00:00Another club with a job up for grabs as well and that's the Carlton Football Club and the
00:04conversation's shifted from doom to boom. Yeah Josh Fraser the man in the hoodie that's three
00:10in a row hasn't bothered to put a club polo on certainly hasn't put a suit on so he's just
00:14going
00:14around like he's coaching the Tongayla Blues up in the Galwan Valley or in around that area so
00:20look he's done a good job still hasn't put his hand up surely Josh Fraser wants the job he's a
00:25driven smart guy number one draft pick he's been meticulous in the way he's gone about his career
00:30deep down he'd want this job and when they've got I've looked at the fixture they've got Essendon to
00:34come this week they've got a buy then GWS Eagles Richmond so I'm giving him three of the next four
00:40that takes them to seven wins I've done my homework on what will get you a wild card that's 12
00:44wins
00:44so they're sort of on their way half and I've got to ask you is it muddied the water it
00:49can happen
00:50when you've got a caretaker that comes in and does too well it confuses the situation yeah I know
00:55absolutely it does and particularly in a situation like this where it's such a drawn out ownership of
01:00the job from the caretaker like it's a 16-week job for Josh Fraser he started so well the challenge
01:05is
01:05going to be maintaining that all the way through but there does seem to be an air of freedom and
01:09and stability at the Blues in this little after the tumultuous departing of ways with Michael Voss
01:14he's done a great job I think he's played it smartly because as you rightly say the caretaker
01:19can be a really challenging position and we haven't seen too many caretakers come in
01:23and get the job get the job and do well there's been a few that come in and got the
01:26job
01:26but not too many have come in and got the job and done well I go back to Paul Roos
01:30the winner Terry Wallace a big winner at the dogs I think he coached the last 10 games after
01:36Joycey got the lemon and sass he took over there and almost got the dogs to a grand final so
01:41Terry
01:41was a winner Paul Roos I can't think of anyone else of course and the last time the Blues were
01:45in
01:45this situation was the Teague train and that derailed very quickly so they've got to be careful
01:49yeah but they'll be worried about that but if Fraser gets Carlton into a wild card he has to
01:54get the job no he doesn't have to but they certainly have a strong case to be able to say
02:00to
02:00the board well I've shown you what I can do under that sort of pressure and this is where we
02:04are
02:04the good news is we're seeing what what else is on the list at Carlton for a long time it
02:08was a
02:08pretty stable rotation of 24-25 players we're looking past that now we're giving some young
02:14opportunities to the guys like Eisen and Wilson and we're seeing what they've they've been brought
02:19to the club for and they're getting really positive results so with that that whole pressure cooker
02:24just disappearing at Carlton they're able to just be a bit more free from a selection perspective
02:28game style perspective and just confidence perspective and we're getting some reward having
02:32said all that when Vossi was still the coach I mean they'd done a whole lot right they'd built a
02:37lot of foundations of a really strong game they just weren't able to have get past the psychological
02:42blocks that plagued them played them late in game so while Josh Fraser's done a great job in somehow
02:47finding a way to release that stress and tension in the players and that was a fabulous performance
02:51against the Cats the other night yeah they were hard at it when it counted late and they've barely got
02:55an injury half so that's the other they've got all their good players playing I mean Walsh has
02:59managed to play every game Cripper's up and about now they've kept the cornerstone of their team so
03:04they're underachieving you know a little bit of luck here and there Vossi would have won three or four
03:08games so they've done all right the Blues so you think that they can make it I think they're not
03:13too far off they'll push and that's the value of the wild card gives you hope and it's worked
03:17it's going to take some effort clearly because they're coming from so far back but there's some
03:21some buoyancy there's some some positivity around Carlton for the first time in a little while so
03:25we will keep an eye on them but as you say the next month of footy they should win three
03:28of those
03:28games and that could set them on the path we will see
