're Gone to the Ducks.
00:13We're an ethical pet brand.
00:15All our products are ethically designed and handmade by women and sustainable materials.
00:23It's really difficult to shop for our pets the way we shop for ourselves.
00:26And so if there's this need in the market and there's nobody doing it, why don't we do it?
00:33We always understood that our margin is going to be a lot slimmer.
00:37But we also do believe that our core customer believes in what we believe.
00:43You have to give back to the community that you are in.
00:46So we do a lot of supporting local rescues, shelters as well.
00:50Q4 carries the year. That means we, at the end of the year,
00:54we have all this cash that we need to plan out for the following nine months.
00:59We are not finance people.
01:02We're designers.
01:04So I've got to say, Jenny, our Chase Business Advisor has been a blessing.
01:10This is our first time at Chase for Businesses, The Experience.
01:14The Experience is a program we put on where we bring together the things that sometimes are only available to
01:20employees for big companies,
01:21but we make them available for entrepreneurs and owners of small businesses.
01:25So those could be thought leaders, training sessions, networking with their peers.
01:30We bring all of those tools and capabilities together under one roof so that small businesses can have a day
01:35that's really focused on them and their own development and helping them succeed.
01:38We always hear from our guests, the most valuable part is the connections they make.
01:43Being here with other businesses, hearing their success stories, hearing their growing pains and challenges is really just a great
01:52opportunity.
01:53So what we see in the future for us is really growing our online business, perhaps seeing a second retail
01:59location, hopefully in the West Coast,
02:02and proving that a values-driven business model works.
02:07The company that we created, the impact in terms that we've made, it's kind of insane and it's just us
02:14two people.
02:15That's why customers are drawn to us, because the bigger the community, the bigger the impact.
