Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, the former Saints head coach, wants to bring an aggressive style to his new group and saw a need for more pass rush.
Transcript
00:05Yeah, I think we want to be an attacking, aggressive style of defense.
00:08I think we want to take the fight to the offense
00:11and not let the offense dictate the tempo to us.
00:15We're going to be aggressive.
00:16We're going to challenge everything.
00:17We're going to play the game the right way.
00:19We're going to play a tough, physical brand of football.
00:23And I think the brand of football that you come to expect at the Chicago Bears
00:28is, yeah, I took a look a little bit at the pieces on defense.
00:32I felt like there were some pieces in place.
00:36In particular, I think there's some things that we have in the secondary that I like.
00:41I think there's some pieces at linebacker that I'm encouraged by.
00:44I think there's a couple of spots up front that I feel like we've got some players.
00:48So I think the foundation is there defensively.
00:52And I think, look, when Ben asked me if I would be interested,
00:58there was a couple of places that I felt like had the pieces in place
01:03to potentially be a really good football team.
01:08And Chicago was obviously one of them.
01:11And so I was excited when it came about that this was the job that he really wanted
01:19and this was the job that he was able to get.
01:21And I was excited when he wanted me to come along with him.
01:24Yeah, look, I think we're always looking for talent acquisition, player acquisition,
01:30guys that we feel like can come in and fit into our system
01:34that can help us grow as a defensive line.
01:37But what our job is as coaches, our job is to develop.
01:43And so we're going to take the pieces that we have in place.
01:48We're going to add the necessary ingredients that we need to create
01:54what we need to be able to do from a defensive standpoint.
