00:00All right, happy Poochki Day. We are here at Poochki headquarters. New Palace Bakery has been around since 1908, family
00:06run, and this is the lady that is holding it down. Susie, thank you so much for having us in
00:10today. Thank you for coming. And when I say us, Pelvis, you're already eating Poochkis? I can't put it down!
00:17Miss Susie, you make the best Poochkis in all the land, in all the world, from right here in Hamtrak
00:23to the Detroit area to all the world, and we just love you so much, Miss Susie. Thank you for
00:28your contribution to Poochkis.
00:30Poochki Day every year. I'm glad you enjoyed it. This is our new flavor for the year. It's called Cookski.
00:35It's a cookie butter buttercream. It's Cookski. And it's greatski. Mmm, mmm, mmm. Oh my god. Cookie butter buttercream. And
00:42we're actually going to make, so you can see what goes into the Poochkis here at New Palace Bakery, we're
00:46going to make the new Cookski. Oh, that looks dangerous. Yeah, so what do we do, right? Watch out! This
00:52is a cookie butter buttercream. Okay. So you put it inside. Oh, she's got that technique. Okay. And then you
00:59take some
00:59of the cookie. So cookie crumbles, yeah. That's the way that cookie crumbles. So now this is cookie buttercream, and
01:06then we're now adding cookie crumbles on top of it. And then you put a dab of the cookie buttercream.
01:11A dab. A dab. And then a little more sprinkles for fun, right? Yep. And then you just put some
01:18powdered sugar. Can't go wrong. Oh, actually right there. Look how beautiful that is. Oh my gosh. That's kind of
01:24love that goes into every single Poochki here at New Palace Bakery. Okay. Oh, thank you. Yes, yes.
01:29They have been around, New Palace Bakery's been around since 1908, and they are one of the longest, if not
01:35the longest, continually running businesses here in Hamtramck, which is just an amazing community. It's so eclectic. Like, literally, what
01:44do they say? What do they say, Pelvis?
01:45Yes. They say it's the world in two square miles right here in Hamtramck, man. We got a lot of
01:51love for everybody in Hamtramck. That's right. I want to let you know, they get going real early down here,
01:57like three o'clock in the morning. Yep. Doors open at three o'clock in the morning on Poochki Day,
02:02and I want to let you know, these guys got it down, man.
02:06You might see a line, but it goes smooth like clockwork, man. Don't get scared away if you see a
02:11line, man. It's a cool, happening, fun hangout with all your Poochki friends. Ain't that right, Miss Susie? That's right.
02:18People literally drive down from, like, Traverse City, all over the state to get New Palace Bakery Poochkis on Poochki
02:25Day. Like, it's unbelievable. And they get a lot of them. Take them back up so they can share them
02:30with, you know, friends, family, like, literally, like, selling them at their shops so that they can get a taste
02:34of true Poochki.
02:36They pirate these Poochkis and sell them at other places. And they know, in their heart, they know it's Miss
02:42Susie and her love of the Poochkis.
02:44It makes it happen, man. And as long as the Poochkis get to the people, isn't that really, that's really
02:50what it's all about.
02:51The more people that can partake in the tradition, that's what it's all about.
02:54All right, man.
02:55So back in the day, and I mean, like, back in the day, then people, Fat Tuesday started out because
03:00basically they were like, okay, what do we have left in our cupboards that we can make something with?
03:06As they prepared for winter, right?
