00:00Donnie, Garth Brooks is one of one.
00:06Our lives are better left to chance.
00:12I could have missed the pain, but I'd have had to miss the day.
00:23You just tear up hearing even 18 seconds of that song.
00:28You feel it right in your soul.
00:28Oh, my gosh.
00:30So Garth Brooks just did something that basically demands the RIAA to recognize his achievement.
00:38RIAA stands for the Recording Industry Association of America.
00:43And for the first time in history, an artist has done something that Garth Brooks has done.
00:48Garth Brooks being that artist.
00:50He has had 10 albums certified diamond.
00:54That's at least 10 million units or the equivalent in stream sold.
00:59Yeah.
01:00So to recognize it, the RIAA has announced that Garth Brooks will be honored with the Artist of a Lifetime
01:07Award.
01:08Of a lifetime.
01:09Yeah.
01:09Not even Lifetime Achievement.
01:11This is like you are it.
01:14He is the Artist of a Lifetime.
01:16Yes.

01:19So the honors are happening tonight.
01:21Garth is giving his credit to reaching such a goal to country radio.
01:28Oh, love to hear it.
01:29He said, quote, it's not about numbers.
01:31It's about the music.
01:33This milestone goes directly to country radio.
01:37It introduced me to the world's biggest, best, and most loyal audience, the country music audience.
01:44Wow.
01:45Amen, Mr. Garth Brooks.
01:47Yes.
01:48And I don't say that just because he's touting radio, which we obviously love.
01:53But, yeah, there is nothing like country music audience.
01:58Nope.
01:59I've worked in another format.

02:03You have access to these artists.
02:05You know them personally.
02:08And I don't know.
02:09It's just a different feeling.
02:11Like, you feel like they're talking to you.
02:13Yeah.
02:14And I think because they are, right?
02:15A lot of times they're story songs that you can relate to or even just the subject matter and the
02:20songs are things that you can relate to.
02:22Like, I can't relate to Rock Lobster by the B-52s.
02:24Right.
