00:00All right, ready? All right!
00:09Today is a celebration of visibility, of unity, and our reaffirming commitment to building a city where everyone, regardless of
00:19who they are or who they love, feels seen, valued, respected, and safe in this great city.
00:25The pride flag represents courage, it represents progress, it represents the generations of advocates, leaders, and community members who fought
00:35and who continue to fight and advocate for equality, dignity, and justice for the LGBTQ plus community.
00:43We know that Detroit has always been a city strengthened by its diversity, its resilience, and the spirit of inclusion.
00:51And pride month gives us an opportunity to not only celebrate the LGBTQ plus community and many contributions to our
01:00city, but to also reflect on the work that still remains in this city and to ensure that equity and
01:07belonging for all people is right here in this great city.
01:10As mayor, I want to just reaffirm and solidify my commitment to continuing to foster a city that embraces diversity
01:18and creates opportunity for everyone to thrive who they are as who they are and unapologetically who they are as
01:26well.
01:26So today as we raise this flag, let us serve as a reminder that Detroit stands for love, that Detroit
01:32stands for inclusion, that Detroit stands for unity, and that Detroit is a place for everyone.
