00:00All right, let's go to you, Lee.
00:02We obviously want to talk the Dragons first off the bat.
00:07As Darren said, first win in 295 days.
00:10They beat a 15, they snapped a 15-game losing streak.
00:14Scott Pride, our editor, is in a good mood.
00:16It's just a weird weekend, isn't it?
00:19It is, but do you remember I said last week, I think it was,
00:23that you normally get some shot results around origin time
00:27and the Dragons haven't been getting the wins even in that period?
00:30Well, they got one. They got one this week.
00:32And I also think my ears picked up when Darren mentioned the fact
00:37that the Broncos lost five in a row last year around this time.
00:41I don't know any other competition in the world where for six, seven, eight weeks
00:46so many of the best players are out because they're playing origin
00:50or resting from origin, so it's a real anomaly in our game
00:54and it does interfere with the competition.
00:57I guess that's what makes the National Ping-Pong Rugby League
01:02so unique in that regard.
01:03We did a little stat summary on it last year
01:06and it was the historical reference of the sides
01:08that are more or less affected at this time of year
01:10and logic suggests the better sides feel it more
01:13because they have more representation.
01:15So Penrith, Melbourne, Brisbane, the Roosters in recent times.
01:21So, yeah, it's a quirky one.
01:22And whether you get a buy in that time as well
01:24is obviously super important.
01:26Yeah, I feel like for the teams that are usually down the bottom of the ladder,
01:31they kind of look forward to origin time.
01:33It's like, hey, we might snap a couple and the Dragons did.
01:35But Magdalena, this probably says more about the Broncos than the Dragons.
01:41What do you reckon?
01:41Yeah, and whilst the origin period does prove to sometimes be tumultuous
01:49for those better teams, the Broncos this year didn't really suffer as much
01:54because Rhys Walsh didn't get picked.
01:57Yeah.
01:57And whenever Rhys Walsh isn't there or isn't fit, that usually determines how they go.
02:03Unfortunately, he didn't play his best game on the weekend.
02:06And Broncos as a whole, they had 14 errors.
02:10I think seven of which were in the first half.
02:12They just looked very disjointed.
02:15Payne Haas was back as well.
02:17And even after the game, he was just saying, we weren't good enough.
02:21And Michael Maguire as well in the press conference alluded to the fact
02:25that maybe they counted out the Dragons.
02:29They just went in there thinking this is going to be an easy win.
02:32So it proves anything can happen.
02:34You've always got to be on your A game no matter who you're playing.
02:37But other than that, you've got to give flowers to the Dragons where it's due.
02:43They've won.
02:44It's all they needed to do.
02:45They won with the two halves that people have been questioning this whole year.
02:50So happy for the Dragons and happy for Scott.
02:54It's not often we say happy for Scott, but yeah, fair play.
02:58We should have had him on this week at some point.
03:00But yeah, maybe we'll talk about it on the contract show tomorrow.
03:03But yeah, so flowers to the Dragons, Dean Young.
03:09It looks like they made the right call in getting a bit of flooding in there
03:13and they'll get a little bounce.
03:14And hopefully they can keep it up.
03:16But yeah, also just Broncos, awful.
03:19I have a lot of bad things to say about the Broncos.
03:21I won't go too far in it.
03:22They had some pretty questionable people in the rooms afterwards as well
03:26that we won't go into because I try not to keep this podcast too political.
03:30But just a bad time to be a Broncos fan and a Queensland fan at the moment.
03:35So yeah, but flowers to the Dragons.
03:38You
